JENKINS, RONALD LESLIE: On February 5, 2003 at the Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 76. Surviving are his son, Christopher Charles Jenkins; one daughter and two stepsons. Ronald was a decorated Air Force Veteran and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. He was a beloved member of his community and will be sadly missed by all those who knew him. BELSEY, BERNICE (ABBY): passed away February 8, 2003 at the age of 89 years. Predeceased by her husband Jim on April 8, 1993. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Marilyn (Murray); son Bill (Lonie); two grandsons James and Steven; sister Dorothy and her nieces, nephews and friends. She was a special person to all whose lives she touched. The family would like to thank Dr. Corbett and the staff at Brookhaven Care Centre for their kindness, loving care and compassion given while she was there. They truly are special people. Flintoft, George H. passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2003 at the age of 89. Survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Bertha; son Douglas (Jean) Flintoft of Quesnel; two grandchildren: Jonathan of Port Alberni, BC and Gayle Flintoft of Toronto, ON; brother Lloyd (Mildred) Flintoft of Kelowna and sister Isobel (Prescott) Lindahl of Kelowna. Sadly predeceased by his sister Evelyn, brother James and sister Margaret. George came to Kelowna in 1924. He was a salesman for Loanes Hardward, Marshall Wells and Bennett's Hardware. WHYTE, MARY On February 10th, 2003 Mary Whyte passed away in the Brookhaven Care Centre. Mary was a member of the Ogopogo Crafter's Guild for many years and was a lifetime member of the Eastern Star in Manitoba. She was presented with a 50 year Service Award. Predeceased by her husband Lewis in 1965 and her two brothers: Bernard and Henry. She is survived by her son Everett and his wife Shirley, nephews: Grant, David and Roy and their families. WOLFF, SHIRLEY of Kelowna, passed away in the Kelowna General Hospital on Saturday, February 8th, 2003 at the age of 64 years. FIEDLER, EMMANUEL (MANNY): went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at the age of 87. Hammer, Shirley Katheryn: went to where the sun keeps shining and the weather suits her clothes, on Feb 7/ 03. Billie's wit, wisdom, and charm will be sadly missed by many family and friends that she adopted into her life over the many years. Bloxham, Elsie Ruby
1918 - 2003
Elsie Ruby Bloxham of Calgary passed away suddenly at the Rockyview General Hospital on Tuesday, February 11, 2003 at the age of 84 years. Elsie was born and raised in Champion, AB and marriage Ken in 1941. She taught school in Champion until 1967 when the family moved to Sylvan Lake, AB. In 1978, Elsie and Ken retired to Kelowna, BC where they remained until 1993. That year they returned to Alberta, settling in Wetaskiwin where Ken passed away in 1994. In 2002, Elsie moved to Calgary. She is survived by five children: Morley (Marilyn), Sandra Bloxham (Harvey Loyst), Penny Mink (Joseph), Fenton (Susan), and Tracy Lutz (Mel); twelve grandchildren: Nancy, Gary (Lesley) and Heather Bloxham; Michael and Rachel Cantelon; Matthew, Chelsea and Adam Mink; Erin, Chris and Jamie Bloxham; and Mallory Lutz; and a great grand daughter Katharina Bloxham. Elsie is also survived by three sisters: Alice Knight, Shirley Overland (Oswald), and Joyce Fath (Robert). She was predeceased by her husband Kenneth Bloxham. BRANDER: On February 11th, 2003 Allan Brander passed away in the Kelowna General Hospital after a brave battle with leukemia. Survived by his loving family, wife Millie, sons: Allan of Vancouver and James of Kelowna, brother and sister in law Ken and Sophie Wilcox of Lone Butte, B.C. sister Barbara (Marcel) of Kamloops, many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews. Our family would like to thank Dr. Bernard Lewke who cared for Allan with skill, patience, and compassion during his long illness. Our thanks also to the community health nurses. To Maggie and all the wonderful nurses at Ambulatory care, Allan loved you all, the palliative response team, the volunteer drivers from the Cancer Clinic and the lab techs at KGH. A very special thank you to the LPN Brent on 4B KGH for your compassion and skill. Your kindness meant a lot to us. We thank with all our hearts our beautiful neighbors, friends, and coworkers at Joseph Benjamin Residence, Still Waters Private Hospital and Sunpointe Village. We have no words to thank all the friends and relatives that offered and were tested as bone marrow donors, we ask God to Bless you everyday. DODGE, HAROLD GEORGE - It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Harold. He was predeceased by his wife Edna. Harold leaves to mourn his step-daughter Helen (Reg) McGiffin; step-son Hugh (Blanche) Andrews and many nieces, nephews and grandchildren. He was also predeceased by his son Robert, stepsons Victor and Vern and step-daughter Evelyn Hatch. Harold was 14 years old when he came to Canada from England. He was taken in by a family in Miami, Manitoba, and later he worked at various jobs in Winnipeg. Following a three and a half year stint in the Canadian Army during World War II, Harold and Edna managed to save enough money to buy a homestead in Anola, Manitoba. The Dodges moved to California in 1967 and then moved to Winfield in 1977 where they retired. Funeral Services will be held from the Winfield Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 11370 Bottom Wood Lake Road on Friday, February 14th, 2003 at 1:30 PM.
