passed away peacefully in her sleep at her residence on Tuesday, July 17th, 2007 at the age of 59. Carol, beloved wife of Bonar. Loving mother of Laura (Jim) Andruskiw, Brandi (Jose) Santos, and Bonar Bell Jr. (Becki). Adored Grandmother of Shelby, Emma, Jake and Maximus. Loving sister of Bud Mallette (Helen) and Donna Thibodeau (Zeb). Predeceased by her brothers Brian Mallette and Bobby Devich. Carol will be dearly missed by many friends and family. FREGEAU, Paul
(Retired District Chief, Toronto Fire Department and member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch No. 111) Paul passed away peacefully on the morning of Tuesday, July 17th, 2007. Loving and devoted husband of the late Joanne. Paul was the adoring uncle of many nieces and nephews. Paul will be missed by his many friends. Mass will be held on Saturday, July 21st, 2007 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernadette's Church (21 Bayly Street East, Ajax). METTE, Elizabeth Mary
On the evening of Tuesday, July 17th, 2007 Elizabeth passed peacefully at Lakeridge Health Bowmanville surrounded by her family following a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. Elizabeth is predeceased by her husband Valentine Micheal Mette. Loved by her children Dave (Dawn), Jane (Daniel), Phil (Kathy) and Rick (Sue). Loving Nana to Lisa, Julie, Alicia, Justin, Ben and Mike. Great Nana to Taylor, Wyatt and Evie. Beth will be missed and forever loved by her family and friends. LANDER, David Hoig
1917 - 2007. In his 90th year, David Lander entered into sleep on Monday, July 16, 2007 and never awakened. He had just enjoyed a week in one of his favourite settings, the family cottage on the shores of Lake of Bays. The weekend just past saw him in good health, surrounded by his immediate and extended family, all of whom paid tribute to family members who had passed on previously. David was a lifelong citizen of standing in Oshawa. He served proudly for his nation in WWII. In the years immediately following the war, he transformed the Lander Coal Company into Lander - Stark, a heating oil business. He left the oil business upon his retirement, in 1983. David was a Rotarian of distinction. He served many years on the Oshawa Hospital Board of Directors. He remained very community minded to the end. He was a shy man, who spoke little, but chose words carefully and wisely. What he said was heard, and received due attention. He was unswervingly fair and generous. David was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (MacKay); and son John; He is survived by and will live forever as a fond memory in the lives of: daughter Pat Butler (and Leigh); grandchildren Iain Butler(Danielle); Jillian and Martha Butler. A private family service will be held at a later date. If desired, memorial donations may be made to: The John Lander Scholarship Fund c/o The Robert McLaughlin Gallery 72 Queen Street Oshawa, ON, L1H 3Z3.

OWENS, Lorna Angela (nee Fairclough)
Peacefully on Monday July 16, 2007 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa at the age of 60. Lorna, beloved wife for 39 years of Ronald Paul Owens. Loved mother of Roger Paul Owens and his wife Kristen of Milton. Devoted grandmother of Aiyana, and Isaiah. Dear sister of Barbara, Sonia and her husband Gladston, Kingsley (Junior), Gladstone and his wife Elaine, Marcia, Anthony, and Donna and her husband Junior. GARDINER, Cyril Stewart
Cyril, age 74, passed away Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Fairview Lodge, Whitby, after a lengthy illness with Multiple Sclerosis. Son of the late Roy and Rita Gardiner of Smiths Falls. Survived by his wife Hazel, sister-in-law Marion Banford and her husband Ed of Smiths Falls, sister-in-law Sue Safford and her husband Leon of Calgary, niece Carole Cote and her husband Mike of Oshawa, niece Judy Roche and her husband Ken of Calgary and their son Bradley, niece Barbara Safford and her husband Don of Calgary and their son Ryan, great-niece Darla Stuart and her husband Doug of Courtice and their children Taylor, Chantale and Katrina, great-nephew Justin Cullen of Smiths Falls. A heartfelt thanks goes to all the caregivers at Fairview Lodge for the loving, excellent care. Private funeral arrangements for the family were entrusted to McINTOSH-ANDERSON FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 152 King St. E., Oshawa (905-433-5558).

HUGHES, John
passed away peacefully at the Campbellford Memorial Hospital on July 15, 2007 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Doris (of Campbellford) and father of Joy. Cherished Step father to Nicholson family. Loving grandfather to many. Born in South Wales U.K. to the late Isaac and Fanny Hughes. Survived by his sister Sally Kent. Predeceased by his sister Cassie, Bronwen, Megan and his brothers Cynan (Wales) and Joffre. John was raised and schooled in Oshawa, and worked in GM until he moved to Toronto and retired as a supervisor for the Ontario Housing Corp. He moved to Dartford, Ont. and enjoyed his retirement until he moved to Campbellford to be near his family. He leaves to mourn his passing many nephews and nieces, and their families. Family will receive friends at the MOUNT LAWN RECEPTION CENTRE, 21 Garrard Rd. Whitby (just north of Dundas St.) 905-665-0600 from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday July 19, 2007 with a Memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m. Cremation.

KESLERING, Dale
Age 49. passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on July 15, 2007, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by his parents John and Anita Keslering of Penticton, British Columbia and his sister Phyllis Leblanc of Cranbrook, British Columbia. Survived by his brother John of Burnaby, British Columbia. Dale will be missed and lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Dale was a passionate banjo player, talented sportsman, a loyal G.M. employee of 18 years, and most of all a dedicated husband and best friend to Barb. A generous father to Michael, Jenilee, Richard (wife Dina) and grandson Brady and a loyal friend to many. Special thanks to C.C.A.C. "The Blue Team", staff of the Oncology and Palliative Care Units of Toronto East General Hospital. Heartful thanks to Dr. Jacinta Meharchand "Oncologist Extraordinaire", Dr. Workentin, Anita Cadeau, Josie Barbieri-Tacoma. A memorial service and celebration of Dale's life will be held on Saturday, July 21, 2007 from 1-4 p.m. at Carruthers Creek Golf and Country Club, 650 Lakeridge Road, Ajax. ODYNSKI, Joan Margaret
passed away on Sunday, July 15, 2007 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa. Joan Margaret Odynski in her 78th year, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cherished wife of William for fifty years. Devoted mother of Janice (David Rutkey) and David (Lynn). Proud and loving grandmother of Brian and Kevin Rutkay. Joan will be fondly remembered by extended family and friends, including the U.C.W. of Northminster United Church. Special thanks to Dr. Robert Verdonk and to the nurses and doctors at Lakeridge Health Whitby and Oshawa for their gentle hands and dedicated care. (former resident of Halifax, Nova Scotia) peacefully with her family at her side at Strathaven Lifecare Centre, Bowmanville, on Sunday, July 15, 2007, in her 92nd year. Wife of the late Ralph Taylor and Ambrose Miller. Dear mother of Irvin R. Miller and his wife Sharon of Newcastle and the late Arnold. Mother-in-law of Barbara Miller of Oshawa. Sadly missed by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by five sisters and two brothers, all of the Maritimes. TUFFREY, Lois Margaret (nee Gouin)
After a courageous battle with cancer, Lois passed away on July 15, 2007 with her family at her side. Predeceased by her husband Leonard William Tuffrey (January 30, 2007). Loving mother of Karen (Rick), Kevin (Elizabeth), Kimberley (Laurie) and Keith (Ruby). Cherished grandmother of 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. FULTON, Hugh Graham
Born in 1940 and raised in Upper Stewiacke, Nova Scotia. Suddenly on Saturday afternoon, July 14th, 2007 in Picton, Ontario, his true heaven on earth. Predeceased by his parents, Florence in 1973 and Graham in 1986. Beloved husband of Miriam for 44 years. Dear father to Craig and his wife Tana, Carron and her husband Brad Spagnolo, Derek and his wife Michelle; grandchildren Brittany, Melissa, Tyler and Alannah; brother Victor and his wife Judy and sister Janice and her husband Ronald. He attended Brookfield Rural High School. In 1958 he joined Imperial Oil and began his career in Halifax. In 1966 he was transferred to Toronto where he stayed until his retirement in 1993. Hugh was a loyal Nova Scotian or true Blue Noser . Travel was one of Hugh s passions so after retirement he decided to go back to school and take travel and tourism and later worked as a tour guide for Toronto and the Niagara Region. Hugh and Miriam recently purchased a winter home in Parksville, British Columbia. It was their dream to spend summers in Picton and winters in Parksville. Only 4 months ago they moved their permanent home from Port Hope to Picton, Ontario, and it was there that he left us. Friends may call at OSHAWA FUNERAL HOME, 847 King St. West (905-721-1234) for visitation on Thursday, July 19th from 10:00 A.M. until time of Memorial Service in the Chapel at 11:00 A.M. (Former Teacher at West Hill C.I., Vice Principal at Woburn C.I., and Teacher at Port Perry High School) Peacefully in his sleep, on Saturday, June 14, 2007 at the Lakeridge Health Centre in Port Perry, at age 70. Ted Jensen of Port Perry, dearly loved husband of Judy (nee Anderton). Loving son of Ellen and the late William Jensen of Scarborough. Loved brother of Lis and the late Roy Lawson of Lake Mississauga. Dear uncle of Lee and her husband Steve Franklin and their family and Lori and her husband Paul Cassidy and their family, all of Ajax. Ted will also be missed by his sister-in-law Joan Brebner and her family of Parkhill. Mike will be lovingly remembered by his step-sister Laura and nephew Chase, nieces Michelle, Brianna and Jade, his band members Craig and Jim as well as his many aunts, uncles and cousins.
