ORSER, Weldon Harold (Buck) - passed away at the Palliative Care Unit, St. Clare`s Mercy Hospital on Wednesday, May 29, 2002, amongst family and friends, following a courageous two year battle with colon cancer, Weldon 'Buck' Orser, age 60 years. Although he was originally from Hartland, NB, he was a Newfoundlander at heart. He served with the RCMP in NF & Lab. for 27 years and with the government for 12 years. He is predeceased by his mother Gladys; father Harold; step-mother Ruby and several aunts and uncles. Leaving to mourn his wife of 36 years Geraldine; son Chris; daughter Carrie Lynn Williams (husband Michael); two granddaughters: Karly and Madison Williams; mother-in-law Marion Stokoe; sisters-in-law: Gail Lee (Ken) and Ann Smith; aunts: Ruby Dickinson and Ruth Hare (Clifton); cousins: Robert Dickinson (Gloria) and Joyce Estabrooks (Jerry); step-sisters: Susan Grant (Tom) and Ann Morgan (Eric). Also leaving to mourn a large circle of friends and work colleagues across Canada. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Buck is resting at Carnell`s Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road on Thursday, May 30 and Friday, May 31 from 1- 4 and 7- 10 p.m. Funeral service will be held at the United Church, Portugal Cove on Saturday, June 1, 2002 at 2 p.m. with Interment to follow at United Church Cemetery, Bauline Line. MacPHERSON, Jane Marie (Mary) - Passed peacefully away in the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, N.S., September 27, 2002, Jane Marie (Mary) MacPherson, of Big Pond, Cape Breton, with her seven children by her side. Born in Glace Bay, N.S., she was the daughter of the late Angus Dan and Catherine (MacPhee) Morrison. Left with fond memories are daughters: Jeanie (Gordon Chaisson), Long Pond, Nfld., Judy (Conrad Lutes), Goose Bay, Labrador, Margie, Toronto, Ont., Bernadette (George Salmaniw), St. John`s, Nfld.; sons: Duncan (Pat), Goderich, Ont., Tom (Bev), Big Pond, Terry (Debbie), Sydney; sister Vera (Martin) MacIsaac, Pickering, Ont.; special cousin, Cathy; nine grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband John Colin and brother Tom. Funeral Mass was held on Tuesday, October 1st at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mary`s Parish Church, Big Pond. Rev. Joe Gillis officiated, assisted by Rev. Albert Maroun. Interment followed in the parish Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel. Mary will be dearly missed by her loving children, family and many friends.

LUDLOW, Louise - Louise Ludlow, formerly of Rodger`s Cove, Gander Bay, passed away in Edmonton, Alberta on June 10, 2003 at the age of 91 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Sadie of Fort McMurray and Eileen (Ed) of Edmonton; 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; brothers: Lester and Lewis (Margaret) and sister Violet; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Chesley and son John in 1964; son Ben and daughter Kathleen in 1997; and grandchildren: Mary Ludlow, Debbie Hillier and Freddy Bird. SIMMONDS, Phyllis Mildred (nee Cuff) - On June 20, 2003 we lost a dear friend, a very kind, considerate and compassionate woman. Our mother passed peacefully away at her home in her 81st year. Predeceased by her husband Hugh Reginald (Reg) Simmonds (St. John`s). Her Parents (Ben and Hattie Cuff) of Bonavista. Brothers Don and Calvin Cuff of Bonavista. Survived by one sister Gertie Keel (Herber John), Sisters-in-law Vi Barnes (Wallace), Betty Oake (Ray), Phyllis Dilworth (Frank). Leaving to mourn 5 daughters: Peggy Best (Allan), Bev Urquhart (Donald), Jean Penney (Wilson), Brenda Howell (Tony) & Janice Simmonds; one son William B. Simmonds (Johanne); 8 grandchildren (Stephen & Nicole) (Craig & Cathy), (Dale & Dawn) (Christopher & Craig); four great-grandchildren (Matthew & Haley Thistle), (Brett Urquhart), (Kayla Morey). She will be greatly missed and forever remembered. A private family service will be held on Monday, June 23, 2003 at Cowan Heights United Church and will be officiated by the Rev. Bruce Kearley.
