Peacefully with family by her side at Centennial Place Long Term Care Centre Millbrook on Saturday May 22, 2004 in her 69th. year. Joan, beloved wife of Armond Hollingsworth of Bethany. Dear mother of Terry (Wendy) Hollingsworth of Orono and Laurie (Scott) Stephens of Pontypool. Predeceased by her infant son Danny. Lovingly remembered by grandchildren Cassandra, Brandon, Daniel & Alycia . Dear sister of Arthur (Mary) Marshall of Orillia, Don (Jackie) Marshall of Consecon and the late John Marshall. Sadly missed by family, friends, residents and staff of Centennial Place. VAN DER MAALE, Samuel
Age 87 years. Thankful to the Lord for a long & blessed life, God took to Himself at Sunnycrest Nursing Home, Whitby, on Saturday May 22nd 2004. Beloved husband of Inkje (Bruinsma) & the late Adriana. Dear brother of Anthony, Izak, & Johannes. BARBER, Douglas Edward (Ted)
After a short illness on May 21st, 2004 at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. In his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Marion for 57 years. Dear father of Dave and daughter Wendy (Wayne) Brumwell. Survived by brother Bill and sisters Jean Wretham and Isobel Carscallen. Will be missed by many nieces and nephews. The Barber family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital. Family and friends are invited to visit the Low & Low Funeral Home, on Thursday, May 27th, 2004 from 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Ted's life will be held in the chapel on Friday, May 28th, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. In Ted's memory, donations may be made to the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.

BELL, Ernest Reginald (Ernie)
December 9th, 1921 - May 21, 2004 passed away peacefully at his home in Oshawa, Friday, May 21st, 2004. Ernie was a WWII Veteran serving with The Ontario Tanks, 2nd Light Field Ambulance as a medic; he worked for a short time in Skinners (Houdaille) after the war. He was later approached to become a First Aid Attendant with General Motors or Canada and he worked there until his retirement in 1979. He was involved in youth sports and became the manager of The Marano Shoes, Black Hawks Hockey Team, Major Bantam Division until his retirement. Ernie has been an active member with The Canadian Corp Unit 42; he was also President of Unit 42 and was given an Honorary Life Time membership. He held, also, the position of Ontario Command President, lst Vice President of Dominion Command and was asked to take the position of 2nd Vice President in 2002, which was an honor for him to do. The distinguished presentation of the Queen's Jubilee Medal was bestowed upon him in 2002. Ernie was predeceased by his wife and the love of his life, Marian (nee Davies); cherished father of Lynn (Terry) Cook, Janice (Dallas) Hewitt, Bill (Nancy) Bell, Ron (Evelyn) Cox. Greatly loved and truly missed Poppa of Ron Simmons (Angela), David Simmons (Selby) Ellen Cooper (Dennis), Steve & Michelle (Hamilton) Cooper, Darryl McMaster, Brandy Bell, John & Daniel Cox (England), Debbie Barnett (Eng) Stephen (Susie) Barnett; (Eng) Great granddaughters Rachel Daley, Brittany & Nicole Simmons, Shayla Simmons, Jessica Barnett, Monique Handey, great-great grandson Spencer Michael Daley. Ernie was also the loving brother of Florence (Art deceased) VanLith, Gord (Ruth) Bell, Bob and Joyce. Brother-in-law of Nita Smith (Eng) & Pauline Bell. Ernie was predeceased by sisters Shirley & Marg, brother Albert and Ransom (Slim) Pops will be sadly missed by his extended family; David and Carolyn Hewitt and Brandy Hewitt and his great grandsons Dylan, Chad and Cory and his many nieces and nephews; especially Marilyn May (Frankfort), Alan Holt (B.C.) and his oldest & dearest friend John Smith (Mattawa) The family would like to thank Dr. E. Trojanowski for all she has done to help both our parents, Rama from Comcare; his new found buddy, for all his help, Durham Access To Care for supplying what we needed to help keep him comfortable at home. He will be forever remembered in the hearts of those he touched. KEMP, Randy Stewart
It is with much sadness we announce the passing of Randy "Kemper" Stewart Kemp on Friday may 21, 2004 at the age of 41. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Kristi, his children D.J. (Danil Jacob) and Halle, her children Skyla and Jesse, his parents Donna and Bob, his brothers Roy, Steve and Aubrey and many other family members and friends. His sense of humor, antics and love for all will be treasured always.

THWAITES, George Herbert
The family of George Herbert Thwaites announce with sadness his death on May 20th, 2004 at Whitby. George is survived by his wife Beatrice, his children Elaine O'Neill of Hamilton, George (Line) of Ottawa, David (Wendy) of Orangeville, Stephen (Deborah) and Rod of Whitby, eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. George was born in Houlton, Maine on May 7th, 1920, but spent his formative years in Charlton, Ontario. On June 20th, 1940 he enlisted into the Grey Simcoe Foresters, later transferring to the Provost Corps as Lieutenant through to August 1946. He re-enlisted in August 1950 with Lord Strathcona Horse Regiment Armoured Corps, serving in the Korean War, awarded a Mention in Dispatches and Represented the Regiment at the Queen's Coronation. On his return to civilian duty he served with the Whitby Police Force before his employment over many years as the Director of Social Services for the Town of Whitby and Durham Region prior to his retirement. George was a proud Canadian and loved his family. He lived his life with passion and served with honour. Visitation is at W.C. Town Funeral Chapel, Sunday May 23rd, from 6-9pm. A private family service will be held on Monday. Donations to the Charity of your choice would be appreciated.
