Past Matron of Durham Lodge Chapter #181 of the Eastern Star, Past Grand Officer for Grand Chapter of Ontario, Past Grand Secretary of the Grand Chapter of Ontario and Past District Deputy and Matron of District 11 of Grand Lodge. On Friday, April 11, 2003 at the age of 90 years. Leola beloved wife of the late George Thrasher, together forever. Loving Aunt of Lynda and her husband Francis MacDonald. Loved Great Aunt of Mark, Tim and Ray. Dear sister of the late Jack Miller. Dear and special cousin of Alice Harrison and Laura Harrison. Vera, beloved wife of the late Charlie Read, and the late Chris Kaan. Loving mother of Donald James Read and his wife Adrienne Joan, Barbara May Lee and her husband Michael, and Noreen Anne Poyton and her husband Ray. Lovingly remembered by her grandchildren Kathy (Ron), Michael (Cathy), Karen (Steve), Jeff, John (Carrie), Susan, and Sharon, and great grandchildren Colin, Pamela, Darren, Krista, Bobby, Christopher, Michelle, Gregory, and Nicholas. Vera loved her musicand was very involved in choirs and at the Oshawa Senior Citizens Centre playing the piano, and spent many hours with her charity work. Leon, with his family, moved from Cobourg in1958 to become manager of Auto Workers Credit Union until his retirement in 1987. Throughout his career, Leon also served on the executive of many Boards of Directors. Being an avid golfer, he particularly enjoyed serving on the Board of Directors of the Oshawa Golf Course from 1974-1983. During their life together, Leon & Dorothy enjoyed extensive travel & spending countless hours on the golf course. Beloved wife of the late James Nightingale. Loving mother of Joanne Nightingale of Toronto, Lynn and her husband Wayne Barry of Nobel, Janet and her husband Stew McGibbon of Oshawa. Lovingly remembered by her granddaughters Melissa and Sarah. Lillian was a special aunt of Judy Douglas and will be sadly missed by her great nieces Jane and Susan.
