At the end of the War she volunteered to help war-torn families in Arnhem, before going to Amsterdam for her nurse's training. She worked as a Registered Nurse caring for children and war veterans in Amsterdam and then in London, England. In 1957 she came to Canada, working at the hospitals in Scarborough, Ajax-Pickering, and Oshawa and finally at Whitby Psychiatric Hospital.
