Peacefully, at Lakeridge Health Corp. Oshawa on Monday, November 22, 2004, after a courageous battle with cancer, at the age of 51 years. Loving father of Dawn Blohm of Castleton. Loving son of Maud Blohm of Oshawa and Harry Blohm of Red Deer, Alberta. Dear brother of Carol and her husband Doug Apperson of Sunderland, Debra "Debbie" of Blackfalds, Alberta, Rick of Cobourg, Donna Nicholson of Stirling and the late Dianne Drury and Stephen Blohm. PHILLIPS, Carol
Carol Phillips passed away suddenly on November 20, 2004 at the Laurentian Hospital in Sudbury at the age of 63. She will be sadly missed by her husband John of over 40 years, daughter Lisa McCormick, (Doug Perkins), and son Lee Phillips (Brenda Christie). Carol was the "Queen of Grandma's" to grandchildren Autumn McCormick, Jessica Phillips, Daylan Perkins and Scottie Allen. Beloved daughter of Minnie and the late Victor Larocque. Survived by brothers Ron Larocque, Rick Larocque (wife Elaine), Paul Larocque (wife Eva), and sisters Shirley Cummings (husband Bruce), Joan Woods (husband Manson), and Deborah Dekkers (husband John). Pre-deceased by brothers Larry and Jimmy. Memorial contributions to the Diabetic Association, Lung, or Kidney foundations would be greatly appreciated.
RICHARDSON, Alonzo Benedict (Bud)
(Flying Officer, RCAF WWII) passed away peacefully in the Lord in Ajax, ON on Saturday November 20, 2004 in his 92nd year. Born in Atholville, NB on August 21st, 1913. Bud was predeceased by his parents George Ambrose Richardson and Margaret Eleanor (Nellie) Butler of Atholville, NB, four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by his cherished wife of 58 years, Elizabeth Anne MacDonald; his sister Margaret Ward of Moncton, NB; his three children, Betty Ann Campbell (William), of Ajax, ON, Kenneth (Margaret Trites) of Ottawa, ON, and Eleanor Johnson (Graham) of Phoenix, AZ, and his seven Grandchildren, Catherine Anderson (Derek), Sarah Trend (Clifford), Jonathan Richardson, Matthew Johnson, Colin Johnson, Elizabeth Johnson and Peter Johnson. Bud worked in the Restigouche Pulp and Paper Company pulp mill prior to joining the RCAF in 1940. He was posted to Gander NFLD for a short time and in 1941 he went overseas. Bud enlisted as an airman 2nd Class and rose in the ranks to a Flight Sergeant before being commissioned as a Pilot Officer in 1943 and later a Flying Officer. In England, Bud's organizational abilities were noticed quickly, and he was made Transport Officer, first for one RCAF station, and later he was promoted to Transport Officer for 6 Group RCAF with 13 stations reporting to him. Following the war, he returned to Canada and was discharged with the Defence Medal and CVSM and Clasp. Upon his return to civilian life, Bud rejoined Restigouche Pulp and Paper (later Fraser Companies Ltd.,) and worked in various capacities at the mill in Atholville, NB. Following retirement in 1976 and 2 heart attacks in 1977, he and his wife Elizabeth, moved to Ajax, ON to be near their children, and to begin another chapter in their lives. In Ajax, he became active in the Ajax Seniors Citizen's Club and was elected president for a number of years. He led their fundraising efforts which led to the construction of the Senior Citizen's Centre in Ajax. At the same time, he was editor of the Club's newsletter, "The Tattletales". Bud's public life was balanced by a deep personal faith which was reflected in his great patience and most happy demeanour. His trademark of happy whistling will be missed by his family and all who knew him. Funeral Mass will be held at St. Bernadette's Church (21 Bayly Street East, Ajax) on Wednesday November 24th, 2004 at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Rouge Valley Health Centre Ajax Site, would be appreciated.
ARMSTRONG, O'Leary George
Succumbed peacefully in his sleep at age 75 in the early morning of November 19th at Bay Ridges Long Term Care Facility in Pickering. Born in Jamaica, a son of the late Eric and Edith Armstrong, he immigrated to Canada in 1947. He is the father of Sharon, Anthony, George and Troy and the Grandfather of several. He is predeceased by his sister Esmine (Beta) and brother Everald (Val) and survived by his brother Eric of Toronto, Bromley of Pickering and sisters Olive (Madge) of New York and Monica Magnus of Pickering. A private cremation has been performed. A Memorial Service will be held at the chapel of the Manresa Jesuit Centre, 2325 Liverpool Rd. Pickering at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 4, 2004. Wife of the late Rothwell ''Ron'' Hayes, released from pain and discomfort, passing peacefully away on Friday, November 19th, 2004 with daughter Susan (Peter), sons Peter (Sharon) and Paul (Ellen) at her side. She was born in Rangoon, Burma, to Noreen Shelagh Sullivan and James Milton Daly, and is survived by her brother Denis (Trudie), brother-in-law Roy (Chris), and sisters-in-law Betty (Bill) and Peggy, all of the UK. Daphne's loving warmth, compassion and humour will be missed by those she touched especially grandchildren Carole, Stephen, Claire, Alison, Karen, Justin (Holly), Ryan (Robin), Rhonda (Dave), and Mark. First, as a registered nurse at Bowmanville Hospital for numerous years before & after raising her family. Secondly, in 1981, she moved on to a career as a French Immersion Teacher s Aid in 3 schools in Bowmanville. Also through out her life she gave many hours as a volunteer. A special thanks to Bowmanville Hospital Doctors & staff for their excellent care.
