SIECK, Joanne - Peacefully passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2003 at the age of 70. Loving wife of Bill and the best mother of Bill Jr. Dear sister of Karl Merkel, Robert Merkel and Emmy Maurer. A service will be held on Saturday, July 26 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of the R. S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). Visitation one hour prior at 2 p.m. Cremation to follow. If desired, donations to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated by the family.

Edward Joseph Choryhanna
CHORYHANNA, Edward Joseph - Suddenly passed away at the Extendicare North York, peacefully on July 23, 2003. Born in Smiths Falls, Ontario, was a devoted husband of 49 years to Lucienne (nee Gauvin) and beloved father to Gregory of Ottawa. Has served in the Black Watch Regiment in Kingston and the Royal Canadian Air Force in the Medical Service. After the war, he returned to study physiotherapy. Family will receive friends on Friday 7 - 9 p.m. at the R. S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). Funeral Mass will take place at the Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church (3220 Bayview Ave., just north of Finch Ave.). Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Parkinson Society.

Josephine Walsh
WALSH, Josephine - passed away peacefully at the age of 93 on Wednesday, July 23, 2003. Josephine, loving wife of the late Frank J. Walsh. Predeceased by her sister May Barbour and her husband John and her brothers George La Ruez and Joe La Ruez. Lovingly remembered by her nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the R. S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Monday, July 28, 2003 from 12 p.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. in the Chapel. Cremation. JEANS, Margaret S. - Margaret (nee Colthart) - Peacefully at home, in her 88th year, devoted and loving wife of the late Donald Henry Jeans (1996). Beloved mother of the late Annesley Mundy (2001) and the late Robert (1967). Loved 'Granny and Ameny' to Steven and David Munday; Andrew, Stewart and Ian Jeans and Great Grandmother to Robert, Anna, Emma and Aidan. Visitation will be held on Monday, July 28 from 7-9 p.m. Service Tuesday, July 29 at 11 a.m. at the R. S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). Donations, in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation or the Bob Rumball Centre for the Deaf.

GUY, Amy Alice - June 15, 1910 - July 27, 2003 - Predeceased by her husband Percy in 1963. Loving mother of Ronald (Doreen), Edward and Dorothy (Jack) Paterson. Beloved grandmother of eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Visitation on Tueday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). Funeral Service to be held on Wednesday, July 30, in the Chapel at 11 a.m. Cremation to follow. FERGUSON, James - Peacefully at Leisure World on Tuesday, July 29, 2003. Jim, loving husband of the late Margaret. Dear father of Ronald, Elaine, Jim, Doug and Gord. Frances Bernadette McLaren
McLAREN, Frances - passed away after a long, loving fulfilling life on Sunday, July 27, 2003, at the age of 89. She was predeceased by her beloved soul mate and husband 'Loy' Lawrence McLaren. She is survived by her son Peter and wife Jenny, grandchildren Laura and Jon and one great-grandchild Aubrey. She will be missed by her brother John, sister Mary, and nephew John-Michael and family and many nieces and nephews. A Graveside Service will be held at York Cemetery (101 Beecroft Rd., Toronto) on Wednesday, July 30th at 11 a.m. The McLaren family would like to thank the staff and nurses of Carefree Lodge for their love and compassion. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated by the family.

John Percy Beckett
BECKETT, John P. 'Jack' (M.R.A.I.C., RCAF, R.C.N.V.R., WWII) - On Sunday July 27, 2003 at Sunnybrook Hospital at age 85. Beloved husband of the late Mae Beckett (2003). Loving brother of Jean, Doris and Thomas. Jack will be fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the R. S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Wednesday, August 6, 2003 from 7-9 p.m. Interment of cremated remains of Jack & Mae will be held at a later date at Wilfrid Cemetery.

SEARLE, Anita Emily (nee Usher) - Suddenly at Aurora Resthaven on Tuesday, July 29, 2003, at the age of 73. Dear wife of District Fire Chief Arthur Searle (predeceased). Beloved mother of Mark Searle and his wife Sandy, Jeff and Peter. Loving grandmother of Kevin and Adam. Sister of Herbert Usher (predeceased). Visitation will be held at the R. S. Nicholas Mykola Bey
BEY, Nicholas Mykola - After a remarkably courageous battle with cancer, Nicholas passed away with quiet dignity and peace on the evening of July 29, 2003 at the age of 75. Beloved husband of Sally Bey. Loving father of Terry and Larry and daughter-in-law Linda. Dear grandfather of Mallory, Taylor and Erica. Visitation at the R. S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Friday, August 1 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A short Prayer Service (Panachyda) at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass at St. Volodymyr's Church, 15 Church Lane, Thornhill on Saturday, August 2 at 10 a.m. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Carolyn Kaye Brownell
BROWNELL, Carolyn Kaye (nee: Morrow) - Unexpectedly at York Central Hospital on Friday August 1st, 2003. Beloved wife and best friend of John 'Jack' for 42 years. Loving and devoted mother to Katherine, Heather and her husband Jon, and Kyle. Predeceased by her daughter Lynn, and her parents Dr. C.E.L. 'Lynn and Myrtle Morrow. She will be fondly remembered by her brother Bruce and his wife Sheila, nephew Tyler and niece Shannon and her husband Peter. Carolyn will be greatly missed by her dear relatives, many cherished friends and neighbours. A private family service will be held at a later date. If desired donations may be made to the Ontario Lupus Association or the charity of your choice.

Maimu Lindstrom
LINDSTROM, Maimu (Sillart)-June 9, 1923 - August 2, 2003-'Safe in the Arms of Jesus'-Fondly known to her family as 'Ala', age 80, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, August 2, 2003, after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved sister of Hulda Sillart of Estonia and Ella Pumber of Toronto. She was an example of a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. She will be much missed by her children Paavo (Susan) Lindstrom, Kullikky-Kathy (Larry) Taylor, Elmet (Julianne) Lindstorm, Michael Lindstrom and Christian Lindstrom, their families and her children's father Harry Lindstrom. She was dearly loved by her ten grandchildren Lisa, Kristine (John), Melanie (Steve), Mark (Nancy), Todd (Amanda), Trish, Laura, Erika, Andrew, Kristjan and three great-grandchildren Marissa, Erik and Jasmin. Maimu's grandchildren will remember her love, acceptance, kindness and great cooking. 'Taki Maimu' was much loved by her nieces, nephews in Estonia, Sweden, U.K., Canada and the U.S.A. She was predeceased by sisters Antonia Kappel-Funk, Ester Vaikla, Magda Sillart, and Mari Kruusel. A legacy of faith in her Lord and Savior has been left to her family. Special thanks to the nurses and staff for the wonderful care she has received from the Palliative Care Unit K1E of the Sunnybrook Hospital. Mom felt you were ministering angels to her and daily thanked God for your loving care. Visitation will be held at R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Tuesday, August 5, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, August 6 at 11 am at Bayview Glen Church (300 Steeles Ave. East, Thornhill, at the northeast corner of Steeles and Bayview). Interment will follow at York Cemetery with a reception at the Estonian Baptist Church, 883 Broadview Ave., Toronto. Tokens of sympathy may be directed to 'The Palliative Care Unit' in care of the Sunnybrook Foundation, 2075 Bayview Ave., Toronto, ON M4N 3M5.

Estella Lenore Thompson
THOMPSON, Estella Lenore (nee Shoebridge)-Peacefully, at Meadowcroft Place, York Mills on Friday, August 8, 2003 in her 85th year. Predeceased by her loving husband Eric of 57 years and by eldest son Frank. Survived by loving children Mary (John Macnamara), Robert (Deborah) and daughter-in-law Meredith. Will be sadly missed by seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. Survived by sister-in-law Eileen (Vern Mashinter). Friends may call at the R.S. Elinor Frances Francey
FRANCEY, Elinor Frances (nee Barnum)-On August 8, 2003 at Cummer Lodge in her 85th year. Beloved wife of James. Loving mother to Hamish and Roderick. Cherished grandmother to Brandon and Liam. Sister to Margaret of Edmonton and Jocelyn of Toronto. Elinor spent her childhood in Eastern Townships. She moved to Ontario in 1950 where she met her husband James of 45 years and raised her family in Willowdale. A Memorial Service will be held at All Souls Anglican Church (15 Clairtrell Road, Willowdale) on Tuesday, August 19, 2003 at 2 pm, where Mrs. Francey was an active member for 39 years. Donations to Convent House would be greatly appreciated by the family.
Her Strong faith in Christ sustained her.

Richard Joseph Martini
Peacefully at home, with family by his side, on Sunday, August 10, 2003 at the age of 73 years. Beloved husband of 50 years to Sylvia. Father and friend to Rick and wife Loretta, Joe and wife Elaine, Randy and wife Janis, Cathy and husband Mark. Cherished Nonno to Andrew and Matthew; Emma; Anthony, Bryan and Kevin; and Candice. Special brother to Mario and wife Flavia, brother-in-law to Barbara Tanner and Gary (predeceased); son-in-law to Ines Mina. He will be sadly missed by his many nieces, nephews, family members and close friends. Friends may call at the R.S. R.N., Class '48 W.C.H.-Suddenly at home on Monday, August 11, 2003, Diana, beloved daughter of the late James and Marjorie. Loving sister of the late Dawn, James, John and step-sister of Tom. Dear aunt of Judy, Linda, Nairn and Greg. Caring cousin of Eleanor and Catharine. She will be sadly missed by her great nieces and nephews. William Alvert Millson
passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 13, 2003, at the age of 90. Predeceased by his beloved wife Rita. Loving father of Eleanor, Ruth and her husband Bob Dowden, and Leslie and her husband Scott Millson-Taylor. Adored 'Grampsie' of 7 grandchildren and 5 (3/4) great-grandchildren. Al is also survived by his sister Evelyn Wakeman. Visitation will be held at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) on Saturday from 6-8 pm.
