REVEREND N.J. Gignac (PP)
Passed peacefully, wrapped in God's love, at the Houses of Providence in Toronto on Friday August 31, 2007, at the age of 87. Fr. Norbert was the son of the late Louis Gignac and Ephygenie Doucette of Penetanguishene, and was one of 16 siblings. He is survived by his beloved sister, Sister Mary Zelie (Helen) CSJ. Father is predeceased by 14 of his brothers and sisters. He will be deeply missed by his sisters-in-law Marie Gignac and Lillian Gignac and his many nieces and nephews. Father Gignac was an active priest in the Archdiocese of Toronto for 62 years. Upon his Ordination on May 26th, 1945, Father began his life long love of people and parishes. He served as Pastor at St. Patrick's, Markham and St. Mary's Victoria Harbour. As founding Pastor of Saint Mary of the People in Oshawa (1957) and Saint Joseph the Worker in Oshawa (1985) Father is lovingly remembered by so many lives that he touched in his work for the Lord. The family would like to thank the staff at the Houses of Providence Heath Care, the Archdiocese of Toronto and Anita for the compassionate care they gave him. Resting at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 1100 Mary Street North, Oshawa, Ontario on Monday September 3 from 2:00 to 8:00 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Joseph the Worker Parish on Tuesday morning at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery. HUGHSON, William (Bill) Errol
On Friday, August 31, 2007 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, at the age of 86 years. Bill was the only child of the late Errol Brisbane and Gertrude (Wise) Hughson of Toronto. He is survived by his son Errol (Anne) of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia and his daughter Maura of Bayshore Village, Brechin, Ontario. He leaves his grandsons, David, Peter and Matthew, all of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, and his dear friend Stephanie of Ajax, Ontario. An all-round athlete, Bill's favourite sport was golf. As a golfer in Toronto, he won championships at Woodbine, St. Andrews and Glen Mar. In Daytona Beach, Florida he played the Spruce Creek Country Club, and was also a non-resident member of Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach - the home of The Players Championship and the famous 17th hole ''island green''. In the late 1980's while playing in a Pro-Am event that included P.G.A. members, Bill won the amateur portion of the event. Some of Bill's fondest memories are working in the Pro Shop with his buddy ''Al''. He served six years as a member of the R.C.N.V.R., entering as an ordinary seaman and rising to the rank of Lieutenant. He was Commanding Officer of H.M.C.S. Saguenay, and at the time of his discharge in 1946, he was Commanding Officer of H.M.C.S. Portage. He served in both the North Atlantic and the Aleutian Islands. We would like to thank Dr. David Ibsen, the staff at the Colonial Retirement Home, and the Palliative Care team at Lakeridge Health Oshawa for their care and compassion. Flowers are gratefully declined. The family would appreciate donations made in Bill's name to the Canadian Cancer Society.
McKINNON, Gladys Pearl (nee Melbourne)
passed away peacefully on Friday, August 31st, 2007 at Lakeridge Health-Oshawa in her 88th year. She was loved and adored by her family and was the best Mom to Jacquie Hare (David) and Gladys Kerr (Alan); the best Grammy to Jody (John), Jeff (Michelle) and Dan (Jennifer); and the best Great Grammy to David, Matthew, Liam, Avery and Nolan. Predeceased by her husband John (Jack) McKinnon. Pearl was a special lady who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to staff at Carriage House, Whitby Dialysis Unit and 3F. Cremation has taken place and a private family service will follow at a later date.

Jean will be missed by her many family and friends in Northern Ireland. Jean was an accomplished pianist. She was very proud to be involved in the founding / start of St. Timothy's Presbyterian Church in Ajax, where she served in many different capacities over the years. She was a current member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church in Whitby.
