(Retired Flight Crew Scheduler with United Airlines) passed away June 19th, 2007 at the Elmhurst Extended Care in Elmhurst, Illinois, U.S.A. Born in Oshawa, March 8th, 1931. Predeceased by her Mother and Father, Elizabeth (Bessie) and Cecil Locke. Survived by three brothers; Roland (Sharon) of Mount Hope, Ontario, Grant (Mickey) of Lindsay, Ontario and Ivan (Irene) Locke of Oshawa and by several Nieces and Nephews. Fondly remembered by special friends Karen and Mark Exener of Elmhurst, Illinois, Bobbe Ray of Scottsdale, Arizona, Tonya Dewaelde of Naperville, Illinois, Beth Cummins and Betty Schaefer of Ajax, and the Ladies of the Elmhurst Garden Club, Elmhurst Illinois. Special thank you to the nurses and staff of the Elmhurst Extended Care in Elmhurst, Illinois. Also, a special thank you to the Reverend Judy Paulsen of Christ Memorial Church, Oshawa. BURDGE, Doris Marjorie (Fleming)
Peacefully, just 11 days short of her 100th birthday, at Taunton Mills Residence, Whitby. Predeceased by husbands Emory C. Burdge and R. Russell Fleming. Beloved mother of Ann Stuart of Chilliwack B.C., Everett Fleming of Toronto, Betty Beeman of Whitby, Donald Fleming (Joyce) of Whitby, Nancy Nicholls (Jim) of Burlington and Gordon Fleming of Toronto. Cherished grandmother of fourteen and great grandmother of eleven. Doris will be remembered for her unfailing outgoing spirit, her faith and devotion to church, and the love of family, who celebrated her birthday every July 1st around the pool at Donald's home. A private Interment service was held on June 21st. A memorial service to celebrate Doris' life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on July 3, 2007 at All Saints Anglican Church, (Dundas St. W. at Center St. Whitby). In lieu of flowers donations to All Saints Anglican Church, Whitby would be most appreciated. Dearly beloved husband of 51 years to Jean Hanna and brother of Barbara (James) McConachie. Loving father of Julie (Phil) Roberts and John (Jane) Hanna. Don worked at General Motors for 44 years and loved opera and the Maple Leafs. At Uxbridge Cottage Hospital on Monday, June 18, 2007, Alva passed away peacefully after a long battle with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Clifford. Loving mother of Sheri and her husband Peter Christie, and Shauna and her husband Jason Forsyth all of Port Perry. Loved grandmother of Yvonne, Carson, Karmen, and Bradley. Dear sister of Sandra (deceased) and her husband Peter Adamson of Owen Sound, Stanley Byrne and his wife Helen of Bracebridge and twin sister of Margaret Edgerton of Peterborough. Survived by her brothers David, and Alun. After a brief illness, Christine Thomas passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of family and friends on Monday June 18th, 2007 at Rouge Valley in Ajax. She will be forever remembered by her beloved sons Matthew, Jason and Husband Neville. A celebration of her life will be held on Sunday June 24th at W.C. HENKELMAN, Orma Mae (nee Skinner)
went home to be with the Lord, in her 85th year, while surrounded by her family, on Sunday, June 17, 2007. Married for 62 years, she loved and was deeply loved by her husband, Frank, and their children Audrey Bauman and her husband Wayne; Alan Henkelman and his wife Karen; Joan Butler and her husband Bill; Janet Dinnick and her husband John. Orma was a wonderful grandmother and great-grandmother to Andrea Taylor-Borg (Eric) and daughter Rebekah Taylor; Janet Whitson (Tim) and sons, Nathanael and Caleb; Jessica Bauman; Bryan Henkelman (Erika); Craig Henkelman; Jennifer Stanley (Andrew); Jacky Butler; Brent Butler; Kevin, Christopher, Lauren and Nathan Dinnick. She is fondly remembered by her sister, Ruth Weales and husband Don; and sister-in-law, Jean Henkelman (Vic) as well as many nieces and nephews. Throughout her married life she lived in Sarnia and North York, before returning to her hometown, Oshawa, during her retirement years. Orma s Christian faith was her foundation in life. As a result she served in many capacities in the churches she attended, including being an organist for over 20 years. She was a volunteer with The Downtown Yonge Street Mission and the CNIB in Toronto, a member of a rug-hooking guild, and an avid gardener. She travelled extensively around the world. Orma will be remembered for her warm hospitality as she welcomed family and friends to her home and to her cottage in the Muskokas.
