NICKERSON, Peter Lewis - With profound sorrow we announce Peter's death at age 57 on Saturday, February 17, 2007, peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer. Cherished husband of Kathryn (Hull), dearly loved father of Michael (Patricia) O'Grady and Patrick (Alyson) O'Grady; beloved son of Gloria and Brenton (deceased); precious grandson of Catherine and Clifton (deceased); dear brother of Joanne (Jim McDonnell) and Catherine (Wayne Tatton); adored grandfather of Elysha, Mathieu and Liam O'Grady; loving uncle of Joe, Amanda, Leanne, Jeremy and Sarah; and devoted friend of the Crossman family. Peter, of Nova Scotian heritage, was an avid sailor and his love of the sea began with his experience as a Navy League cadet crewing the Brigantine (St. Lawrence II). At the age of 21 he was a licensed captain of the Miss Kingston Tour Boat Lines. Peter was Kathryn's anchor and guiding force, and sadly he will miss their joy together as grandparents. A gentle man, loyal friend, and a stellar individual in the face of adversity, we will miss Peter dearly and he will be with us in spirit, always. According to the family's wishes, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be held at GLENBURNIE UNITED CHURCH, 1028 Unity Rd. on Friday, February 23, at 2:00pm, followed by a reception in the church hall. In remembrance, donations may be made to University Hospitals Kingston Foundation (St. Mary's of the Lake Hospital, Palliative Care) or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Dear father of James O'Connor of Brandon, Manitoba. Dear brother of Kenneth O'Connor and his wife Helen of Winnipeg and the late Oswald O'Connor. Lovingly remembered by his nieces and nephews. In keeping with John's wishes, cremation will be followed by a private family service at Cataraqui Cemetery (Veterans Section), at a later date. Sandra (nee Hamilton), in her 70th year, beloved wife and best friend of Bruce for 50 years. Loving mother of Penny, Mitchell (Mitch), Robert (Bob) and his wife Bernadeen, Cindy Berry and her husband Larry, and Laurie Fender and her companion Paul. Cherished grandmother of Bobby (Sara), Jennifer, Skyler, Katie, Ashley and Duncan. Fondly remembered by her brother Doug Hamilton of Nelson, BC. Loving mother to her "canine companion", Brandy. PALMER, Walter S. 'A father is a father, forever' Life member of Kingston Naval Veterans Association, member of HMCS Cataraqui Association After a brief illness, peacefully at the Kingston General Hosptial on Wednesday, June 28, 2006 at the age of 81. Walter was predeceased by his first wife Olive (McQuaid) and by his second wife Renee (Taylor). He will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Sharon Knott and her husband Walt of Kingston and Marilyn VanEmber of Dartmouth, NS and by his step-daughter Margaret Beaudry of Duncan, BC. Proud grandpa of Dereck (Melody), and Darcy of Kingston, Dennis (Carole) of Fredericton, NB and Stephen of Duncan, BC. He will be sadly missed by his sisters Hilda Darragh, and Della Hamel of NS, and Grace Fillmore and Bonnie Carter of ON and by his many nieces and nephews. A special thank you is extended to the doctors and nurses of Connell 9 at KGH, especially Brenda Farnquist for their compassioniate care and to dad's extended family at Trillium Ridge Retirement Lodge. SADURA, Jozef Peacefully at Fairmount Home, on Saturday, December 23, 2006, in his 90th year. Dearly loved husband of the late Dorothy Sadura. Beloved father of Anna (Roger Healey), Steven (Kathryn Walt) and Michele (Alan Perry). Dear grandpa to Nicholas, Graeme and Martha Healey; Meaghan, Heather and Rachel Sadura, and Scott, Sarah and Anneka Perry. Predeceased by his family in Poland. Jozef served in the Polish Wing of the British Royal Air Force during WW II. He completed 50 operational flights, and was decorated with the Virtuti Militari (highest Polish award), as well as the Cross of Valour with three bars, and the 39/45 Star, Airforce Europe, Defence Medal and War Medal. Jozef and his wife, Dorothy, emigrated to Canada from Great Britain in 1953, and settled in Kingston in 1955. He worked as a draftsman at Canadian Locomotive until the company ceased operations, at then at Alcan until his retirement. He was an avid gardener, and cross-country skier, and an all-round handyman, making beautiful furniture and building a cottage. He was a true family man, whose wisdom and talents will be sadly missed by all of us. Resting at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard). Friends will be received on Tuesday, December 26, from 7-9 pm., as well as at a reception at the James Reid Reception Centre, immediately following the Mass. Peacefully at home, on Monday, December 25, 2006, with his loving family by his side. Joseph Webster, in his 74th year, beloved husband of Betty (Joyce) for 53 years. Dear father of Dody (Denis) Guindon and devoted grandfather of Danielle (Alastair) Ross and Guy Guindon (Melissa Shook) and great grandfather of Jake Guindon. Loving mother of Pat Freeburn (Tom) of Belleville, Cheryl Druce (Mac) and Bonnie Hawley (Doug), all of Kingston. Proud grandmother of Jeff (Sheri), Jennifer (David), Chris (Natasha), Dustin (Torrie) and Kevin and great grandmother of Joshua, Trista, Jacob and Alexis. WILLIAMS, James Fleming Proud Veteran of World War I I Pilot, R.C.A.F. passed away Thursday, February 1, 2007 at the Kingston General Hospital at the age of 88. Jim graduated from Queen's University as a mechanical engineer with the class of Sc. '49. He was active in a number of organizations including the Queen's Alumni Association, the Association of Professional Engineers of Ontario, the Engineering Institute of Canada, and the Navy League of Canada. He was instrumental in creating a permanent Veterans' Memorial Room in the John Deutsch Centre at Queen's University. Jim worked at DuPont of Canada for a number of years and then joined St. Lawrence College as a Teaching Master in the Applied Science Department. He was heavily involved in planning and organizing engineering night school courses. He also played an important role in curriculum development and engineering technology and in the design of associated laboratories. Jim loved his golf days with his many friends at the Cataraqui Golf Club. He will be missed by the "Golf Gang". Jim is predeceased by his parents Jim and Rene Williams and his loving wife Dorothy. He will be sadly missed by his daughter Anne Mellor (Wally), his granddaughter Laurie, grandsons Rick and Jeff (Maureen), great granddaughter Caitlin and by his close companion Ruth Gurnsey. In keeping with Jim's wishes, cremation will be immediate. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard) on Tuesday, February 6, 2007 at 11 am, The Reverend Richard Fleming officiating. WILLIS, Elmer It is with great sadness that the family of Elmer Willis annouces his passing at the age of 104. He was born April 12, 1902 in Kingston, P.E.I., and died January 6, 2007 in Kingston, Ontario. He was married for 71 years to Gladys Abbott Willis who predeceased him in 1997. Elmer was a wonderful father and will be lovingly remembered by his children; Alton Willis (May) of Oshawa, Joyce Smith of Kingston, Wendell Willis (Susan) of Harrowsmith, Elwyn Willis (Gwen) of Oshawa and Byron Willis (Carolyn) of Oshawa. He is predeceased by an infant son, Arnold and beloved son-in-law, Douglas Smith. He was an adoring grandfather to Gary Willis of Oshawa, Brent Willis (Linda) of Oshawa, Annette Willis (Tom Brennan) of Kingston, Robert Willis (Emily) of Lincoln, VT, Paul Willis of Toronto, and Ryan Willis (Mary) of Sebring, FL. He is predeceased by two beloved grandchildren, Brian Willis and Shannon Willis. He was Great -Grampie to Andrew, Laura, Matthew, Jack and Charlotte Willis. Uncle Elmer will be fondly remembered by a large extended family on P.E.I. Elmer was a fourth generation farmer in Kingston, P.E.I. for over 50 years before moving to Ontario with his wife to be near their children. We will always remember his kindness, his strength, his resourceful mind and his unwavering loyalty to his family, his friends and his church. Beloved husband of 47 years to Maureen. Loving father of Linda Auriemma (Andre O'Brien), Mark (his late late wife Christine), Monty and Wendy (Jeff Wiseman), all of Kingston. YOUNG, Dora It is with much sadness that Justin, Ashley, Lillian and Harold Sleeth announce the passing of their cherished grandmother and mother-in-law, Dora Young (nee Claridge). Dora passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 10, 2007 and will join her beloved husband Alf. Dora was the loving great-grandmother of McKenzie and Ethan, dear aunt of Linda Weaver and her late husband Leslie and son Shawn and much extended family in England.
