CHIPMAN, Chesley – Passed peacefully away on April 2, 2005, at the Glenbrook Lodge in St. John’s in the presence of his loving family, age 88 years. Predeceased by his devoted wife, Lucy Howell (1998) and son-in-law Paul Meehan (1996). Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, two sons: Ed (Denyse) and Gerry (Linda); six daughters: Dorothy (E.J. Joy), Yvonne (Gord Kane), Marion Byrne, Toronto, Louanne (Gary Cranford), Jo Marie (John Philpott), Anita (Paul Buckingham); sixteen cherished grandchildren: Paul, Marc, Robin, Stephen, David, Gillian, Lori, Teri-Lynn, Bill, Michael, Shauna, Craig, Elizabeth, Stephen, Colin, Kayla and three great-grandchildren: Somerly, Scottie and Faith, as well as a large circle of family and friends, especially those of Glenbrook Lodge. Special thanks to the staff of Glenbrook Lodge for their care, compassion and professionalism given to our father. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. CORBETT, Daniel Edward – Passed peacefully away at the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre on Thursday, April 28, 2005, surrounded by his loving family, Daniel Corbett, Retired Sgt. RNC, age 83 years. Predeceased by his parents, John and Annie (Costello) Corbett, his brother Jack and his sister Mary (Tom) Duggan. Leaving to celebrate his life with fond and loving memories, his loving wife Pat (nee Power), three sons: Danny (Jeanie), Bob (Judy), Tony (Leona); five daughters: Annette (Henry) Tchir, Maureen, Libby (Pat) Angel, Stephanie and Ashley; also a special sister-in-law Edith Corbett and nephew Jim (Linda) Corbett. Also fondly remembered by fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, as well as numerous sisters and brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. The family will receive visitors at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, Friday, April 29th, and Saturday, April 30th, from 2 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. and Sunday, May 1st, from 12 noon – 9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be held at Corpus Christi Church, Waterford Bridge Road on Monday, May 2nd, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. with Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Pauline Costello
COSTELLO, Pauline- Passed peacefully away surrounded by her loving family at St. Patrick's Mercy Home on April 23, 2005 after a courageous battle with cancer, Pauline Costello aged 86 years. Predeceased by her husband Joseph, March 23, 2003. Leaving to mourn her daughter Mary Lynn (Craig); sons: Jim (Ada), and Gerard (Isabella); granddaughters: Kyla and Jada; grandson Scottie; her brother Peter Power and also many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. Resting at Caul's Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation Monday and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will take place on Wednesday April 27, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from Corpus Christi Church. CROTTY, William – Passed peacefully away at his residence on April 22nd, 2005. William Crotty, aged 89 years. Predeceased by his sister Bridget Fowler (Michael); brothers Morris, Edward (Theresa) and John (Ann). Leaving to mourn brother Mike (Mary) and 6 nieces Mary (Michael), Gerri (Jim), Jean (Dave), Joanne (Robie), Elizabeth (Doug) and CarolAnne (Jeff); nephews John Crotty (Florena) and Bill Crotty; long list of great nieces and nephews including Dianne, Mellissa, Stephanie, Kathryn, Matthew, Joey, Ted, Michael and Tim; special friend Agnes Howlett; also other relatives and friends. DUNNE, Richard (Dick) Patrick - Passed peacefully away on April 25, 2005 at the Health Sciences Centre, Richard (Dick) Dunne, retired employee of Public Works Canada, aged 80 years. Predeceased by his first wife, Marie (Sinyard) in 1985; his brother: John and sisters: Margaret Dunne and Loretto Myrick. Leaving to mourn his wife, Minnie (Diamond); his children: Joanne Glassman (David Weeks), Michelle Power (John), Bryan (Kathleen Broders), and David (Dominique Langevin) of Vancouver; his grandchildren: Shaina and Stephen Glassman, Colin Power, Ritchie, Gavin and Cameron Dunne; his sister: Carmel Brown of Grand Falls-Windsor; the family of his first wife, Marie (Sinyard) and the Diamond/Hookey family; also, a large circle of family and friends. Predeceased by her loving parents Andrew and Gladys McGrath; her loving husband Ronald and sister Mame Sawers. Leaving to mourn and lovingly missed by her sons Glenn (Nichole) and John (Ann Marie); sister Bette; brothers Gord (Ruby) and Mick; three granddaughters Ashlin, Rachael and Claudia; also nieces, nephews, and special friends Nance Baird, Shirl Tulk, Lena Jordan and Joan Kerwin along with a large circle of special friends and relatives. JANES, Hubert – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre on Tuesday, April 19, 2005, in his 60th year, surrounded by his wife Sheila (nee McGrath) of 37 years, his daughters Leona (Uriah Williams), Tywanna (Paul Carew); and son Hubert Janes Jr. (Tammy Day). Leaving to mourn seven grandchildren: Matthew, Benjamin, and Zachary Williams; Kylar Day-Janes; Natasha, Alexis and Evan Carew. Predeceased by mother Hazel and father Benjamin and ten sisters and brothers. Leaving to mourn brothers: Russell, Robert, Billy and Derek; sisters: Pearl, Linda, Juanita, Dorice and Betty; close friend Ed Walsh; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. MARTIN, Josephine (Tina) nee Tobin- passed peacefully away the Palliative Care Unit, L.A. Miller Centre on April 17th, 2005 surrounded by loving children, brothers, sisters, brothers and sisters-in-law. Tina Martin aged 65 years. Predeceased by loving husband Maurice and parents Edward and Elizabeth Tobin. Martin, Margaret M. (Ryan). Passed peacefully away Saturday, April 9th, 2005, at St. Patrick’s Mercy Home in the presence of family and close friends, Margaret (Ryan) Martin, formerly of Red Island, Placentia Bay, in her 83rd year. Predeceased by her husband Jean-Paul, sisters Elizabeth Barry, Nellie Fitzpatrick, and brothers Frank, Pat and Bill Ryan. Leaving to mourn her sister, Anne Doyle (Codroy Valley), sisters- in-law Lizzie Ryan (Placentia), Josephine Ryan (Stephenville) and Emmie Ryan (Bishop’s Falls); a large number of nieces and nephews, and devoted friends Rita Bursey and Marianne Gossip. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road, 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Sunday, April 10th. In lieu of flowers donations in her memory may be made to St. Patrick’s Mercy Home. MATCHIM, Anna Christina (Stamp) – Passed peacefully away at the Health Sciences Centre, April 15th, 2005, age the age of 58, after a courageous battle with cancer. Leaving to mourn her loving husband Douglas and son Stephen (Jennifer); brother Ron (Marge), Bob (Marina), Marg (Fred Walsh), Anita, Rita, David (Kay); mother-in-law Ivy Matchim; brother-in-law Bob (Joan) and sister-in-law Suzanne (John O’Neill); special niece Marian Doyle (Gary) along with a number of nieces, nephews and close friends. Anna had a long career as a teacher, most recently at St. Francis of Assisi, Outer Cove. Her aim through the years was to have touched a chord with her many students so that they could achieve their best. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. McGrath, Elizabeth Anne – July 31, 1932 – April 23, 2005. Woman of Letters. Mother of James, Anne, Elizabeth, and Joanna. Grandmother to Emily, Robbie, Leah, Alex and Elizabeth. Daughter of Dr. James McGrath and Anita Kearney McGrath. Sister of John, Sheila, Mary, Janet, Leslie, Antonia, Carol, Robin, Kearney and the late Seamus. Also family and friends to a multitude. MERCER, Mary M. (nee Glynn) – Passed peacefully away at Chancellor Park on Friday, April 01, 2005, Mary Margaret Mercer, aged 86 years. Predeceased by her husband William F. (2001) and daughter-in-law Cabrini (1991). The last surviving child of her parents, Anthony and Mary Glynn of Bay Bulls, she was predeceased by brothers Michael, John, Bill and Anthony, and sisters Queen Maloney and Annie Beazley. Left with fond and loving memories are her son Wayne (wife Ann, and her son Mark), brother-in-law Hector Mercer (Sadie), and her only God-child and special niece, Betty Williams. Also left to mourn her passing are a large number of other relatives and friends, especially Reg (Irene) Sutton, Don (Theresa) Sutton, Vera Broderick, and lifetime neighbour Helen Penney.
