Peacefully passed away on Monday, February 27, 2006 at Fairvern Nursing Home in Huntsville, Ontario, at the age of 88, where she had been living close to her family, for the last two years. Prior to that, Ruth and her beloved husband Walter, who predeceased her in the year 2000, resided in Oshawa for over 60 years. Ruth is the cherished mother of Winston and his wife Marilyn of Huntsville. Loving grandma of Jamie, David, Jeffrey, Todd and Tammy. Great-grandmother of Theresa, Lea and Ryan. Ruth's passions in life were music, politics, public service, friends and family. We will all miss her infectious smile, positive spirit and determination. (Veteran of W.W.II, serving from 1943-1946 in England and Europe with Royal Canadian Engineers; life member and honourary elder and member of Board of Trustees of Centre Street United Church and Centennial Albert United Church; great-grandson of The Rev. Thomas Henry).
Peacefully, after a short hospital stay, at Lakeridge Health Corp. Bowmanville, on Monday, February 27, 2006, in his 90th year. Beloved husband and best friend of Elizabeth (nee Sweet) for over 59 years. Loving father of Robert Edward and his wife Karen of Victoria, B.C., Alec Warren of Oshawa, and David William and his wife Judy of Calgary. Loving grampa of Kenneth William Dearborn of Oshawa and his mother Karen. Also fondly remembered by his brothers-in-law Jack Bonnetta, Ernest Sweet and his sister-in-law Pauline Redden and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Warren Edward Hathaway Dearborn and Leah Muriel (nee Patterson), his brothers and sisters, Clarence Dearborn and his wife Evelyn, Irma Bell, and her husband Charlie, Betty Bonnetta and Anna Dearborn. Following W.W.II he returned to a career in farming until the early 1950's. He then started a second career with Curran & Briggs, later to become McCord's Ready Mix, until retirement in 1982. Bill and Elizabeth have enjoyed a happy time living in Courtice since retirement. At Bill's request cremation has taken place. Relatives and friends are invited to join his family in a Celebration of Bill's Life, beginning Thursday, March 9, 2006 from 7-9 p.m. at McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558). Helen had a heart of gold and will be deeply missed by her family who will always remember her for her kindness, generosity and dedication to them. Fun loving and full of spirit, Helen will be sadly missed by the many friends she made during her lifetime and by their children, who knew her as Aunt Helen . Helen was a well-known and active participant in the local Bowmanville community where she spent most of her life and was a devoted member of Trinity United Church. August 4, 1923 February 24, 2006. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom peacefully at home after a brief battle with cancer. Predeceased by our Dad, Hans. Mom leaves behind her son Karl, daughter Rosel Gosse (Frazer). Devoted Grandma to Laurie McLean (Ian), Tammara Hutchinson (Darren), Adam Gosse and Christopher Ley. Oma to her adored great-granddaughters Sarah McLean and Darby Hutchinson. Special sister-in-law to Erna Herhold and Grandma Ley to Stefanie and Cori Davidge (Al & Robin). Born in Germany, the youngest of 10 children Mom is survived by her sister, Erna Kniza and many nieces, nephews and cousins. We are eternally grateful for having been a part of her life, for the love she gave to each of us and for all she taught us. Mom was a very special lady and will be deeply missed by all her family and friends.
