At Foster brook Long Term Care Facility on Tuesday, September 24th, 2002 in her 96th year. Ethel, beloved wife of the late Alexander Ritter. Loved mother of Gertrude Hendrikx of Oshawa, Carole and her late husband Gordon Ritter of Cameron and Herbert and his wife Esther of Oshawa. Sister of Vera, Edward, James, Gordon and Dorothy. Loved grandmother of 11 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. Friends may pay their respects at the Morris Funeral ChapeL, Bowmanville on Thursday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. Funeral service in the Morris Chapel on Friday at 1pm. Interment at Bowmanville Cemetery. BENTLEY, Evelyne Edythe (Gallagher) -

January 21, 1906 - Sept 23, 2002. passed away peacefully in her 97th year at Orchard Villa Retirement Home/Community Nursing Center, Pickering, with her family at her side. Devoted wife of 70 years to the late John Arthur (Sept 28, 2000). This special woman was the caring mother of Jacqueline Hird (Walter), the late Alan (1985), Helen Linton (William) and Robert (Mary). She was a loving and supportive grandmother to Deborah, David, Peter, Shawn, Renee, Jeffery, Melani, Vanessa and Christopher. She enjoyed spoiling her great grandchildren Kelley, Trystan, Tyler, Torin, Tavian, Brandon, Troy, Clay, Ben, Samantha, Jennifer, Kristen, Andrew and Kevin. Her teaching career in Northern Ontario and Pickering School Area 2 was enjoyable and rewarding. She also kept herself busy with the Easter Rebekah Lodge, gardening, knitting, reading, quilting and baking. Caring for others was an important part of her life. A celebration of her life will be held in the Chapel at Orchard Villa Retirement Center, 1955 Valley Farm Road, Pickering on Saturday, September 28. The family will welcome friends at 1:30 pm, followed by a reception. Cremation. Private burial. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Charity of your choice would be appreciated

Vernon Hudson of Nestleton, beloved husband of the late Irene (nee Bangay) and the late Amy (nee O Brien). Loving father of Ken Hudson and his wife Shirley of Nestleton, David Hudson and his wife Lucy of Cadmus, Doug Hudson of Nestleton, Paul Hudson of Enniskillen and Glen Hudson of Port Perry. Loved grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Phyllis Faucet of Toronto, Norma Groves of Toronto and he was predeceased by his brother Donald Hudson of St. Thomas. Relatives and friends will be received at the WAGG FUNERAL HOME, "McDermott-Panabaker Chapel", 216 Queen Street in Port Perry (905 985-2171) on Tuesday from 7 - 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, September 25th from 12 2 p.m. A Service to celebrate the life of Vernon Hudson will be held in the Chapel at 2 p.m. with Reverend Hugh Kernohan officiating. After a lengthy illness at the Ajax and Pickering Health Centre on Monday September 23, 2002, with his sister by his side. Thomas Lannigan, age 69. Much loved brother of Marie (Don Lawrence), Anne Upton, John (Jeannina), and Marcella MacDonald. Dear brother-in-law of Jean. Lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Dear sister of Phyllis Detenbeck and her late husband Alan. Dorothy is predeceased by her sisters Freda Hollman and Kathleen Campbell and brothers George, Wilmot, Bert, Kenneth, Harry, Carl, Earl and Ross. Survived by his grandmother Bridget and the late Emelio Marsella. Special Uncle of Leighton and Caleb. Brian will be sadly missed by his many family and friends. Much loved grandma to 20 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Predeceased by brother Karl and sister Elsa. She will be sadly missed by sisters Lenora and Alma, brothers Raymond (Mildred), Paul (Jean) brother-in-law Eddy (Edward). Fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews. Dear aunt of Betty and her husband Roger Lewis, Ralph Cathcart and his wife Judy, Neil Cathcart, Beverly Reimer, and Susan and her husband Stephen Bradley. Cherished great aunt of Jeffrey, Bradley, Katelyn, Christina, Brittney, Stephen and Allison. Remembered with love by her sons Douglas MacGregor and wife Marcie and their son James, and Barry and his daughters Leica and Niki and children Daymon and Kelsey, remembered also by her daughters Nancy and husband Tony Calvert and their son Kevin and wife Allison and daughter Jenna, all of Ottawa, and Leah and husband Andre Begin and their daughters Tara and Tanya and husband John of Victoria B.C., and Darlene and sons Brandon and Kyle of Whitby. Survived by her sister Irene and her brothers Frank and Vincent. Sadly missed by many other family members and friends. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. A memorial service was held at the W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, Whitby on Sunday September 22, 2002 at 4pm.
