FORBES CLARENCE (JIM) LAIRD: Born in Renown, Saskatchewan March 18, 1927 and passed away March 13, 2003 in Summerland, British Columbia. Survived by his loving wife Patricia; son Duane, sisters Janice (Bonsant) and Margaret (Burnat), grandchildren Jaus, Isabella, and Sam. Predeceased by his brother Beecher. Jim joined the army as a boy soldier in 1944 and served his country for 28 years, serving in Canada, Germany, Korea and the United States, earning the rank of sergeant. He retired to Peachland, BC in 1975. The family would like to thank the angels of mercy that cared for him in Parkdale and Summerland Extended Care Unit, and especially the attending physician Dr. M. Venkataraman. MARTIN, CARY (NEE UNSER) Cary Martin (nee Unser) born December 10, 1974 passed away suddenly at home on March 17, 2003. She is survived by her loving husband and best friend Luc Martin (New Brunswick), her father and mother, Ron and Donna Unser and brother Chad Unser, all of Kelowna. RAEBURN, JIM: born June 2, 1942 in Welling Bourough, England, passed away suddenly on March 15, 2003 at Kelowna General Hospital at the age of 60. He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Marie; daughter Debbie (Darren) Brient and their three children, Taylor Ann, MacKenzie and Tristin; son Glen (Debbie) Raeburn; his mother; two brothers; and two sisters. CURRAN, KATHERINE KATHY (TUGGY) passed away on March 21 at the age of 49, on the palliative care unit at the Grey Nuns Hospital, Edmonton. She leaves to mourn her loving husband, Marten Boonstra, her mother, Dorothy Curran (Kelowna), her sister Beverly Curran (Ottawa), her in-laws in the Netherlands, and too many friends to count. She was predeceased by her father, Harry Curran, in 1995. Tuggy was the first person to be named to the Wall of Fame at the Edmonton District Labour Council. She will be remembered as the initiator of the Labour Day BBQ for the unemployed in Giovanni Caboto Park, for her work with the Bissell Centre, Boyle McCauley community, and children's camping programs, and as an organizer within the New Democratic Party, the labour movement, and municipal politics in Canada and the Netherlands. BAZAN, (NEE MERCER), MONICA (MICKEY) Theresa: passed away at the Ashcroft General Hospital, Saturday, March 22, 2003 at the age of 86. She is survived by her three children: Gary (Annette) Bazan, Sylvia (Fred) Gerwein,Joe (Jenni) Bazan, and her sister Mary (John) Charbonneau; and six grandchildren: Craig, Keith, Tyrel and Caitlin Bazan and Joe, Wes Gerwein. Predeceased by her loving husband Andrew (Andy) Bazan, and five siblings: Josephine Mercer, Ursula Charbonneau, Sylvia Komm, Robert Mercer and John 'Toz' Mercer. SIDONI: Mrs. Pearl Gladys Sidoni passed away suddenly at her residence on Saturday, March 29th, 2003 at the age of 76 years. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter and son-in-law; Carol & John Zucco of Vernon, B.C., her son and daughter-in-law; Don & Diane Sidoni of Armstrong, B.C., her nine grandchildren; Tammy (Steve), Jason (Twilla), Michelle (Colin), Wanda (Rob), Michael (Shelby), Angela, Heather, Tyler and Karley, her six great grandchildren, her two sisters; Ferne (Lou) Costa and Faye Morris of Vernon, B.C. and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, G. (Sid) Sidoni on May 11th, 1999 and one son, Ken in 1986. Pearl loved her family very much and was always knitting and baking cookies for them. She also loved to go fishing and always seemed to catch the biggest fish as well as the largest number of them. Cremation preceded the celebration of Like Service which will be held at Bethel Funeral Chapel on Saturday, April 5th, 2003 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Allan Dawe officiating. A Reception will follow in the Tea Room at Bethel Funeral Chapel. Interment of Pearl's cremated remains will take place in the family plot at Pleasant Valley Cemetery at the conclusion of the Reception. USSELMAN, FRANK born November 22, 1921 in Selz Ukraine passed away peacefully on March 30, 2003 at Kelowna General Hospital with his wife and grandchildren by his side. He was predeceased by his son Edward Usselman in 1974. He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Magdalene Usselman and will be missed and remembered by his son Frank Joseph Usselman. He also leaves behind two grandchildren; Frank Aaron Usselman (Kori) and Tanya Ann Usselman (Kale) and a great grandson Jason Aaron Usselman who will all miss him dearly and forever cherish his memory. He also leaves behind a brother and a sister in Germany. The family would like to thank the staff of the Renal Dialysis at K.G.H. and the Rutland Dialysis Center, as well as all our family and friends for their support. Frank has requested cremation and in lieu of flowers a donation to be made to the Kidney Foundation.
