Suddenly on Wednesday, November 6, 2002 in his 43rd year, Ron, late of Brampton, loving son of Garry and Angeline Howell of British Columbia. Dear brother of Cheryl. Sadly missed by his grandfather Alex and his niece Chantelle. Also sadly missed by Shelley and her son Shane and Sandy, Ron (Dugie), Mike, Vince, Joe and many other friends and family. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) on Monday from 12 noon until time of service in the chapel at 2 p.m. Cremation. On Thursday, November 7, 2002 in Buffalo, N.Y. in his 65th year, much loved husband of Sylvia. Dear loving father to Henry John and his wife Margaret of Mississauga, Eileen Zuraw and her husband Janusz of Mississauga and Christine Mallon and her husband David of Etobicoke. Loving grandfather to Edward, John, Katherine, Patricia, Allison, Daniel, Lucas and Christian. Dear brother to Wacek , his wife Stefka and family of Brazil, Walerian and family of Toronto, Janina Townsend and family of Brazil, Stella Wolostchak , husband Joe and family of Toronto and the late Bronek and Tadek. Also sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews many other family and friends. Henry loved life and adored his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Loving mother to Vicki, Donna, Susan, Karen, Marianne, sons-in-law Brian, Jorge and Bernie. Dear grandmother of Allicia, Sarah, Aaron Brendan, Katherine, Alejandro, Emilio, Max and Sam. Sadly missed by her siblings and their spouses, Edward and Jennie, John and Veronica, Mary and Howard, Jessie and Sophie, Albert and Emily and loving nieces and nephews. Gregory Richard Purchase
Beloved husband of Dorothy Kristjanson Purchase, father of Caroline, Geoffrey, and Catherine, passed away peacefully at home on November 20, 2002. Gregory leaves to treasure his memory sister Helen Gayner and brother Gerald of Ottawa, brother Ross of Englewood, Colorado, and sisters-in-law Evelyn Downey and Doris Kristjanson of Winnipeg. Gregory received his Bachelor of Science from the University of Manitoba in 1953, and his M.B.A. from the University of Western Ontario in 1956. Gregory was an Executive with the T. Eaton Company Ltd. A Service of Remembrance and Celebration will be held at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. (between Islington and Kipling Aves., at 14th St., 416-259-3705) November 26 at 2:15 p.m. In lieu of flowers, should friends so desire, contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Toronto.

Alyre Joseph Melanson
Peacefully on November 23, 2002 at St. Joseph’s Health Centre at the age of 82. Beloved husband of Ida. Loving father to Neri and his wife Wendy (Woodstock), Gloria Parsons and her mate Philippe Ferrdan (Mississauga), Bernard and his wife Ginger (Mississauga), Gisele Melanson and her husband Michael Brown and predeceased by his daughter Jacqueline. He will be missed by his 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Ridley Funeral Home, 3080 Lakeshore Blvd. W. Reverend Father Ivan Jan C.M.
Peacefully at Dom Lipa, Etobicoke on Thursday, December 5, 2002 in his 87th year and his 59th year as a Priest. Reverend Father Ivan Jan entered the Vincentian Order of Religious Priests in Slovenia in 1938, was ordained in 1944, and subsequently served nineteen years as a school teacher and moral theologian in Argentina, followed by twenty-nine years of devoted service to God as a priest and pastor at Slovenian parishes in Toronto and Montreal. Predeceased by his parents, Anton and Ana and six brothers in Slovenia, his sister Marica in the U.S., and brother Frank in Toronto. Lovingly remembered by his many religious brothers and extended family in Slovenia, the U.S. and Canada. Resting at Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal Church, 739 Browns Line, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, and from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday. A Holy Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at the church at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10. Interment Assumption Cemetery, Mississauga. In lieu of flowers, donations to Dom Lipa would be appreciated. He leaves behind his loving and dedicated wife, Dora, of 55 years, and his loving and caring daughters Martha and her husband David Lewis and Anita and her husband Joseph Marn. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren Alana, Mark, Madeleine, and Victoria, his sister Vida Tomsic (Toronto) and Anica Tomsic (Australia) and her family. Predeceased by his brothers Miha, Tone and his sister Tina. He will be remembered by his many friends and relatives in Toronto, Slovenia, Australia and Argentina.
