Suddenly on Friday January 31, 2003. Susan, only 41, was the loving mother to Shawnie and Samantha. She was known as the "coolest" mom in Whitby. She was the beloved wife of Wolfgang, and will be sadly missed by her mother Lucia Hanzal, brother Peter Hanzal, sister-in-law Brenda, and nephew Jamison. Susie will be sadly missed by all her friends and family and will always be in our hearts. The family will receive friends at the W.C. Town funeral Chapel from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm Wednesday. At the age of 76 lost her battle with cancer on Thursday January 30th at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Best friend and dearly loved wife of Grant for almost 60 years. Dearest mom of Ronald (predeceased), Glenda and her husband John, Gary and his love Lori. She will be greatly missed by grandchildren Tyler (Jill), Troy (Tara), Arden and Jaime. Thanks to so many dear friendsfor their support of prayers, kind words, and good wishes during her illness. To the kind and ever supportive nurses in the Cancer Treatment Center, 6F, and palliative care, the family is most grateful. Visitation will be at the W.C. It is with great sorrow and sadness that the family of Arlene Drake wish to announce her passing on Wednesday January 29, 2003 in her 65th year at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. She peacefully succumbed to a courageous battle with lung cancer. Arlene s memory will be forever cherished by her adoring husband Harold, of 39 years, loving children Kern, Lori (Troy) and Cheryl and the loves of her life, her grandsons, Jamie and Connor. She is survived by her mother Lily Pollard. Arlene will be fondly remembered by her brother Bill, sister-in-law Cathy, nephew Ian and special friends James and Roman. Arlene enriched the lives of all who knew her. Her selfless, giving nature will live on in our hearts forever. Arlene and her family would also like to thank the exceptional nursing staff of 6F Oncology and Dr. Peter Noble for their kindness and compassion during a very difficult time. Said "goodbye" early on January 29th 2003. He died in his 73rd year after a short illness in Lennox and Addington Hospital Napanee and leaves to mourn his beloved wife Marion, children Bryan (Cheryl), James (Donna), Barbara (Allen Lyons) and Jeffrey as well as his grandchildren Lynda, Andrew, Michael, Jason and Crystal. Cec is also missed by his surviving sisters Bernice Lowery, Margaret Irvine and Nancy Eggleton, his mother-in-law Thelda Rutt and many relatives and friends in Napanee, Lindsay, Haliburton and throughout Ontario. Cremation has taken place, but a brief Service of Committal will be held in the chapel of Mount Lawn Cemetery, 2000 Dundas Street East, Whitby, on Saturday February 15 at 12 noon. Flowers are respectfully declined, but please consider donating time or money to your favorite Charity or, as a lasting memorial to Cec, teach a child to fish, or to play ball or to skate, he would have liked that.
