Death, Burial, Cemetery & Obituaries

Geneva Taylor
The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Saturday, March 6, 2004, of Geneva Taylor, of Taylor Road, North Bedeque, aged 87 years.
Born at North Bedeque, she was the daughter of the late James and Fannie (Ives) Taylor. Survived by her sister Jennie Taylor, North Bedeque.
Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. Interment later in the North Bedeque Cemetery. Visiting hours Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Memorial donations to the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

George Garnett Warren
The death occurred peacefully, at his late residence, surrounded by his family, on Monday, March 8, 2004, of George Garnett Warren, of 371 Brophy Avenue, Summerside.
Beloved husband of Wilna (Ballum) and dear father of Jeffery (Shirley) and Shelley (Kenny Francis). Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Jennifer, Emily, Nicholas, Blake and Hailee; brother Donald and sister Sheila and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his father Garnett; mother Lana (Haslam); step-mother Melvina (Morrison) and sister-in-law Mabel.
Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:30 p.m. Interment later in Peoples Cemetery, Freetown. No visiting hours by personal request.
Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Peter Praught
The death occurred at his late residence, on Tuesday, July 8, 2003, of Peter 'Herc' Praught, of 138 Arnett Avenue, Summerside, aged 47 years.
Born at Summerside, he was the son of Kathleen (Lister) Praught, of Summerset Manor and the late Arnold Praught.
Survived by his wife Margie (Deighan) Praught. Brother of Sheila (Ted) Gelinas, Edmonton, Alberta; Marion (Denton) Clow, North Bedeque; Ivy(Skip) Young, St. Eleanors; Joe (Carol), Burton, N.B.; Clair (Karen), North Milton; Michael (Debbie), Trail, B.C.; and Bobby, North St. Eleanors. Son-in-law of Vera Deighan, Summerset Manor and the late Charles Deighan. Brother-in-law of Marina (Winston) Cheverie, Moncton, N.B.; Donna (Andy) Lussier, Belleville, Ontario; and Carl (Lillian) Deighan, Summerside.
Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Saturday then to St. Paul s Church, Summerside, for funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Interment in St. Paul s Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 6-9 p.m. Memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.

Keith T.N. Lapp
The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Prince County Hospital on Thursday, July 10, 2003, of Keith T.N. Lapp, FCA, of 290 Lidstone Street, Summerside, aged 79 years.
Born in Ottawa, Ontario, he was the son of the late Clark and Lillian (Watts) Lapp. Keith moved to Summerside in December 1952, after training here for the Royal Canadian Air Force and serving overseas in World War II. He worked for M.F. Schurman and Company for 37 years as comptroller and then vice president of Finance.
He raised his family in Summerside, and volunteered with many organizations, including the YMCA, the Y Service club, the Canadian Celiac Association, the Canadian Red Cross and the United Church. He was born in Ottawa, Ontario, where he graduated from Glebe Collegiate Institute and received his Chartered Accountant designation in 1949.
He became a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of PEI in 1985. He was a long-time director and chairman of the Georgetown Shipyards and a member of the Summerside School Board for many years.
Survived by his wife of 57years, Eleanor (Wimperis) Lapp; by his children Charles 'Chuck' (Sherri), Halifax, N.S.; Anne (David) Krabill, Port Townsend, Washington; Allan (Trish), Oakville, Ontario; Gordon (Micheline), Bedford, N.S.; and Ruth (Brian) March, Dartmouth, N.S.; by grandchildren Michael Lapp, Justin and Travis Cline, Martha, Grace, Paul and Ben Krabill, Victoria, Andrea, Rachael and Alison Lapp, Alex Lapp and Elizabeth March; and a brother Rev. Douglas (Ethel) Lapp, Hamilton, Ontario.
Predeceased by infant daughter Martha Lapp, grandson Allan Krabill and by his brother Robert (Helen) Lapp. Cremation has taken place. Visitation was held at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, on Friday from 6-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Church, Summerside, on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.
Interment will later take place in Peoples Cemetery, Summerside. Memorial donations to the Canadian Celiac Association, Trinity United Church, the Prince County Hospital Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Keith was loved and respected by all who knew him. He will be greatly missed and always remembered.

Gladys Craig
The death occurred at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, on Monday, April 26, 2004, of Gladys Craig, Summerside, aged 91 years.
Born at Jeddore, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Henry and Nancy (Myers) Day.
Survived by daughters Jean (Jordan) Grahonja, Oakville, Ontario; Norma (Laurie) Pealey, Chilliwack, B.C.; and sons Don (Gerene) , Summerside; Blake (Marlene), Comox, B.C.; by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brother John Albert (Lorraine) Day, Jeddore, N.S.; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband Earl Craig; brothers George, Douglas, Bill and Robert Day; and by sisters Jean Brown, Shirley Baker, Daisy Langille and Mary Day.
Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside. No visiting hours by personal request. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will later take place in Peoples Cemetery, Summerside.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Summerset Manor Equipment Fund would be appreciated.

Pansy Murphy
The death occurred at the Summerset Manor, Summerside, on Tuesday, April 27, 2004, of Pansy Murphy, formerly of Chelton, aged 91 years. Born at St. Eleanor s, she was the daughter of the late George and Bertha (Campbell) Rogers.
Survived by daughters Ruby Newport, Kinkora; Vaunda Bigney, Alberta; and Greta (Gary) Stead, Alberta; by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great- great-grandchildren; a sister Jennie Rogers; and by brothers Everett and Lewis Rogers.
Predeceased by her husband Herbert Murphy; sons Claude, Ivan and James Murphy; sisters Ruby Rogers, Margaret Murphy, Caroline Dawson and Marion Rogers; brothers Wyman and Haviland Rogers; and by a daughter-in-law Joanne Murphy.
Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held on Thursday at 1:00 p.m.. Interment will later take place in the Bideford United Church Cemetery. Visiting hours Wednesday from 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.

Bradford (Brad) Cairns
The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, of Bradford 'Brad' Cairns, of Water Street East, Summerside, aged 91 years.
Born at Wilmot, he was the son of the late Benjamin and Winnifred (Yeo) Cairns. Survived by his wife Helen (Walker) Cairns; children Jean (Robert) Miller, Dartmouth, N.S.; Benjamin (Lorna), Summerside; Margaret (Leonard) MacDonald, Grand River; daughter-in-law Nancy Cairns, Stanley Bridge; by 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; a sister Louise and the late Albert Moase; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his beloved son Harold; sisters Helen (Irving) Clark; Georgie (Scott) Cairns; Brad s twin sister Kathleen Cairns; a brother Wyman (Marge); and brother-in-law Roy (Adelaide 'Addie') Walker.
Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Friday, then to Trinity United Church, Summerside, for funeral service at 2.00 p.m. Interment in Peoples Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Trinity United Church or the Prince County Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.

J. Clayton Travers
The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Tuesday, May 11, 2004, of J. Clayton Travers, of Summerside, aged 84 years. Born at Kildare Capes, he was the son of the late John and Jemima (Feakes) Travers.
Survived by his wife Dorothy (Bowness) Travers; children Sandra (Ron) MacDonald, Central Bedeque; Janet Travers, Mount Stewart; Jim (Lynn) Charlottetown; Norma (Doug) Lacey, Christina Lake, B.C.; by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers Arthur (Phyllis), Alberton; Reg (Helen), Charlottetown; a sister Betty Hardy, Alberton; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by a sister Edna Travers and a brother Bill Travers.

Nettie Kathleen MacLeod
The death occurred at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, May 16, 2004, of Nettie Kathleen MacLeod, of 391 Beaver Street, Summerside, aged 80 years.
Born at Sackville, N.B., she was the daughter of the late Wallace and Nettie Chase and was the last surviving member of her family. Survived by her husband Norman MacLeod; by children Norma (Reg) Lipsack, Parksville, B.C.; Joyce (Clarence) Ferrish, Summerside; Cathy MacLeod-Johansen, Courtney, B.C.; Susan MacLeod, Timberlea, N.S.; by grandchildren Jeff Ferrish, Michael and Kerri Lipsack, Laura and Ben Johansen, Meghan and Owen Gwalchmai; great-granddaughter Tyanna Johansen; and by several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers Wallace Jr. And Cedric Chase; and by sisters Eva Withers, Juanita Hicks, Eleanor Drahoff and Joyce Wiley.
Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, where funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Peoples Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. only. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
