Elmer Raddysh
Mr. Elmer Raddysh, resident of Theodore, passed away following a brief illness on Thursday, June 6, 2002 at the Regina General Hospital. He was 73 years of age. Elmer Raddysh was born on October 5, 1928 on the family farm in the Caldervale district near Theodore, Saskatchewan; a son of Katherina and Gabriel Raddysh. He attended the Caldervale School and completed his grade 12 at the Yorkton Collegiate Institute. As a young man, Elmer worked in Wishart at a garage. He met Mary Hrehor and the couple were married on July 21, 1952. Following their marriage the couple moved to Sheho where Elmer operated an oil business. The couple then moved back to the family farm where they farmed until moving to Theodore. Elmer continued working for the RM of Insinger, Norgaard Construction and Ukrainetz Auctioneering. He volunteered for the Theodore Fire Dept. and was a member of the Village Council. Following the death of Mary on August 13, 1994, daughter Pam returned home to live with Elmer. This gave him a new lease on life as he waited for her to return home safely from her late night nursing shifts. He enjoyed the company of Pam's friends who knew him as 'Elmo', and Savanna Medvid who called him 'uncle' Elmer. He enjoyed visiting with family and enjoyed when Randal, Sylvia and Alexis visited from Winnipeg. After Pam's marriage to Dean Russell, Dean and Elmer spent a lot of time together gardening and having coffee. Elmer enjoyed the company of his cats Rascal and Jack. He also enjoyed watching sports, gardening, cooking, baking, fishing, hunting and mushroom picking. Socializing with friends at 'coffee row' was important to him. Elmer spent this past winter visiting his brother Nick and family at Surrey BC and friend Mildred Klassen and family at Duncan BC. He enjoyed meeting new people and touring Vancouver Island.
Besides his wife Mary, he was predeceased by his parents, a sister Mary Kwasnitza, brothers Todor, John and Alec, sisters-in-law Della, Jean and Kaye Raddysh, brothers-in-law Pete Protz and Mike Kwasnitza, nephew Gary Kwasnitza, and by nieces Margaret (Protz) Kazakoff and Margaret (Kwasnitza) LaSalle. He leaves to mourn his passing and to celebrate his life his two daughters: Sylvia (Randal) Semeniuk of Winnipeg; and Pam (Dean) Russell of Yorkton; his granddaughter Alexis Semeniuk of Winnipeg; one sister, Dora Protz of Edmonton; four brothers, Bill (Elsie) of Theodore, Steve of Saskatoon, Nick of Surrey BC and Tony (Alexandra) of Odessa Ont.; a brother-in-law Bill (Katie) Hrehor of Foam Lake; numerous nieces, nephews and his many other relatives and friends.
A service of comfort was held on Wednesday evening, June 12, 2002 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre. The Funeral Service was held on Thursday afternoon, June 13, 2002 from the Theodore Recreation Centre with Rev. Mary Jane Allan of St. Paul's United Church officiating. The eulogy was given by Sandy Raddysh. The organist, Carla Madsen and the pianist, Thelma Gillis, led members of the Choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'How Great Thou Art' and 'Precious Lord, Take My Hand'. The choir processional was 'In the Garden' and the recessional was 'Go Now in Peace'. A solo selection entitled 'Daddy's Hands', recorded by daughter Pamela was played. The Interment followed in the Theodore Cemetery with granddaughter Alexis Semeniuk as the urnbearer. Cremation and funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
Carl Rathgeber
Mr. Carl Rathgeber, beloved husband of Clara Rathgeber of Yorkton, and formerly of the Goodeve district, passed away on Friday, April 26, 2002 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 84 years of age. Carl L. Rathgeber was born on the Rathgeber homestead near Goodeve on November 18, 1917. Carl attended Shappert School. Being a very capable student, he completed eight grades in six years. Carl worked on his father's farm until he started his own farming career in 1942. In November of that year he was drafted for military service and served with the 25th Field Regiment of the R.C.A. until his discharge in 1945. While on a 96-hour pass, Carl married Clara Lang on October 10, 1943 at Fenwood. Their first home was a two-room log house on section 20, south of Goodeve. In 1946, Carl and Clara built their 5-bedroom house and farm buildings on section 16. It is there they raised their 5 children. In 1976, Doug and Linda joined them to make a farming partnership. In May of 2001, Carl and Clara moved into their new duplex in Yorkton leaving the farm in the capable hands of Doug, Linda and their son Aaron. Carl was always very interested in public affairs. He served as secretary-treasurer of the Schappert School Board and was involved with the Goodeve 4-H Club for several years. He was a member of the Goodeve Wheat Pool for 15 years, and served on the Board of Directors of the Goodeve Telephone Company for 22 years. Carl also served on the Council of the Rural Municipality of Stanley, Division 3, for 26 years. He helped compile the R.M. of Stanley history book, which he was very proud of. Carl was a member of the Blue Bonnet Senior Citizens Club and a member of the First United Church in Melville. Carl was an avid reader. Current events were always very important to him. He loved to debate everything from politics to current farming practices, always reading and learning the material thoroughly before hand. He enjoyed watching curling and baseball, and was a dedicated fan of the Goodeve Giants Fastball team.
Carl was predeceased by his daughter Charlotte in 1966, his parents Jacob and Margaretta, his brothers Henry, John, Emil, Adam, George, Ernie, and sisters Carrie, Katherine, Mary, Margaret and Helen. Carl leaves to cherish his memory his wife Clara, his children Lorraine (Clayton) Gording of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Joan (Dave) Dobson of Yorkton, Doug (Linda) Rathgeber of Goodeve, and Clare (Garry) Soltys of Yorkton; his precious grandchildren: Trevor and Troy Gording, Kyle and Kirby Dobson, Aaron and Kelsey Rathgeber, and Garett, Graham and Jordan Soltys; his brother Jack (Nell) Rathgeber of Regina, his sisters Minnie Bilton of Melville and Tillie MacKay of Vancouver, B.C. and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 30, 2002 from Westview United Church in Yorkton. Rev. Faye Greer officiated. Granddaughter Kelsey Rathgeber read the scripture and son Doug gave the eulogy. The organist, Carla Laycock led members of the church choir and the congregation in the singing of the hymns 'In the Bulb There is a Flower', 'Just As I Am' and 'In the Quiet Curve of Evening'. The Interment took place at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Trevor and Troy Gording, Kyle and Kirby Dobson, Aaron Rathgeber and Garett, Graham and Jordan Soltys serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were entrusted to Bailey's Funeral Home.
Joe Ratushniak
Mr. Joe Ratushniak, beloved husband of Helen Ratushniak of Yorkton, passed away on Tuesday, June 4, 2002 at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 76 years of age. Joseph Carl Ratushniak, affectionately known as 'little Joe' was born on March 28, 1926 on the family farm in the Canora district of Saskatchewan; a son of John and Mary Ratushniak. In 1945 he became a member of the Canadian Infantry Corps. He was united in marriage to Helen Wolkowski in 1951 at Canora. Following their marriage the couple established a home in Yorkton. Joe and Helen were blessed with three children; Blair, Carol and Sandra. Joe worked for a number of years as a mechanic and then as an agent for Shell Canada. He enjoyed his love for cars, working as a mechanic and car salesman until his retirement. Joe was a very avid sportsman, enjoying golf in the summer and curling in the winter. He was a great spectator for hockey and his grandchildren's many activities. He enjoyed an exciting game of cards, lending a generous helping hand, and possessed a good sense of humor. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church as well as the Knights of Columbus.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife Helen; son Blair Ratushniak of Otthon, his wife Sheila and their children Devin and Teegan; daughter Carol Prosser of Cold Lake AB, her husband Mark and their children Steven, Sean and Carol's daughter Janine of Calgary; daughter Sandra McKenzie of Regina, her husband Craig and children Adam, Alex and Brooke; his brothers, Tom (Kay) Ray of Burnaby, BC, Orest (Pauline) Ratushniak of Winnipeg and sister Olga Krywetski of Flin Flon. Joe was predeceased by his parents Mary & John Ratushniak, brothers Mitchel and Sam, and by sisters Rosie Blahitka and Nellie Bodnarchuk.
Prayer services were held on Friday evening, June 7, 2002 from the Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Father Bryan Bayda C.Ss.R. officiating. The eulogy was given by Nestor Trach. A rosary service, led by members of the Knights of Columbus preceded the prayers. The Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Saturday, June 8, 2002 from St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church in Yorkton with Father Bayda as celebrant. The Cantor, Ed Pindus and members of the parish choir led in the singing of the responses. Jim Chabun was the epistle-reader and the crossbearer was Adam McKenzie. The Interment followed in the Garden of Gethsemene at the Yorkton Memorial Gardens with Shawn Ratushniak, Dave Henlisia, Trent Kohan, Les Tratch, Lindsay Wolkowski and Colby Wolkowski serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
Ferdinand Rein
Mr. 'Fernie' Rein, beloved husband of Lenore of Kelliher, passed away on Thursday, February 27, 2003 at St. Joseph's Integrated Care Centre in Lestock. He was 79 years of age. Ferdinand Joseph Rein was born in Zawiercie, Poland on October 30, 1923 to Jozef and Waleria Rein. In 1927, Jozef immigrated to Canada and was followed a year later by his family. They lived in the Duval area until 1937 when they moved to what became the family farm four miles south of Jasmin. Fernie completed his education at St. Joseph de Dauphinais School. His life thereafter was devoted to the farm except for a summer working on the railway track near Fernie BC (of which he had many stories to tell, especially that he graciously allowed that community to use his name). He also served in the Royal Canadian Army. The farm was rented at the time and he came in from the field one day to find his mother in tears because someone had come to look at the place and she thought she would have to move again. He vowed to buy the place, so his mother could stay in the community she loved so much. He worked hard and long for many years, was a good farmer, and was proud of his accomplishments. Because he stayed on the land and provided for his parents till their passing, his brother Valdemar was able to get a university education and go on to become a Lt-Col in the Air Force. Fernie was very proud of his brother's achievements. He had a great love of nature, and was very observant and knowledgeable about the birds and animals on his farm. His hobbies included playing cards and dice games; he also enjoyed TV, especially sports. His friends enjoyed his quick wit and friendly demeanor. On July 4, 1987 Fernie's life changed. He married Lenore Skilnick of Kelliher. He gained a whole new family to love him. He learned that travel could be fun and interesting, and they went on several trips to different countries. He retired from the farm in 1995 and spent his remaining years in Kelliher. About five years ago, Fernie was diagnosed with a heart condition and his health had been in decline since that time.
Predeceased by his parents, he leaves to mourn his passing his wife Lenore; his sister Alfreda Gazuk of Rosthern SK; his brother Valdemar (Grethe) of Ottawa; three step children, Joan (Ken) McGown and their children Robyn, Amber & Erika; Katherine (Dennis) Hobman; and Heather Reimche; one nephew, George Gazuk, four nieces, Valerie (Ralph) Schidlowsky, Annette Rein, Susanne (Rob) Sargent, and Linda (Randy) Trumpler; nine great nieces, three great nephews, five great great nieces and five great great nephews; as well as his many other relatives and friends.
The prayer vigil service was held on Sunday evening, March 2, 2003 from St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic Church in Ituna. The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, March 3, 2003 from St. Stanislaus Church with Rev. Father Pat Murphy officiating. The organist, Wendy Dale and the Psalmist, Darren Dale led in the singing of the hymns 'Be Not Afraid', 'Gift of Finest Wheat', 'Now the Green Blade Rises', 'May Flights of Angels Lead You' and 'How Great Thou Art'. The crossbearer was Anthony Dale, the altar-servers were Ashley Slywka and Jessica Petruka, and the eucharistic minister was Frank Schidlowsky. The Interment took place in the Kelliher Memorial Gardens with Ken McGown, Ralph Schidlowsky, George Gazuk, Duke McEachern, Norman Norgaard and Robert Ivey serving as the casketbearers. Arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
Olga Riesz
Olga Riesz, long time resident of Yorkton, the widow of the late Anton Riesz, passed away peacefully in the Burnaby General Hospital, Burnaby BC on March 24, 2003 after a short illness. She was born in the Babiak district of Poland on December 26, 1907 the daughter of August and Louisa (Hirschkorn) Reimann. As a young woman she and her girlfriend decided to immigrate to Canada. They were passengers on the Holland American Lines ship 'New Amsterdam' that left Danzig, Poland on May 23, 1930 and arrived in Halifax, Nova Scotia on June 8th. She arrived in Yorkton just as the Great Depression was starting. She began working on a farm in the Orcadia area. After a year she moved into Yorkton acquiring work as a housekeeper. Olga met Anton and soon after married on June 21, 1933 by Pastor Leinweber at the Lutheran Parsonage located at 128 6th Ave. Olga and Anton were blessed with three children: Dorothea, Ray and Margaret. They lived in rented houses on Betts Ave. and First Ave. until they were able to buy a house on Gladstone Ave. in the spring of 1943. They remained in that house until September of 1985 when they moved to Victoria Court. Olga hated to leave her garden and neighbors behind. She soon got used to her new surroundings and loved her new neighbors and activities. Olga was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who did everything she could for her children. She loved people and serving people. Being an excellent cook, she would often invite guests to share a Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. Usually someone that was spending the holiday alone. She enjoyed traveling. She and Anton returned to Europe as well as traveled extensively throughout Canada and the USA visiting friends and relatives by way of train, airplane and car. They also took numerous bus excursions with the seniors. She loved the outdoors. She would look forward to trips in the countryside to look at the fields and wildlife or to the cabin at Good Spirit Lake She loved sports. Olga bowled regularly with the Golden Agers for many years. She was an avid fisherman. She could spend endless hours in a boat, fishing. She enjoyed watching all sports on TV. Throughout her life, Olga was a devout believer in God. She felt God's presence everywhere, especially in all churches, regardless of denomination. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. Coming to Yorkton she joined the Luther League at St. Paul. After her marriage to Anton they became active members of St. Andrews United Church where all her children where baptized. The family returned to St. Paul Lutheran in 1943, where she remained a faithful member until her passing.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Anton in 1999; parents, August and Louisa; her brother Edmund; sisters Emilie, Natalie, Bertha and Otilia; also half brothers Julius, Emil, and August. She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, her children: Dorothea Fleisher of Southold, N.Y., Ray (Dorothy) Riesz of Yorkton, and Margaret (Dave) Mannings of South Burnaby, B.C.; her grandchildren: Beth (Chris) Claremont of Brooklyn, N.Y., Colleen (Tim) Balzer of Powell River, B.C., Cindy (John)) Bramhall of Kamloops, B.C., Robert (Terry) Riesz of Brandon, Man., Garry (Heather) Riesz of Edmonton, Alta.; eight great-grandchildren: Alasdhair and Benjamin Claremont, Genoa and Jordan Bramhall, Ethan and Konrad Balzer, Brittany Hawkins, and Alexander Riesz; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Robert Ritchie
Robert Adam Charles Stewart Ritchie on Wednesday, January 23, 2002 after doing chores was taken to the Yorkton Regional Health Centre; was admitted and was in good spirits awaiting a transfer to Edmonton. That evening he suddenly became unconscious and immediately passed away ever so gently. He was 55 years of age. Bob the only child born to Peggy and Addie Ritchie on July 13, 1946. While only three months pregnant, in January of 1946, Peggy had to bury her husband of just a few years and bring her son into this world alone. The family resided in the Cut Arm District near Bredenbury for five years until moving to the Rothbury district to live nearer to Peggy's family, Rob, Andrew and Murray Laidlaw and their families. Bob grew up on the Andrew and Minnie Laidlaw farm along with his mother and Uncle Charlie Ritchie who had moved with the family to Rothbury. All the family were farmers so as a young boy Bob was readily exposed to the practices and fortitude that it took to grow a crop, raise cattle and sustain yourself with the resources and opportunities that God gave. Bob attended Rothbury School and Churchbridge High School, graduating in 1964. As a young man he played hockey, football and softball. All through his life he continued to enjoy hunting and curling. After graduating Bob chose to follow the traditions of his family and took up farming. He purchased his first quarter section of land in 1965. On August 18, 1966 he married the love of his life Grace Helen Elaschuk. Together they brought three children into this world. Lauretta, May 1967, Stuart, September 1972 and Lynette, January 1975. The family grew grain, raised cattle and pigs. As well as operating a dairy herd that was sold in 1977. Bob had a gentle way of easing a yield from his land and increasing his livestock. Every newborn animal on the farm received his devoted attention and he did all that was possible to ensure it would be properly cared for. The area of surrounding neighbours always knew they would never be turned down. Bob gave freely of himself, any skill or any tool he could offer. He had a keen ability for numbers and sciences. He honed his metal working skills over the years and created many gadgets that were implemented into farm activity. Bob served his community serving as a secretary for the Rothbury Wheat Pool, board of directors with the Young Co- operatives and served as secretary with Co-op Implements both in Roblin and Yorkton. Bob and Grace farmed side by side sharing every responsibility on the farm. After suffering heart attacks in 1999 the farm was modified with more responsibility falling on Grace and Stuart. Bob continued to do what he could although often frustrated by his limitations. Bob was delighted with the birth of a grandson and his chest swelled with pride every time he heard or watched Cple's interest in the farm grow.
He leaves to cherish his memory and to celebrate his life his wife Grace. daughters: Lauretta and her husband Elmer McInnes of Yorkton, Lynette and Marty Gerski of Melfort. A son Stuart of Wroxton a grandson Cple Gerski along with numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his father Adam, January 1946, mother Margaret, July 1989, father - in - law William Elaschuk, February 1998, mother - in - law Dorothy ( nee Donaldson ) 1969 along with numerous uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services were held on Monday afternoon, January 28, 2002 from the Bredenbury Town Hall with Reverend Curtis Tufts of the United Church of Canada officiating. Ruth Datema was the Pianist leading the Congregation in the Hymns: " For The Fruit Of All Creation ", and " Great Is Thy Faithfulness ". The reflections and remembrances of Bob's life were given by: Mervin Eftoda, Winston and Billy Elaschuk, Marty Gerski, Lauretta Ritchie McInnes and Bill Chornawka. Following this, special music by Willie Nelson " Blue Eyes Crying In The Rain " was played. The recessional Hymn " Amazing Grace " was played by Piper Dave Gillard. The Honourary Bearers were Bob Laidlaw, Jim Elaschuk, Leslie Thies, Harry Metzler, Steve Sawchuk, Jim Fustey and George Rosin. The Interment followed in the Bredenbury Town Cemetery with Tom, Winston and Billy Elaschuk, Dave Flett, Herb Cross and Mervin Eftoda serving as Casket Bearers. Services directed by Bailey's Funeral Home Yorkton.
Mike Rodych
Mr. Mike Rodych of Yorkton, beloved husband of Sophie Rodych passed away peacefully and entered eternal life on Wednesday, June 6, 2001 surrounded by his family at the Yorkton Regional Health Centre. He was 85 years of age. Mike was born October 7, 1915 in the Beckenham district, the eldest of seven children, to Theodore Rodych and Mary Kerunsky. Mike remained at home and helped on the family farm. On November 5, 1944 Mike was united in marriage to Sophie Krywulak at Sacred Heart Ukrainian Catholic Church in Ituna. This union was blessed with three children; two daughters and one son, Doreen (Emil Sereda) of Yorkton, Ted (Donna) Rodych of Medicine Hat AB; and Christine (Leon) Froess of Regina; ten grandchildren, Kevin (Tracy) Sereda of Regina, Kelly Sereda of Vancouver BC, Trent (Nicole) Sereda of Saskatoon, Kyle Sereda and fiance Angela Toews of Big River, Amanda Sereda of Saskatoon, Stefanie Rodych of Medicine Hat, Courtney, Candice, and Kendra Froess Regina and Kim Sereda who passed away in 1996, and two great-grandsons, Koby and Carson of Regina. Mike is also survived by a sister Julia Wlock of Yorkton and Bernie Rodych of Saskatoon and numerous nieces and nephews. He predeceased by his mom and dad; one brother, two sisters, one grandson, six brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law. Mike continued to farm until 1971 when he and Sophie moved to Yorkton. Here he commenced employment with Bill The Builder until his retirement in 1980. Mike was active at both Beckenham Church and Hall committees. He was a very devoted parishioner of St. Mary's Church, an active member of the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood and very active at St. Mary's Cultural Centre while his health permitted.
Prayer services were held on Friday, June 8 at St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Yorkton. Members of the Ukrainian Catholic Brotherhood, St. Volodymyr Branch led in the praying of the rosary. Requiem Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Saturday, June 9 at St. Mary's Church with Very Rev. Dmytro Dnistrian, C.Ss.R. as the Celebrant. The responses were led by Ed Pindus and members of St. Mary's Parish Choir. The epistle reader was Donna Rodych. Stefanie Rodych and Courtney Froess served as cross bearers. The candle bearers were Candice and Kendra Froess. Members of the U.C.B.C. participated in the services with Glen Tymiak bearing the UCB flag, Peter Gulka and John Solonenko serving as banner bearers and Ned Pisiak and Joe J. Ratushniak serving as the ushers. The honour guard was formed by Steve Hrynkiw, Mike Baran, Fred Pawliw, Mike Zawada, Ed McLashen, Wally Baluk, Harry Kozak and John Wytrykush. The Interment followed in the Yorkton City Cemetery with Kevin Sereda, Kelly Sereda, Emil Sereda, Trent Sereda, Kyle Sereda, Amanda Sereda and Leon Froess serving as the casket bearers. Following a reception served at St. Mary's Cultural Centre, reflections and remembrances of Mike's life were conveyed by his children, Doreen Sereda, Ted Rodych and Chris Froess. Eternal memory! Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home, Yorkton.
Mrs. Bernice Roebuck
ROEBUCK - Mrs. Bernice Roebuck of Theodore, beloved wife of Chris Roebuck passed away on Friday, January 20, 2005 following a couregeous battle with cancer. She was 49 years of age. Bernice was born on September 7, 1956 at Yorkton, Saskatchewan, a daughter to Steve and Rose Krupa of Sheho, SK. She was the eldest daughter of six children. She attended Deer Creek School for a year, Otthon for a few years and the remainder of her education at Sheho and Foam Lake. A lot of time when Bernice was growing up years was spent at her grandmother's in Otthon.
Bernice met the love of her life, Chris Roebuck in August, 1973 and later that year moved to Chris's family homestead in the Theodore district. She enjoyed life on the farm, planting flowers, taking care of the house and always spending time with family.
On March 6, 1976 Bernice gave birth to her first daughter Andrea. This was followed by the birth of twins, Laura Lee and Laura Lynn on October 11, 1977. On April 3, 1979 Angela was born and finally Amy in May 20, 1980. Bernice's hands were full. Following the birth of her daughters she spent all her time raising her children. Bernice stayed home with them from the day they were born until the day they left. While raising her daughters she started a part - time job with Diana May Clay in 1988 decalling ceramics. She continued to decal ceramics for many years On April 8, 2003 she started a job with BDC Courier. She enjoyed this job and is blessed with all the friends she met at this job. In September of 2004, Bernice was diagnosed with a form of lung cancer. Following that she stayed in Regina for a long time and received all sorts of treatments. Bernice was very brave and fought all she had. In April 2005 Bernice was told she was in remission and happily returned to work. Then on September 30, 2005 she was again told that the cancer had returned and was advised to quit her job. In the last months of her life she gladly took care of her pets, her house and her family. Bernice enjoyed Christmas with all her family and on January 8, 2006 celebrated their 20th. Wedding Anniversary and 33 years together.
Bernice was predeceased by her parents Steve and Rose (Kolodzieczak) Krupa, a brother Dale Krupa (in infancy); her nephew Andy Mikkonen; her father in - law Louis Roebuck and mother - in - law Nettie Roebuck. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband Chris Roebuck; her children: Andrea Ostapovitch and her husband Todd Ostapovitch and their children Jared and Kaitlynn of Lloydminster, Laura Lee Roebuck and Chris Woronuik and their son Dawson of Wynyard, Laura Lynn Fedyk and her husband Brad Fedyk and their children, Jason, Shannon and Kaylee of Jedburgh, Angela Roebuck and Stephen Yaholnitsky of Regina, Amy Roebuck and Corey Slobozian and their son Owen and one on the way of Shortdale, MB; her brothers and sisters: Laurel Mikkonen, Cathy Mikkonen, Stephen Krupa, Eugene Krupa and Robert Krupa. Bernice will be missed by many nephews, nieces, brothers - in - law, sisters - in - law, friends and cousins.
The funeral service was held on Tuesday, January 24th at Yorkton Memorial Gardens Family Centre with Rev. Fr. Wendelin Rolheiser, OMI from St. Gerard's R.C. Church officiating. A special selection, 'Lost in Your Eyes' by Melissa Etheridge was played as the processional. The reader was Dolores Spreitzer. The organist, Rita Hilbig led members of the choir in the singing of the hymns, 'I Will Never Forget You' and 'Be Not Afraid'.
Serving as honorary bearers were Todd Ostapovitch, Chris Woroniuk, Brad Fedyk, Stephen Yaholnitsky and Corey Slobozian.
Funeral arrangements were in care of Bailey's Funeral Home.
