Long time resident of the Courtice area. At Oshawa, after a short illness, on Tuesday, January 2nd, 2002 in his 87th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Jean (nee Tamlin) for 66 years. Dear father of Myrna McCullough and her husband Paul of Steenburg Lake, Rick and his wife Gloria of Oshawa and Paul and his wife Lin of Burton, B.C. Lovingly remembered by 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Brother of Howard Peterson of Cornwall and the late Everett (Pete) and Kenneth. Funeral Service was held in the Chapel of OSHAWA FUNERAL SERVICE, Thornton Chapel , 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) on Saturday, January 5th, 2002. Interment Eden Cemetery, Cambray. Peacefully at Hillsdale Manor Oshawa on Wednesday January 2nd, 2002. Mary (nee Baker) in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Bernard Shields. Loving mother of Joan Bouckley, Gordon Shields and his wife Elsie, and Don Shields and his wife Marielle. Dear Grandmother of Bonnie, Stephen, Brent, Barry, Susan, Alison, Mark, and Daphnie. Mary will be sadly missed by her nine Great grandchildren. Survived by her sister Rose of British Columbia. Predeceased by her brothers Vincent, Earl, Arthur, Bernard, Wilfred, Fred, and Francis, and sisters Mary and Teresa. A special Thankyou to the staffof Hillsdale Manor Oshawa for their care and compassion. Resting at the Armstrong Funeral Home, 124 King Street East Oshawa, with a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Gregory the Great Catholic Church on Saturday January 5th, 2002 at 10:30 a.m. Interment Resurrection Catholic Cemetery Whitby. Cherished grandmother of Penny (Scott) Heard, Laura Jo Gunter (Bill Atkinson), Scott (Anne) Gunter, Clark Gunter (Tanya Davies), Sandra (John) Frey, Lisa (Brad) Eagleson, Craig (Kelly) Venning, Chad Venning (Janice Page), Mark (Lisa) McMillan, Carla (Fabio) Guglielmo and Dana McMillan.
