It is with profound sorrow that the family announces the passing of their very much loved “Gerry” at the age of 80 years. Beloved husband of Muriel (née Dionne). Father of Pierre (wife Lilliane), Louise, Jo-Anne Harrison (husband Gary), Michelle Bourke (husband James), Francine and Jacqueline Rocca (husband Claudio). Grandfather of Catherine Bell, Rozanne Dignard, Suzanne Montgomery (husband Robert), Jodie Harrison and Leslie Harrison. Dear brother of Adolphe (predeceased, wife Meriza), Albert (predeceased, wife Marie), Irene Ivasek (husband Joseph predeceased), Napoleon (predeceased), Roger (predeceased), Therese Spaul (predeceased, husband John also predeceased), Lorraine Trudeau (husband Robert), Joe (wife Jean), Annabelle (husband Alphonse), Bob predeceased , Albini (wife Maria) and Lina-Rose Boudreau (husband Aurèle). Fondly remembered as a Chef and restauranteur in Sudbury for many years, Gerry was also an avid fisherman, hunter, golfer and bridge player. A life well-lived, and a man well-loved. We will love you and miss you forever. At the deceased request, there will be no visitation. DITTBURNER, Evelyn “Ev” (nee Timm)
In loving memory of Evelyn “EV” (nee Timm) Dittburner, 72 years, who passed away Wednesday, July 31st, 2002 at her home. Beloved wife of Richard (Ford) Dittburner (predeceased 1992). Loving mother of Richard of Brampton. Loving mother-in-law of Margaret of Stratford. Cherished Nona of 3 grandsons, Matthew, Daniel and Jamie. Dear daughter of Henry and Amelia (Brose) Timm both predeceased. Born in Ottawa, she marriage Richard in 1955. They owned and operated businesses in Nairn Centre and Espanola. Ev had served as a active volunteer with the Diabetic Association. She will be sadly missed but always remembered with love, especially for her cheerfulness.

FENNESSY, Michael
In loving memory of Michael Fennessy, 77 years, of Copper Cliff, who passed away peacefully Thursday evening, August 1st, 2002 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site surrounded by his loving family. A smelter worker he retired from INCO in 1988 with 30 years service. Michael was born in Carrick-on-suir, Tipperay Ireland. He settled in the Sudbury area in 1958 from England. A Roman Catholic he belonged to St. Stanislaus Parish. A decorated WWII Veteran he served with the Royal Air Force in Africa. Michael was a well known and respected member of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #224 Copper Cliff. He will be remembered as a person who was always quick to help friends and neighbours. Michael embraced life whether celebrating his Irish spirit with his comrades at the Legion or being a good friend to someone in need. He will be sadly missed but never forgotten and: “And until we meet again, Michael, May God hold you in the palm of his hand”. Beloved husband of Mary (Anderson) Fennessy. Loving father of Martin (wife Karen) of Welland, Marian of Toronto, Lynda (husband Daniel Moss) of Lively, Patricia (husband Gordon Maxwell) of Waterloo, Barbara Okanik of Font Hill and Diane (husband Rob Richardson) of Welland. The family announces with sorrow his death Tuesday, July 30, 2002 in Dowling, at the age of 57 years. Son of the late Léo Lavigne and of the late Maria Lavigne (née Labelle). Husband of Lise Lavigne (née Doucette). Cherished father of Ian (wife Shelly) of Val Caron and Brigitte Lavigne-Dagenais (husband Glen) of Hanmer. Loving brother of Bernadin Lavigne (wife Rachelle) of Cache Bay, Gaston Lavigne (wife Cécile) of Verner, Gerard Lavigne (wife Yolande) of Chelmsford, Germaine Lagrandeur (husband Henri) of Hanmer, Marianne Poirier (husband Roland) of Field and Carmen Simard (husband Denis) of Espanola. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his grandchildren, Brittney and Brianna). Mr. Lavigne was a retired INCO miner. MARSHALL, Robert “Bob” Bruce

Former wife and friend Doris predeceased. Bob worked as an engineer at C.N.R. for over 30 years. He was a tin smith and enjoyed fishing and hunting. He loved spending time at his cottage at Laforest especially working in the vegetable garden. METZLER, Gustav Karl
In loving memory of Gustav Karl Metzler, 75 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Sunday morning, August 4th, 2002 at the Sudbury Regional Hospital - Laurentian Site with his loving wife at his side. Born in Wolfach, Germany he marriage Christine (Lehmann) in 1953 in Sudbury. Gustav came to Canada in 1952 settling in Sudbury in 1953. He was a mason at Inco having 32 years service, retiring in 1987. A passionate trade unionist, he was proud of his role in founding Local 6500 of the United Steelworkers of America in Sudbury. His finest hours were spent at his camp on Windy Lake or his many trips to Germany and Myrtle Beach and Florida with his best friend and wife Christine at his side. Beloved husband for 49 years and best friend of Christine (Lehmann) Metzler of Sudbury who reflects about their relationship, “we shared the very best of times, and Gustav left me too soon, but I will always cherish the beautiful memories of our lives together”. Dear son of Alfred and Irma Metzler predeceased. Loving brother of Wolfdieter Metzler, Joachim Metzler and Hiltrud Roming all of Germany. Sadly missed by many cousins and nephews in Germany. Suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, July 25, 2002 at the age of 90 years. Beloved wife of the late Frank Miller. Loving mother of Gayle (Dennis O’Brien) and Raynor “Ray” (Jean). Predeceased by a son Bruce (Kip). Sadly missed by 8 grandchildren and 12 great- grandchildren. Predeceased by three sisters Ida, Margaret, Evelyn, and by four brothers Leslie, Steve, James and William. A funeral service was held on Monday, July 29th, 2002 in Mayo, Quebec.

She was a kind and giving friend and neighbour. Beloved wife of Frank Pugliese Sr. predeceased 1979. Loving mother of Frank (wife Stephanie) of Sault Ste. Marie, Rose Marie (husband Leonard Ruffo) of Scarborough and Thomas (wife Helen of Ajax) predeceased 1971. Cherished grandmother of Caroline (Paul), Thomas (Marisa) and Mary Ellen Pugliese (Richard), Paula and Allysia Pugliese and Joseph Ruffo (Kim) and six great grandchildren. RICHER, “Chic” Laurent Hervé

A life resident of Sudbury Laurent lived many years in the Flour Mill moving to Naughton 8 years ago. He was a Roman Catholic. Chic was a keen Toronto Maple Leafs Fan. He had been a painter with City Painters for 18 years retiring in 1990. Laurent will be remembered as a loving and devoted father and grandfather. ROBERTS, Minnie (nee Tanner)
In loving memory of Minnie (nee Tanner) Roberts, 78 years, of Sudbury, who passed away Wednesday, July 31st, 2002 at her residence entering the Glory of God’s eternal home. She was born in Wales and marriage Maldwyn Roberts in Wales in 1953. Minnie came to Sudbury in 1988 having previously resided in Gore Bay, Wilfred, and Argentina. A woman of faith she attended All Nations Church where she actively participated in the church’s ministries and fellowship. She enjoyed socializing with her friends at the Landmark over a cup of coffee or a crafts session. Always an active person Minnie led by example in living a life full of light and love. Beloved wife of Maldwyn Roberts predeceased 1989. Loving mother of Margaret of Mexico, William (wife Tina) of Toronto and Anna (husband Terry Mott) of Hanmer. RYSKI, Naomi Lucille (Perras)
In loving memory of Naomi Lucille (Perras) Ryski, 88 years, who passed away Saturday evening, August 3rd, 2002 at her beloved camp. Devoted wife of Ludwig Ryski (predeceased 1956). Loving daughter of Albert and Rose Perras both predeceased. Dearest sister of Joffre (wife Bunny) of Sudbury, Dick predeceased (wife Mary of Streetsville) and Clarence “Dice” predeceased (wife Lorraine of Waterloo). Cherished aunt of many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and one great great nephew. Born in Sudbury, she grew up in Copper Cliff. Naomi was the secretary of Christ the King Church for many years. She enjoyed knitting, watching the Toronto Blue Jays and especially spending time at her cottage on Long Lake. SARK, Aarne Michael
In loving memory of Aarne, 50 years, of Stroud, Ontario and Sudbury, Ontario, having tragically died on July 20, 2002 on Highway 11 in Bradford, Ontario. Sadly missed by daughter Paula Clark, grand- children Tyler and Samantha of Gander, Newfoundland, brother Peter of Toronto and Sudbury, sister Margaret Boczek of Sudbury, nieces/nephews Matthew, Sheila, Michael, Karen and Tracy and sister Annette Mullola of southern Ontario. Predeceased by parents Helvi Sark (Hamalainen) and August Sark of Sudbury. Aarne was a science and mathematics teacher with York Region Catholic High School Board, most recently at St. Joan of Arc Secondary and Father Bresani Secondary Schools. Previous to teaching, he was a police officer with the metropolitan Toronto Police and a professional truck driver. An academic achiever, he earned his honours bachelor of science degree and teaching certificate at York University. A man of action, Aarne helped found the York Wings Motorcycle Club and the first annual Estaire snowblower race yes, I mean snowblower, loved nature and photography, was a handyman mechanically and an ordained minister. Friends may call at the INNISFIL FUNERAL HOME, 7910 Yonge St. in Stroud (Innisfil) on Tuesday August 6th, 2002 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Interment Sixth Line Cemetery, Innisfil. STEVENSON, Sister Vivian (Sister M. Vivian)
It is with sorrow, the Sisters of St. Joseph and the Stevenson family announce the death of Sister Vivian Stevenson who died peacefully on Friday, August 02, 2002, at St. Joseph’s Motherhouse, North Bay, following a long illness. Born in Sudbury, Sister Vivian entered The Sisters of St. Joseph of Sault Ste. Marie in 1953. Sister Vivian spent fifty years ministering and serving others through her cooking and teaching talents. Time was spent in Port Arthur (Thunder Bay), Schreiber and Sudbury but she spent the past thirty years in North Bay where she was Head of Dietary at St. Joseph’s Motherhouse (1964-1982) and taught at Canadore College (1983-1997). Vivian also ministered at St. Rita’s Church, North Bay for many years. She retired in 1997 but continued to work tirelessly for others, especially the disadvantaged, even as her health deteriorated. Vivian brought joy to all those with whom she worked and met. She will be dearly missed by her community, family and many friends. Predeceased by her parents, Edward and Alice Stevenson, sister Agatha Laframboise and brother-in-law Leo Craig, Sister Vivian is survived by her sister Cecilia (Cec) Craig, brothers Joseph (Bill) Stevenson, Frank Stevenson, brother-in-law Joe Laframboise and many nieces and nephews. The body of Sister Vivian Stevenson will be received in Holy Family Chapel, St. Joseph’s Motherhouse on Sunday, August 04, at 2:00 p.m. (Wake 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.). The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 05, in Sacred Heart Chapel, St. Joseph’s Motherhouse. Burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, North Bay.
WOLFGRAM, Nelda H. (nee Grahl)

She was born in Rankin and marriage Edward G. Wolfgram in 1941 in Rankin. A longtime Lively resident Nelda was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church where she had actively participated in the congregation’s fellowship, ministries and activities. Nelda was devoted to her loving family especially her grandchildren. Beloved wife of Edward G. Wolfgram predeceased 1975. Loving mother of Ronald (wife Sondra) of Sault Ste Marie, Bryan (wife Sharon) and Allan (wife Christina) both of Lively. Cherished grandmother of Lise (husband Al), Kelly (husband Fabio), Jenny, Darrell (fiancée Anna), Marc and John; great grandchild Sasha. Dear daughter of Albert and Dora Grahl predeceased.
