McGUIRE, Lianne Laura (nee Cluney) - Passed peacefully away in Edmonton, Alberta, October 12, 2002, surrounded by loved ones, after a courageous battle with leukemia. Leaving to mourn husband Doug; three daughters, Tammy (Jon), Priscilla and Candace; two granddaughters, Bella and Kendra; her parents, Fred and Hazel Cluney of Kelligrews; nine sisters; five brothers and a number of nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will take place in Edmonton, Alberta. Special thanks to Daphne for her devoted loving care to Lianne.

Daughter of the late Robert and Ethel Simms; sister of Dr. Robert Simms and Dr. Douglas Simms, both of St. John`s, Newfoundland. Survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Rear Admiral Donald McClure, C.D. (RCN Ret`d); and five loved and loving children, Joan (Ed Ronsyn), David (Kathleen McMahon), Barbara (Gerry Stanton), Carol (Ray Woltman) and Christian (Paul Belanger). DOLSON, Shirley Louise - Passed peacefully away on September 6, 1999, Shirley Louise Dolson. Leaving to mourn with happy memories, her six girls: Heather Tibbo (Graham), Julie Nurse, Jane Hildebrand (Jim), Elizabeth O`Brien (Robert), Alison Sturge (Howard), and Aaron Peach; twelve bustling grandchildren: Laura, Ben, Sarah, Tim, Jeremy, Carleigh, Nicholas, Adam, Kate, Kristen, Corey, and Jenna. Besides her girls, she leaves to mourn her family: Doug Dolson (Margaret), Ted Dolson (Vera), Winnie Stremble (Edgar), Audrey Porter, Ken Dolson (Peggy). Also remembered by her sisters-in-law: Alice, Rose, and Flo Dolson. Predeceased by her parents: Harold and Rose Dolson; brothers: Albert, Earl, and Robert Dolson; son-in-law, Harvey Nurse; brother-in-law, Max Porter; sister-in-law, Dorothy Dolson. VAVASOUR, Charles Victor - 84, of Tideways, Wolfville passed away June 17, 2001 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in St. John`s, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late Ernest and Blanch (Dingle) Vavasour. He was a member of the Church Lads Brigade before enlisting in 1940 with the 166 Field Regiment of the Royal Artillery to serve overseas in North Africa and Italy. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #56 St. John`s, Nfld.; the Travelers Association, Nfld.; and the Avalon Masonic Lodge, St. John`s, Nfld. The Anchorman Chorus and the Singing Legionnaires, of St. John`s, Nfld.; The Barbershop Chorus and The Dukes of Kent, Kentville. He is survived by his loving wife Doris Harvey (Dawe); sons: James, Carbonear, Nfld., Gerald, Windsor, NS; grandson James Charles, Texas; special niece Susan Jane, Waverley; and many more nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. He was predeceased by sisters Ruth Johnston and Betty Oakley. Cremation has taken place. A private committal and a Royal Canadian Legion Service will be held in the St. John Anglican Cemetery, Wolfville at a later date. Memorial Donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of NS. KENT, Kathleen (nee Slade) - Passed suddenly but peacefully away at Dr. Walter Templeman Hospital, Bell Island, on April 9, 2001, age 81 years. Leaving to mourn with loving memories, husband Jack; three daughters: Kay Kent, Cambridge, Ontario, Sheree Major (Rick), Brantford, Ont., Alana Walters (Robert), Cambridge, Ont.; seven sons: John Jr. (Gloria), Ireland, Gordon (Paula), Cambridge, Ont., Bill (Linda), St. Philips, Joe (Lorraine), Tony (Diane), Barry, friend Mona, Mario (Donna), all at Cambridge, Ont.; one brother David Slade; two sisters: Anna, Angeline; 23 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; as well as many other relatives and friends. Predeceased by her husband Maxwell; brother Caleb Ackerman and sister Gertrude March.
