Father of Brian and his wife Brigit of Markham, and Barry and his wife Donna of Scarborough. Papo to Graham, Kevin and Jason Anness. Brother-in-law of Eldon and Gwen Reid. He is predeceased by one sister and six brothers.

After spending a wonderful Christmas Day with her family, the former Ruth Martin of Southampton and formerly of Valens, Ontario, passed away at the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Thursday, December 25th, 2003, at the age of 73 years. Beloved wife of James Anderson for 49 years. Loved mother of Marion Anderson, Sharon and her husband Gerry Evans, all of Port Elgin, Brett Anderson of Kitchener, and Jeannie and her husband James McCallion of Burns Lake, B.C. She is also survived by her grandchildren Elwin, Noah, and Jason McCallion of B.C., James and Melissa Evans, and A.J. Anderson, all of Port Elgin, her great-grandson Ethan McCallion of B.C., twin brother Reg Martin and his wife Hannah of Sault Ste. Marie, and by her sisters Jean and her husband Rev. Jack Shannon of Niagara Falls, and Fern and her husband Don Moore of Creston, B.C. She is predeceased by her son Scott.

At the Southampton Care Centre on Friday, June 21st, 2002 at the age of 92 years, the former Ora Martin. Wife of the late Carl Tupling. Mother of Jackie and her husband Nelson Robertson, and Gary and his wife Lucette all of Port Elgin. Grandmother of Randy Robertson of Belleville, Carla and her husband Rob Dunlop of Port Elgin, Ranceand his wife Kari Tupling of Port Elgin, and Chantalle Nicholls of Paris, Ontario. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren. Sister of the late Alan Martin and the late Del Martin. Sister-in-law of Isabelle Martin of Thunder Bay, the late Frankie Atkins, and the late Doris Sturgeon McCartney.Mrs. Tupling was predeceased by her daughter Lois Dollar in 1987.

Doreen Young

With her children by her side, Doreen passed away peacefully at the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, on Wednesday, October 1, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, in her 81st year.
Born in Guelph, Ontario on June 3, 1922. Loving mother of Suzanne Leith and her husband, Doug, and son, Peter Young and his wife, Lisa, all of Southampton. Dear grandmother of Gillian, Meredith, and Andrew Marr, of Toronto. Dear sister of Patricia Cannon of Georgetown, Yvonne Henry and husband, Alex of Burlington, and Doug Dickson and wife, Donna, of London. Predeceased by her brother, Alvin and in- laws, Betty and Jean Dickson, and Barry Cannon. Fondly remembered by Herb and Ruth Young of Belleville, Ken Strong of Vancouver, Alan “Monk” Marr of Toronto, God -daughter, Laura Cannon-Sherlock of Durham and many nieces and nephews.
Doreen, a proud Veteran, served as Corporal in the RCAF from November 25, 1943 to July 24,1945. She was a physical training and drill instructor at Trenton Air Force Base. Her service medals and decorations included both Volunteer and RCAF awards. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #340, Port Elgin.
After the War, Doreen completed her education at the Royal Ontario Conservatory of Music in Toronto. She had previously won gold medals for piano at the Stratford Musical Festival in 1936, 1937 and 1938. In 1946, she won the Canadian Music Festival.
All her friends at the Chantry Center, and the Chantry Rug Hookers will miss Doreen. She will be remembered for her VW Beetle “FRV YNG”, prize-winning garden, her rug hooking, and her help in decorating the Chantry Center. She was a member of St.Paul’s Anglican Church and enjoyed cooking, baking, and preserving for her family.
Her children wish to thank Dr. Suke, the staff of the Grey Bruce Health Services, Southampton, Veterans Affairs Canada, the VON, and the Red Cross for their care and compassion. Special thanks to Doreen’s guardian angels, Xenia Murphy, Minister Margaret Greenhow and Bruce McDougall for the love and support that enabled Doreen to live her last months with grace and dignity.
