Peacefully at the Kennedy Lodge Nursing Home on Wednesday March 21st, 2001, in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Donald Gregory Higgins. Loving mother of Jim (Joan), Paul (Alice), Donna (Kurt), Chris (Chris), Betty (Ian). Will be sadly missed by her sisters Muriel, Ethel, Marjorie, Jean, and by her brothers John and William. Remembered by her grandchildren Caroline, David, Mark, Peter, Diane, Karen, Jennifer, Danny, Claire, Zak and by her great grandson Josh. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East with Funeral Service in the Chapel on Saturday March 24th, 2001 at 11 o'clock. Interment Resurrection Cemetery. Devoted grandfather to Kimberley Hodge, Matthew and Caeleigh Brohm and Michael, Joshua and Ashley Gillett. Lovingly remembered by sister Jean Bothwell of Bowmanville, Ontario, brother Gordon Jarvie (Dorothy) of Oshawa and the late George Jarvie of B.C. Sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, family and friends. KING, Alan Edward
World War II Veteran, Queen's Own Rifles, Life Member of Can. Corps 42, Royal Canadian Legion Branch 637, passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Centre, Tuesday, March 20, 2001. Alan King, in his 82nd year. Predeceased by his father Edward and mother Annie. Loving husband of June (nee Hawkins). Devoted brother of Ross and wife Monique, niece Carolyn (Ken). Dear father of Jack (Kaye), Ron (Marilyn) and daughter Barb (Pete). Will be greatly missed by grandchildren Francis (Michael) of Calgary, Richard (Mary), Janet (Veto), Sherry (Richard) of Windsor, John (Tracy) of Barrie, Bill (Karen) Shawn of Oshawa. Predeceased by grandson Ronald. Great-grandchildren Michaela, Quentin, Jacqulin, Allyshia, Joseph, Kyle, Breanna, Brendan, Dustin, Amanda, Connor and Cassidy.Alan served in Canada North Atlantic area and United Kingdom from June 1940 - January 1943, returning to Kingston, Ontario 1942, to be re-commissioned to Lieutenant and returned overseas January 1943 and served until 1945. He received the Meritorious Service Award from Can. Corps 42 1967, Centennial Medal 1967, Queen's Jubilee Medal 1977, 125th Anniversary of Confederation 1993, as well as many other medals for service during the war. Alan was Pres. of Can. Corps which he joined in 1953, from 1963-1964, 1975-81, 1985-1992, again 96, 97, 1999. Pres. Ontario Command 1967-1967, 2nd Vice Pres. Dominion Command 1985, 1st Vice Pres. Dominion Command 1996. Alan retired after 30 years from General Motors. He is also survived by his cousins in England. Donations to Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. STUMP, Nancy (nee Nicholas)
A loving wife and mother passed peacefully in Ajax, Ontario on March 20, 2001. Nancy, predeceased by her husband George Milton of Montreal. She leaves her daughters Carol Ann and Daphne, her son George and his wife Joelle King, as well as her grandchildren Darrin and Derek Stump, and Jonathan Nituch and numerous nieces and nephews to mourn her passing. Also predeceased by her brothers and sisters Archie Nicholas (Evelyn), Mary, Sadie, Margaret, Grace, Michael, Peter and John.
