Dear step-father of Cheryl and Carol; brother of June Lloyd and Patricia Gartland (Jim); brother-in-law to Elizabeth Paterson, Alice Morris (Harold) and Clifford Gurnsey (Mary).Predeceased by his parents Richard and Leona Ramsey and brother Glen Ramsey. Beloved wife of the late H. Earle Allan. Dearly missed and loved by her son Ross Allan of Toronto, her grandchildren Jamie Allan of Mississauga and Dawn Bedard and her husband Shay of Carrying Place, as well as her great grandchildren Dryden and Madison Bedard. A celebration of Edith's life will be held in the chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard) on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 4 pm. In respect to Edith's wishes, cremation will be immediate and the Interment private. Armstrong, Captain J.W. (Jack), MBE, CD, MID (Retired RCASC) Peacefully, at Ottawa General Hospital on Friday, May 12, 2006. Jack was born in Barrie, Ont. Feb. 7, 1915 Son of the late William Arthur Armstrong and his wife the former Bertha Mae Brown, step son of the late Charles Stewart. He retired from the Canadian Army after 29 years serving in Canada, United Kingdom and North West Europe. Jack participated in the Dieppe raid, a memory that never left him. During his six years overseas he was awarded the MBE and was Mentioned - in - Despatches for service in North West Europe. He began his Military career in May 1931 as a Boy Soldier with the 1st Field Brigade, Ottawa and retired in 1966 from Eastern Ontario Area Headquarters in Kingston. After retirement from the military he was employed by Queens University as Administrative Assistant, Student Health Service for ten years. Jack was an ardent out-door enthusiast and spent many years fishing and hunting. He was an active curler at Kingston Garrison Curling Club. Jack was the husband of the Late Ruby (Way) and is survived by his children Charles (Barbara) Ottawa, John (Marilyn) Kingston, Cynthia (Dennis) Ingersoll and Robert, (Smoky Lake, Alberta) and Grandfather of Scott (Christine) Ottawa, Jocelyn (Christopher) Montreal, Phillip and Eric, Kingston. For the last 5 years Jack has lived in Ottawa at the Colonel By Retirement Residence and the family would like to thank the staff for the care and friendship they have provided. The family thanks the staff of the General Campus of the Ottawa Hospital's Emergency Room, ICU and Neurology team on the 6th floor. Your thoughtfulness was sincerely appreciated. At Jack's request there will be a private service, followed by cremation. Inurnment at Barrie Union Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in Mr. Armstrong's memory.

Grandfather of Christie-Sarah, Paul and Alison; great-grandfather of Reilly. Elder son of the late Joseph and Miriam Banwell of Windsor, Ontario. Predeceased by his sister Beulah, brother Eric and survived by his sister Edith Bailey. Remembered by several nieces and nephews. Life member of Wellington Victory Masonic Lodge in Chatham, Ontario. Special thanks to the entire staff at Extendicare Kingston for their loving and attentive care. His easy personality, and good natured sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him. Annie Bearance, predeceased by her husband Jack, and survived by her sons Douglas (Lorraine), William, and Lyle (Angela); by her grandchildren Russell (Candy), Tony (Kelly), Jay, Angie (Craig), Melanie; her great grandchildren Tyler, Bryant, Cody, Jacob and Cooper and by her sister Eva Scrutton, and many nieces and nephews. A Solemn Eucharist in Thanksgiving for Annie's life and witness will be offered at her home church, THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH OF ST. GEORGE (King and Johnson Streets) Kingston, on Wednesday, July 5 at 3:00 pm. The celebrant is The Right Rev. George Bruce, Bishop of Ontario, assisted by The Rev. Canons John Neal and Allan Lauder. There will be visitation at the Cathedral for one hour prior to the service. Cremation will follow the service with a private rite of committal at a later date. CHECK, Evelyn Catharine 1915 - 2006 (The Evelyn McDonald School of Dancing 1943 - 1971) Peacefully, at Providence Manor, Thursday, August 3, 2006 in her 91st year. Dear mother of Darlene Check (Robert). Fondly remembered by her grandchildren Adam Check (Kristin), Stacy Check Drumm (Jon) and Kristen Check Cantarutti (Marc) and her great grandchildren Tyler, Austin and Avery Check, Ethan and Mary Drumm and Alexandra and Charlotte Cantarutti. Ev was predeceased by her husband, William Check (2004) and by her first husband, Don McDonald (1973). Evelyn will also be missed by Bill and Marilyn Check, Donna and Stan Machinski and families. Evelyn was the only daughter of Edward Lockey and Catharine Tweedley. In keeping with Evelyn's wishes, cremation will be immediate. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard) on Wednesday, August 9, 2006 at 11 am, The Reverend Terry Deline officiating. A reception will follow the service. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.

Beloved husband of Janina for 58 years. Predeceased by his daughter Barbara Bulak. Affectionately known as "Dziadzio" to his grandchildren, Lexi, Chris and Elisa, and dear father-in-law to Wayne Bulak. Also fondly remembered by his relatives in Poland, members of Kingston's Polish community, as well as his neighbours. Resting at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard). Friends will be received on Wednesday from 7 - 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Cathedral (Johnson and Clergy Streets), on Thursday, August 3 at 10:00 am., with Reverend Wieslaw Chochrek celebrating. Rite of Committal prayers at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Multiple Sclerosis Society in Andrew's memory.

COATES, John (Jack) Proud Naval Veteran of WW II It is with deep sadness that the family of John (Jack) Coates announce his passing at the Kingston General Hospital, on Saturday, July 8, 2006, in his 84th year. He is dearly loved by his wife of 56 years, Mary (nee Huffman). Loving father to Jackie Kalmuk (Sam), Robert (Dan McKay), Deborah (Rick Lavery) and Susan (Phil Littlefield). Loving grandfather of Corey, Annie, Nikki, Ben and Sabra and great grandfather of Ronin and Conner. He is predeceased by his parents John and Annie (Moody) Coates, brother George and sister Doreen. John will be fondly remembered by his brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. In keeping with John's wishes, cremation will be followed by a private family graveside service at Cataraqui Cemetery. A MEMORIAL SERVICE in celebration of his life will be held at Zion United Church (106 Pine Street) on Saturday, July 15 at 11:00 am. with Reverend Bill Hendry officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion United Church or The Diabetes Association in Mr. Coates' memory.

Proud grandfather of Rob Lee Evans Davis, Andrew Reade Davis and Christopher Evans McQueen. Dear brother of James Edward Davis and his wife Lois of Wilmont, Ontario and W.H. Davis of London, Ontario. Evans graduated from Upper Canada College in 1939, then joined the RCNVR in January of 1941, serving on the North Atlantic Convoy Run. Following his military service, he attended the University of Massachusetts, where he obtained his Bachelor's of Science in 1951. Resting at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard) on Monday, June 12, 2006 from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm., with the service to be held at 12:30 pm.
