"Hub" Proud Naval Veteran 50 year employee of Kingston Monuments Unexpectedly after a brief illness at the Kingston General Hospital on Thursday, November 23, 2006, four days prior to his 77th birthday. Hub Abrams, beloved husband and best friend of Madeline (nee Le Heup) for 52 years. Dear father of Tim Abrams of Kingston and Laurie Linau of Ft. Saskatchewan, AB. Much loved grandfather of Jessica and David Linau. Dear brother of Joan Easter. Predeceased by his parents Van and Lena (Cox) Abrams, sisters Reta Fairbanks, Cora Mulholland, Ella Ayling, Nadine Reid, Amelia Ridge and Marion King, and brothers Ray, Gerald, Ford, Glen and Austin Abrams. Fondly remembered by sisters-in-law Lela Abrams, Jean Abrams, Marion Smith Lucy Miller and Norma Smith. Fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. The family extends sincere gratitude to all the caregivers at KGH (ER, ICU and Davies 3), for the care and compassion provided to Hub during his frequent visits. Cremation. The family will receive friends at the James Reid Funeral Home (1900 John Counter Boulevard) on Thursday from 2-4 and 7 -9 pm. A memorial service will take place in the chapel on Friday, December 1 at 10:30 am. with Rev. Canon Edward Dallow officiating. Inurnment to follow at Cataraqui Cemetery. AMEY, Elaine Mae Peacefully at the Kingston General Hospital on Thursday, July 27, 2006 at the age of 56. Elaine, beloved mother of Deryk and Gina Amey. Loving grandmother of Nathan and Alyssa Amey. Cherished "sister" and best friend of Carole Jarvis, Brantford, ON. She will be sadly missed by her aunts Vivian Heska (Walt), and Betty Nitka (Gerry), her uncle Dennis Amey, all her cousins and her close friends Nicole Govan and Georgia Davis. She is predeceased by her parents Mac Amey and Mae Hamilton and by her uncles Jack and Leland Amey. In keeping with Elaine's wishes a private visitation and funeral for family and friends will be held at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (John Counter Blvd. at Highway 2). Pearl Black, also known as "Jo" Black, was the beloved daughter of the late Fred and Rosean (nee Blake) Black. Predeceased by her three sisters, Eva Rose Black, Lil Alicia Black and Marion Black. Pearl was a very fine and special lady and will be fondly remembered by all her family and friends, including cousins Elizabeth Stryker (husband Ron, children and grandchildren), Jeannette Shields (children and grandchildren), Muriel Blake, Pat Blake, Rick Blake and Keith Blake, and friends who were as family, Patricia Fisher, Denise Workman, Wendy and Don Workman-Murphy, David Workman, Donna Fox, Devona Wiederick, Buella and Tom McShane, and Helen McRostie. Eleanor (McGonegal), beloved wife and best friend of Jim Brooks, for 58 years. Dearly loved mother of Barry Brooks (Lenka Pospisilova) of Kingston, and the late Larry Brooks. Fondly remembered by Lenka's children, Robin and Patrik Pospisil, of Kingston, her sister Lucille McLaren (the late Keith) of Perth, and also by her nieces and nephews. Eleanor is predeceased by her mother Hazel McGonegal and sister Beryl Manzer. The family extends sincere gratitude to Eleanor's respirologist, Dr. Michael Fitzpatrick, who was not only a devoted caregiver, but a person who she considered to be a special friend. CHAPMAN, Ian Douglas Ian Douglas Chapman, 72, professor emeritus, Trent University; passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2006, at Kingston General Hospital, from complications arising from pancreatic cancer. At his side was his loving companion of 24 years, Bernard Haverhals and their daughters Renee and Jennifer. Ian will be fondly remembered by his sister Denyse and her family, as well as many friends and colleaugues. A memorial service will be held at Old Christ Church (974 Sydenham Road, exit 613 off Hwy 401) Kingston, on Thursday, December 14 at 11:00am. COMPTON, Gertrude Claire Peacefully at Rideaucrest Home on Saturday, February 3, 2007, in her 85th year. Predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Alfred James, infant son David, grandson Stephen Compton and daughter June Marie. Loved daughter of the late Clarence and Marion Smith and sister of the late Marie. Survived by son Larry, daughter Lillian Lawford (Hugh) and son Eddie (Flo), grandchildren Julie Voyer (Rick), Joe Compton (Natalie), Charles Compton (Tammy), Shannon Frink (Rod), Patrick Simkins and Jeffery and Gregory Compton, great grandchildren Lucas Smith, Claire Leonard, Jordan and Jennifer Compton, Miranda and Andrew Compton and Bradley and Brittany Frink. Gertie was born and raised at Floating Bridge. After marrying Alfred, they farmed for many years first at Wilton and later south of Odessa. In the sixties, they moved to Victoria Street in Kingston where they owned and managed several apartments and a rooming house. Gertie was a keen business woman and took great joy in getting a bargain. She was a superb seamstress and upholsterer, as well as a marvelous cook that loved to feed people. She enjoyed many years at the family cottage on Devil Lake and always managed to catch the biggest bass. When she wasn't at the cottage, she took many trips in her Winnebago. Suffering a devasting stroke in 1986 did not slow her down completely. For years, she could be seen on the streets of Kingston in her power chair, shopping or doing her banking at the Kingston Centre. She spent her last 13 years at Rideaucrest, where the devoted and caring staff became her family. In keeping with the family's wishes, a private family service will be held on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 11 am at Bath United Church Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, memorial donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.

Lovingly remembered by her granddaughters, Kelley Ann Gass (Dennis), of Atlanta, Georgia, Janice of Texas, and Amanda and Shannon, of Ottawa, and also by her great grandsons, Timothy and Daniel of Texas. Predeceased by her parents, Charles and Myrtle Morrow and brothers, George and Orval Morrow. He will be fondly remembered by his extended family and many friends. Predeceased by his parents David and Cynthia Craig. Cremation. DUNKINSON, Robert Ian It is with heavy hearts that the family announces Robert's death at home on January 13th, at the age of 60, after a lengthy battle with cancer. Robert was loved and will be missed by his wife Sheila (O'Hara) and his daughters Christy Wither (Brian) and Beth. Bob is predeceased by his parents Frank and Ella (Bell), his brothers Frank (Lena), and James (Naomi) and sister Janet (Ernest Harpell). Bob leaves behind many nephews and nieces and special friends. Bob taught for over 30 years with the Limestone District School Board. (Rideau Heights P.S., Q.E.C.V.I. and Sydenham S.S.). Bob's years on the Brigantine (St. Lawrence II), first as a sea cadet and later as crew and finally an officer, helped form his personal views and values and enabled him to enjoy many hours on the water. Bob also enjoyed watching and playing competitive sports. Special thanks to the staff at the K.G.H. Cancer Care Clinic and the professionals he dealt with in Toronto and Ottawa. Also thanks to the ambulance teams and police officer that attended to Bob on Saturday. According to Bob's wishes there will be no visitation or funeral service. On Saturday, January 20th from 2:00pm -4:00pm or after 7:00 pm, drop in at Bob and Sheila's home to share memories, stories and pictures. A past president of both the Ontario Registered Music Teachers Association (ORMTA), and the parent group, the Canadian Federation of Music Teachers Associations (CFMTA), she was one of the founders of the Kingston Kiwanis Music Festival. Predeceased by his parents Basil and Lena Ferguson and his father-in-law and fishing buddy, Norman Fryer. Sadly missed by mother-in-law Gertie Fryer of North Bay, and in-laws Jerry and Marlene Fryer of Ottawa (their children Ian and Brian), Sherry Fryer (her daughter Leah) of Sudbury, Bill and Susan Fryer of London, Rosemary and Julien Martel of Corbeil (their children Stephan and Jessica, Natalie, Jonathan and Christina and great niece Ashlyn Martel). Resting at the JAMES REID FUNERAL HOME, CATARAQUI CHAPEL (1900 John Counter Boulevard). Friends will be received on Wednesday, from 2 - 4 and 7 - 9 pm. Funeral service in the chapel on Thursday, February 15, at 3:00pm, with The Venerable Bill Clarke officiating. Cremation to follow. As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made to Partners in Mission Food Bank, in Lynn's memory.

FOX, Sherry Ann Mary The beautiful light of our lives has forever gone out. Sherry Ann Fox in her 47th year, on Sunday, December 3, 2006. Peacefully at her sister's home in the arms of Janice and Greg. After a long, tough, courageous fight against breast cancer. Precious daughter of Eunice Fox and the late Austin Fox, beloved sister and best friend of Janice Fox and her husband Greg Howatson, most amazing and inspiring aunt of Rachelle and Lucas Howatson, loving fiance of Ed Vos, dearest friend of Margie Walsh-Tye. Friends and Family will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Blvd. at Highway 2) on Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial to be held in St. Paul the Apostle Church (1111 Taylor Kidd Blvd) on Thursday, December 7, 2006 at 11 am, followed by inurnment Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations made to the Cancer Centre of Southeastern Ontario would be appreciated by the family. Sherry left this world as she lived in it, with the most grace, dignity and love. She will be sadly missed by her many family and friends, as well as her co-workers at Edwards Ford. Special thanks to nurses Marg Milne and Mary Anne Kerford, Dr. Yolanda Madarnas and Dr. John Nuttall. She had a very special way of uniquely touching the lives of everyone she knew. Thank you to the special group of friends who so lovingly helped Jan care for Sherry over the past few months. You will always be her special angels. What an awesome life she lived.

Loving step-father of Shirley and her husband Ben Ermontrout of Dawson Creek, B.C. Friends will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Blvd at Highway 2) on Friday from 10 am until the service time. Memorial Service to be held in the Chapel on Friday, January 26, 2007 at 11 am with reception to follow in the James Reid Reception Centre. Inurnment Cataraqui Cemetery. Loving mother of Laura Fernanda Acosta and Pilar Rosales, both of Kingston. Also remembered fondly by her former husband Luis Rosales of Mexico City, Mexico. Proud grandmother of Bernardo, Christopher, Aram, Luis, Levi and Marlon, also all of Kingston. Dear sister of Guillermo Gonzalez (Emma) of Chicago, Illinois, Maria Gonzalez of Guadalajara, Mexico and Pilar Gonzalez - de Perez (Joel) of Morelia, Mexico. Also remembered with much love by her many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her brothers Fermin Gonzalez and Alejo Gonzalez.
