Dearfather and father-in-law of Sherry (Fortunato) Amendola of Scarborough, Debbie (Glenn) Jeffrey of Whitby and Ken Lomax of Whitby. Grandfather of Leslie, Laura, Sarah, Michael, Kevin and Cameron. A family service was held at the Mangan Funeral Home, Beaverton (705-426 5777) on Friday. Interment Lakeview Cemetery, Kirkfield. LONGEWAY, William (Bill) Joseph
June 28, 1932 July 1, 2002. With great peace and dignity, while holding his sister Yvonne s hand and with his brother-in-law Lyle at his side, Bill Longeway left his earthly home at Strathaven Life Care Centre, Bowmanville, Ontario, in his 71st year to join his Saviour and his mother and father in Glory. Bill was born in Stratford, Ontario; the loving and much-loved son of the late William Longeway and his wife Stella McIlhargey, formerly of 328 Brunswick Street. During his youth, Bill was employed at Prestonia and the Department of Highways in Stratford. In 1964 Bill moved to Owen Sound where he was employed by RCA and later A-1 Cleaning. In 1994, due to declining health, Bill moved to Newcastle, Ontario, to be near his sister and her family. He was an adherent of Newcastle Fellowship Baptist Church. Bill is loved, remembered and survived by his only sibling, his adoring and devoted younger sister, Yvonne and husband Lyle Bender of Newcastle, Ontario; nieces Darolyn and husband Philip Jones of Janetville, Ontario, Delores Bender-Hone and fianc David Summers of Lakeside, Ontario, nephew Tony Bender and fianc e Cindy Shaw-Thomkins of Kendal, Ontario; grand-nieces Melody, Crystal, Brittany, Christina, and Brittaney, grand-nephews Jeremy, Joshua, Matthew, Christopher, and Jacob. Remembered by special cousins Agnes and Preston Howard, Carol Doerr, Jim Howard, Donna Crowley, Joy Johnson (Roger), Suzanne Brownell (Bob), and Genieva Longeway, Sr. Lucille Godfrey, Bill and Rhena Godfrey, and Theresa Godfrey.
