Carrigan (of Pictou, Nova Scotia), and the late Constance Carrigan. Survived by brothers Bill and his wife Judy of Port Hope, Robert and his wife Muriel of Oshawa, Edward and his wife Isobel of Pictou, Nova Scotia, George and his wife Terry of Calgary, Alberta, Harold of Oshawa; sister Gloria of Whitby; and predeceased by sister Marie Fitzpatrick. Fondly remembered by his many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Charles' life will be held on Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the McEachnie Funeral Home, 28 Old Kingston Road, Ajax. (Retired Fire Chief City of Oshawa) At Lakeridge Health Oshawa on Monday April 15, 2002, Arthur Forsythe beloved husband and companion of Edwina (Win) for 29 years and the late Joan (1971). Arthur will be lovingly remembered by his son Dr. John L. Forsythe, his wife Sherri and their children Allison and Brent of Port Neches, Texas, his son John Bragg of Lindsay, his son Graham of Pickering. He is survived by his sisters Clara (Ross) Bennett of Oshawa, Louise Varcoe of Bowmanville, Marjorie of Brampton, his brother Harold (Edna) of Edmonton, AB, and he will certainly be missed by his many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Benson and Frances Forsythe, his sister Stella Burr and his brother George Edwin (Red). Art was born in Oshawa on April 6th, 1922 and he attended early school years in a one room schoolhouse in Crooked Creek, until he moved with his family to Oshawa where he attended King Street Public School and OCVI. He left school in 1939 to join the Royal Canadian Navy where he served until 1947 being discharged as Chief Yeoman. Upon return to Oshawa he worked for the Royal Canadian Legion in the Toronto Provincial Office, then as aCity Tax Assessor and in 1955 he joined the City of Oshawa Fire Department as a firefighter. In the early years he was also an ambulance driver. For many years, he was a first aid instructor for St. John Ambulance and was honoured by the Priory Council for service of Excellence. In 1961 he was awarded the St. John Medal by the Governor General at a ceremony in Ottawa. A former member of the Oshawa Rock and Mineral Club, he helped many young people develop a love of rock collecting. Arthur's previously held memberships included, a lieutenant in the Canadian Power Squadron, Oshawa Curling Club, Lawn Bowling, Yacht Club. Arthur was also an avid bridge player and a member of St. Matthew s Marathon Bridge Club. He was a founding member of St. Matthew s Anglican Church, Oshawa, he dearly loved his many years of involvement with the church and God's work. Rest true and faithful servant, your compassion and care for your fellow man will be a legacy that will live on forever. Deeply mourned and missed by his constant and loving companion Tip. Memorial service will be held from St. Matthew s Anglican Church (135 Wilson Rd.
