Lena Vroom
The passing of Lena Vroom occurred at her home in Fredericton on Sunday, July 20, 2003. She was 77. Born in Rosedale, NB, she was a daughter of the late Frederick and Faye (Hendry) Vroom. She was a secretary with the Maritime Forest Ranger School.
Survived by her children Jeff Vroom and his wife Sandra of Truro, NS, Janice Vroom of Fredericton; 2 grandchildren Matthew and Jonathan Vroom; a brother Weldon Vroom and his wife Marion of Fredericton; a sister Marjorie Gray of Niagara Falls, Ontario; nieces and nephews.
Resting at Bishop s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton with visiting Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from the First Wesleyan Church on Duncan Lane on Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Karl Ingersoll officiating. Interment to follow in the Rural Cemetery Extension. The family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the NB Lung Association.
Margaret Winnifred (Jaffrey) Adams
The passing of Margaret Winnifred (Jaffrey) Adams of Fredericton occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Thursday, May 29, 2003 at the age of 86. Born in Lincoln, NB, she was a daughter of the late Jack and Cora (Hayward) Jaffrey and wife of the late Jesse Burns Adams.
She is survived by a son Glen Adams (Betty); daughter Sally Coffey; chosen daughter Gloria Horsnell; brother Doug Jaffrey (Corlinda); one sister Nellie Langley; four grandaughters Theresa Burge (Jim), Cathy Coffey (Tom), Marilee Rust (Cam), Shawna Horsnell; two grandsons Bob Coffey (Angela), David Adams; special chosen grandson Tom Lyons; three great grandaughters Alicia and Ashley Coffey, and Anna Rust; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents; husband; grandaughter Kathy Horsnell; twin brothers Dan and Jack as infants; sisters Greta Goodine and Ida Jaffrey.
The family will be receiving friends at Bishop's Funeral Home 540 Woodstock Road on Friday May 30, 2003 from 7-9 pm. No funeral by request of the deceased. No flowers by request. Donations to the I.W.K. or a charity of the donor's choice.
Ada E. Armstrong
The passing of Ada Emily Armstrong of Fredericton occurred at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Friday September 19, 2003.
She was 94. Born in Coles Island, NB on May 30, 1909, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Prudence (Camp) Chapman. Her husband, J. Harold Armstrong predeceased her in 1967. Ada was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Fredericton.
She is survived by one sister, Evelyn Griffin of Saint John, NB; one nephew, John Griffin and his wife Nancy of Darlings Island and many grand nieces & grand nephews.
Predeceased by her parents and husband also two brothers, Charles and Ralph and sisters Florence Chandler and Ethel Stephenson.
Resting at Bishop s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will be held Sunday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from Bishop s Funeral Home Chapel on Monday at 2:00 pm. Rev. Paul Fosmark will officiate assisted by Rev. Doug Adamson. Interment in the Rural Cemetery Extension. Memorials to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
Lionel J. Badeau
The death of Lionel Badeau of Mazerolle Settlement, NB, husband of the late K. Germaine (Boyce) Badeau occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital in Fredericton, on Saturday, July 12, 2003. Mr. Badeau was born January 20, 1929, in Lac M gantic, Qu bec. He was a son of the late Victor Badeau and Marie Louise Lavall e. He was employed for 30 years with the Province of New Brunswick. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Fredericton. He was a Past Grand Knight and an Honorary Life Member of Council 1942 of the Knights of Columbus, a Past President of the Capital Branch of the New Brunswick Genealogical Society and a member of la Soci t de g n alogie de Qu bec.
He is survived by four daughters, Mary-Ellen Badeau, Anne-Marie Pond (Leland), Rose Green (Robert) and Julie Tapley (Floyd); two sons, Victor Badeau (Jeanne) and Edward Badeau (Nathalie); seven grandchildren, Daniel (Sheri), Andrew and Nicole Green, Emilie Badeau, Ryan Tapley, Kathleen and Meaghan Pond; five sisters, Denise McCarthy (Robert), Juliette Coholan (Donald), Louise Hebert, Margaret Wallace (Joseph), Claire Gogan (David) and one brother, Real Badeau (Margaret). He was predeceased by two sisters, Jeanne Theriault and Cecile Boyce and five brothers, Robert, Emile, Rosaire, Leo and Roger Badeau.
Visitation will be held at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Rd., Fredericton on Sunday, July 13th from 7 9 pm and on Monday, July 14th from 2 4 pm and from 7 9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at 1pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, Hanwell Rd., Fredericton with Fr. Ralph McRae officiating. Internment will be in Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Hanwell, NB. The family requests people refrain from wearing perfume, cologne or other scented products at the visitation and funeral due to allergies. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
J. William (Bill) Barry
At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on May 17, 2003, J. William (Bill) Barry of Fredericton passed away.
Born in Grand-Anse, NB on March 25, 1915, he was a son of the late William and Laura (Whelton) Barry. Bill was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was Roman Catholic by faith and was employed at a paper mill in Alma, Quebec prior to his retirement. Bill was a veteran of WWII having served overseas in England, France, Holland and Belgium.
Survived by two daughters, Judy Barry of Fredericton and Ellen Barry O'Connor and her husband Tim of Fredericton; a son Gordon Barry of Toronto; a grandaughter Melissa O'Connor and a grandson Ryan O'Connor both of Fredericton; nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents; his wife Mary Ann (Carey) Barry in 1995; brothers Frank and Clifford and sisters Eileen Kelly and Rita Barry.
No visitation. A private service will be held. Memorials to the Alzheimer Society would be appreciated.
Gary Robert Boreland
At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Tuesday July 22, 2003 Gary Robert Boreland of Fredericton passed away at the age of 49. Born in Fredericton and employed as a mechanic, he was a son of the late Benson and Ruth (Hazlett) Boreland.
He is survived by 2 sons Damon of Fredericton, Tyler of Edmonton, Alberta; his fiance Terry; 3 sisters Darlene Grant (Hazen), Linda Bridgeo (Mike) and Katherine Collicot (Chris); 6 brothers Benson Boreland Jr. (Mary), Kenneth (Evelyn), Douglas (Mary), Timothy, Steven (Lori) and Terry (Penny); his fiance Terry s children Joel, Amanda, Christie, Patrick & grandchild Bronte; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at Bishop s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The memorial service will be held from Bishop s Funeral Home on Friday, July 25, 2003 at 2:00 pm. Interment will be held at a later date.
Jacob W. Brooks
The passing of Jacob Waterbury Brooks of Fredericton occurred Wednesday, July 16, 2003.
He was 29. Born in Fredericton, he was a son of Jim and Alma (Waterbury) Brooks.
Jacob is survived by his wife Sabrina Wright; two sons, Spencer and Derek; his parents; three sisters, Letha Barton (Tom), Tara Brooks and Dana Brooks (John) all of Fredericton; two brothers, John Antony Brooks (Melinda) and Leonard Brooks (Sonya) both of Fredericton; one uncle, Peter Sappier (Mary); three aunts, Barb Paul, Shirley Brooks (Eric), Hazel MacMillian, Jean Paul (Leslie) and Julie Lane. Also survived by seven nephews and nieces, Mac, Toni, Katelyn, Allie, Brandon, Matthew and Jamie.
Resting at the home of his parents, Jim and Alma Brooks, 50 Maliseet Drive, Fredericton, on Thursday and Friday with the funeral service taking place at St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Church, on Saturday, July 19, at 12:05 noon with Father Monte Peters officiating. Interment to take place in the St. Anthony's Cemetery.
Pallbearers for the service will be; Trevor Paul, Kenny Sacobie, Harold and Shawn Paul, Jay Brooks and Joey Bear. Honorary Pallbearers will be; Bruce and Chris Paul and Nelson Rose.
Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road have been intrusted with the arrangements.
Walter Edison Brooks
The passing of Walter Edison Brooks occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Thursday, July 17, 2003. He was 81.
Born in Gagetown, he was a son of the late Walter and Lulu (McKee) Brooks. He graduated from Gagetown Grammer School and was a member of Grace United Church, Gagetown all his younger life. Later, he and his wife Betty made Marysville his home and was an active member of Marysville United Church serving on occasion as a Lay Pastor. Edison served with the R.C.A.F. during WWII as a Corporal and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion #15, Marysville. He worked for many years as an Electrician.
Surviving are his wife Florence Elizabeth (Betty) (Campbell) Brooks; a brother James O. Brooks of Fredericton; a sister May Merrill of Fredericton; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Percy and Ralph.
Resting at Bishop s Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton, where visitation will be held Sunday 2-4 and 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held at Bishop s Funeral Home on Monday, July 21, 2003 at 2:00 PM with Rev. Mac Campbell officiating. Interment in the Marysville United Church Cemetery.
Ethel Lydia Bunker
The passing of Ethel Lydia Bunker, of Mazerolle Settlement, occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday, September 21, 2003 at the age of 66. Born in Kingsclear, NB, she was a daughter of the late Earl Norman and Annie May (Courser) Gallagher.
She is survived by her husband Roy; a son Terry; a daughter Debra Marie MacDonald and her husband Bill; grandchildren Gregory, Jamie, Chris and Jill; one sister Mrs. Rita Miller and her husband Manley of Upper Kingsclear; one aunt Arletta (Lettie) Gallagher of Upper Kingsclear; several nieces, nephews & cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; one sister Glenna Marie Chessie; one brother Winston Earl Gallagher.
No visitation by request of the family. Private cremation will take place. Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of the donor s choice would be appreciated. Bishop s Funeral Home have been entrusted with the arrangements.
Linda Joy Burke
At the Dr. Everett Chalmers regional Hospital on September 6, 2003, Linda J. Burke of Fredericton passed away at the age of 44.
Born in Fredericton, she was a daughter of Harvey Stewart and the late Jeanette (Barry) Stewart.
Linda was Roman Catholic by faith and was employed with M.S.N. Cleaning.
Survived by her husband William; two sons, Billy-Joe at home and Danny Jardine of Blackville; one daughter, Kelly Gallon (Craig) of Blackville; three grandchildren, Dominick, Harley and Jenica; three sisters, marina Connors (Ralph) of Williams Lake, BC, Bonnie Nicholson (Charles) of Lincoln and Rose Stewart (Dale Curtis) of Blackville; three brothers, Robert Stewart (Debbie) of Geary, Bruce Stewart of Lincoln and Sidney Stewart (Wendy Carr) of Geary; a number of nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two children, Theo Stewart and Bonnie Jean Stewart, a grandaughter Caissie; sisters Irene and Debbie; brothers Harvey, Lenord and Lincoln.
