LAKE, Maureen, BN, RN- Of St. John's died tragically in an automobile accident in Belfast, Northern Ireland on 17 February 2004, age 23. Left to mourn are her parents Edward and Elaine (nee Holden); sister: Anita (Dave Martin), Calgary; brothers: Michael (Toronto) and Gordon (St. John's); Grandfather: Clem O'Keefe Sr. of Freshwater, Placentia Bay. Special cousins: Emily Hobbs, Natalie and Katie Holden and Devin Holden. Also a large circle of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends around the world.
Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Tuesday from 12 noon - 10 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. - 10 p.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, February 26, 2004 at 9:30 a.m. from Corpus Christi Church, Waterford Bridge Road. Cremation to Follow.

Arthur (Art) Lucas
LUCAS, Arthur (Art) - passed away after a short illness at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home, on Wednesday, February 11, 2004. Arthur (Art) Lucas, 69 years old. Predeceased by his wife Joan, his father Tom, mother Gladys and sister Joan, Texas. Leaving to mourn one son Barry (Rosarie); three daughters: Michelle (Gary), Connie (Anthony) and Cindi (Harold); eight grandchildren: Courtney, David, AJ, Kaitlin, Leeanne, Jarred, Joshua and special grandson Jeremy; brothers: John (Marg), Ern (Judy), Tom (Joan), Lou (Helen), Dave (Barb); sisters: Glady Powell (Derm) and Lil Strickland (Les); also a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and special friend Gilbert Button. Also leaving to mourn the staff at the Agnes Pratt Nursing Home (Stella Burry Unit) who looked after Art and loved and cared for him as their own. Their kindness and gentleness will forever be remembered. May God Bless and keep watch over them all.

MARTIN, Mary Josephine (Clancey) - Passed peacefully away at St. Luke's Nursing Home on February 4th, 2004, Mary Josephine Martin, aged 88 years. Predeceased by her husband Brendan, November 9, 1991. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, her daughters Brenda Crotty (Paul), Marie Hollett (Wayne), sons Kevin (Diane), Richard (Sandy), nine grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, brother John, sister Kay Stever (Frank). Also a large circle of friends and relatives.

Predeceased by her husband Edward March, sisters Isabel King and Mary Evans, brother Peter King and nephew Kevin King. Leaving to mourn special cousin and dear friend Mary King, with whom she resided, nephews Peter, David, Edward, Gerard and Br. Michael King; great-nephews Michael Francis, Jonathon and Kenny King; great-nieces Rose, Jessica and Laurn King, as well as many other relatives and friends.

McCarthy, Louise (nee Smart) - passed away suddenly at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, February 16, 2004, Louise Mary McCarthy in her 88th year. Predeceased by husband John, December 1999; sisters: Lydia, Catherine, Dorothy and Marina; brothers: Patrick and Martin. Leaving to mourn, her son Philip (Judy) and grandson Shawn. Also leaving to mourn her sister and best friend Mary Smart, with whom she resided and her sister Bride Doucette, Boston, Mass; and her brother Mike Smart. Also leaving to mourn sister-in-law Ethel Smart; brothers-in-law Bill Tulk and George Brocklehurst; and good friend Alice Lucas; as well as a large number of relatives and friends.

MILLER, Margaret M. - It is with deep sorrow we announce the sudden passing on early Sunday morning of Margaret M. Miller, aged 75 years. She will be sadly missed but remembered with love by family and friends. Predeceased by her husband Harold, 1993, grandson Tony Cromwell, 1999, daughter Catherine Cromwell, 2003. Leaving to mourn her children: Shirley Clarke (Ray), Harold (Gladys), Tom (Bev), Jack (Hilda), Michael (Sandra); 26 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren; sister Kay Bayley, Dartmouth, NS; son-in-law Kevin Cromwell; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, who passed away surrounded by her family after a brief illness at St. Clare s Mercy Hospital. Pre-deceased by her husband Michael, brothers Leo and Lawrence and loving children Francis, Terry, and Mary. Leaving to mourn her eight children Ron (Joan Schmidt), Jim, Jean (John Decker), Edward (Linda Mackay), Madeline (Stan Gosse), Larry (Marie), Michael (Sonia), and Rick (Lola Armstrong). As well as her sisters Mary Means and Agnes Dafoe of Belleville, Ontario and her brother Francis Lawlor (Cathy) of Peterborough, Ontario, loving 22 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild and a large circle of relatives and friends.
The family will receive visitors at Caul s funeral home, Le Marchant Rd. on Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 pm and 7-10 pm.
A celebration of her life will be held on Wednesday Feb 25 at 11 am from St. Theresa s Church, Mundy Pond Road.
Mary Eileen Power
Power, Mary Eileen (nee Burke) - Gone to be with her Lord on Sunday, February 29, 2004, Mary Power passed peacefully at St. Patrick's Mercy Home in her 89th year. Loving wife of the late Andrew Power (April, 1996). Mary was born in St. John's and resided here all her life. She was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies' Auxiliary and an active member of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. She is survived by her sister-in-law, Mrs. Joseph Burke (Rhea) of Welland ON, nieces Elaine Burke of Welland ON, and Patricia Hoggan of Sooke BC as well as numerous other nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. Her good friend, Madonna Philpott and family also mourn Mrs. Power. She was predeceased by her parents Agnes and William Burke and 3 brothers, Thomas (St. John's, Newfoundland), Jack (Christchurch, New Zealand) and Joseph (Welland, Ontario).
Mrs. Mary Power is resting at Caul's Funeral Home at 84 LeMarchant Road. Visitation Tues March 2, 7-9 pm and Wed march 3, 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral mass on Thurs March 4 at 11:00 am at St. Patrick's Church with burial to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.
