MacDonald, Betty Wilma: passed away on Saturday December 28th, 2002 at the age of 80 years. Betty will be lovingly remembered by her two sons; Frank (Pat) and Rick (Trudy) both of Sherwood Park; Four grandchildren: Susan, David, Sandra (Stu) and Allan (Carmen); three great grandchildren Emily, Maren and Nathan. Betty was predeceased by her husband Robert and sister Vera. Betty and Robert retired to the Okanagan Valley (Peachland and Kelowna) approximately 20 years ago, recently returning to Edmonton to be with her family. PROCYK, ANNA died suddenly on Friday, December 27, 2002 at the age of 78 years. Anna and her husband came to Canada in 1948 and settled in Calgary, Alberta. She is survived by her two grandchildren: Nick of Calgary, and Jessica (James) Cartwright of Nanaimo and her two great grandchildren: Gene and Kassidy of Nanaimo. Sadly predeceased by her husband Paul, children: Paul Jr., Steve and Mary. Anna was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend and will be missed by all who knew her. RADFORD, JEAN ELIZABETH of Kelowna, formerly of Vancouver, passed away on Thursday December 26, 2002 at the age of 82. Michael was very active with the Westside Health Network, the Canadian National Institute of the Blind, the Rotary Club and was a veteran of WWII. JOHNSON, CHESTER FRANK: born Dec. 12, 1920 at Bowden, Alberta, passed away Dec. 20, 2002 at Broadmead Lodge Veteran Care Facility, Victoria, B.C. Predeceased by his wife Ruth Marguerite of 55 years in 1999. Beloved father of Michael Johnson of Toronto, Marguerite Ancell (Don) of Campbell River, Shirley Ulm (Tom) of Kelowna and Susan Dickson (Graham) of Victoria. Cherished grandfather of James, Michael, David, Cindy, Dwayne, Lou, Nicole, Paul and Stewart. Great Grandfather to Tiffany and Jacob. Chester was an Alberta farm boy who joined the army during World War II, serving first with the Calgary Tanks, then with the Royal Winnipeg Rifles. He was seriously wounded at the Battle of Emmerich, Germany in March 1945. After his return to Canada and rehab, he resumed a vigorous family and working life, first in Calgary, then High River and, since 1953 in the Kelowna area. A memorial service will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion, 1380 Bertram Street, Kelowna, January 10, 2003 at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Dick Fletcher officiating. BUTTERWORTH, MARGARET passed away on January 4, 2003 at the Westside Care Centre following a lengthy illness. Margaret was born in Winnipeg on November 12, 1919. She will be sadly missed by her two sons, Bill (June) of Kelowna and Ray (Janis) of Winnipeg; grandsons Jon & Landon; granddaughters: Kelly-Ann, Kimberly (Bill), Kristy, Jaclyn and Emily; great grandson Matthew, great-granddaughters Shelagh, Winter and Briar and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband, George in 1995 and daughter-in-law Shelagh in 1992. Margaret excelled in her chosen vocation as homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and mother-in-law. There was never a selfish moment as she dedicated her life to serving her family. A funeral mass is planned for Thursday, January 9, 2003 at 3:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, Kelowna with Father Peter Tompkins as celebrant. CRESSWELL, RUTH born on May 20, 1919 and died peacefully at Cottonwoods Extended Care Unit on January 4, 2003 at the age of 83. She was predeceased by her husband, Alex Cresswell; brother, Wilfred Stratton and sister, Edith Ashbury. She is survived by sons, Brian (Rose) and Bruce (Nancy); daughters, Donna and Sharon (Rob) Keswick; grandchildren, Kyle, Nathan, Marcus, Jamie, Eric, Anna, Kristi and Ashley. Ruth had been involved in the development of the Okanagan Neurological Association. She will be missed by her many friends and family. NEID, HELENE passed away in Vancouver General Hospital on December 31, 2002. Helene was born on March 11, 1924 in Beausejour, Manitoba. She was a resident of East Kelowna and Kelowna from 1938 until 1956, at which time she moved to Vancouver. After retirement she spent many volunteer hours counselling and consoling cancer patients. Predeceased by five brothers and four sisters. Helene is survived by one brother Larry (Dede), many cousins, nieces and nephews.
