Peacefully at Fairmount Home, after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, June 26, 2006 in his 74th year. Beloved husband of Sheila (nee Clark) for 55 years. Dear father of Carl Joseph (Judy Wagner) of Kingston, Darlene (Ken Deyo) of London, and Heather Wagner of Kingston. Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren Erin, Peter, Christopher and Michael. Dear brother of Carolyn (the late Hugh Baxter) of Nova Scotia and the late Howard Moran. Resting at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Blvd at Highway 2). Friends will be received on Wednesday from 6 to 9 pm. Funeral Service to be held in the Chapel on Thursday, June 29, 2006 at 1 pm. Interment Glenhaven Memorial Gardens. WALROTH, Dorvile J. Peacefully at home, surrounded by the love of his family on June 10, 2006 in his 83rd year. Beloved husband of Beatrice (nee MacKinnon), father to Chris (Tanya), Jane (Mike) and John, and "Grampie" to Kate and Dave de Lugt. Sadly missed by his dear "kid" sister Yula Ferguson, and in-laws Pamela and Bernard Cousens. Predeceased by siblings Thelma, Elwood, Mildred, Muriel, Willa and Derwood. "Uncle Dorv" is fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and extended family. Dorvile was born in Harrowsmith and grew up in Kingston. He volunteered for Naval Service in 1943, serving in the North Atlantic until 1945. Dorvile was a member of St. Margaret's United Church, and HMCS Cataraqui Association. After 43 years working for The Kingston Whig-Standard, retirement brought him new opportunity. As a Kiwanis Silver K member, he volunteered for many community activities. Among his favorites were the Kiwanis Music Festival, Festival of Trees and Kingston Heirloom Quilters Festival of Quilts. The family would life to thank the palliative care staff of KGH, St. Elizabeth Health Care, The Canadian Red Cross and DVA whose support, kindness and compassion were a great comfort to all. In keeping with Dorvile's wishes, cremation will be immediate. Friends will be received at the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Blvd.) on Friday, June 16 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Memorial service in the chapel on Saturday, June 17 at 2:00 pm, with Reverend David Iverson officiating. A reception will follow in the James Reid Reception Centre. Memorial donations may be made to a church or charitable organization of choice. "His special magic lives on inhis friends and family by the love and respect given to others. CHAPMAN, Lulu (Lu) Hazel - Lu passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 16, 2007 at Kingston General Hospital, with her daughter and her grandson by her side. Lu was in her 96th year. Formerly of Gravenhurst and North Bay, Lu was a long time Kingston resident of Marion Community Homes, and Fairmount Home. A woman of great strength and endless kindness, Lu will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by her beloved daughter Anna Pigeau, son- in-law Ernie Pigeau, granddaughter Elizabeth O'Connor (John O'Connor), grandson John Pigeau, and her great grandsons Jacob, Christopher, Jora, and Benjamin O'Connor. She will be affectionately remembered as well by Ted and Joan Chapman of Jarvis, Bob and Marilyn McAfee of Bowmanville, and Gregory McLeod of Toronto. Lu's family would like to thank the staff of the Acute Stroke Care Unit at KGH for the exceptional care, and extend its deepest gratitude to Lu's best friend, Edith Jones, and to the staff of Fairmount Home. In accordance with Lu's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a family graveside service will be held at a later date. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a dear mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Audrey Mildred Cresdee (nee Paige) on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 in her 86th year at her daughter's residence in Gananoque, Ont. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Darlene Matson and son-in-law Ivan, grandson Reginald "Mark" and granddaughter Melissa May Williams and her husband Billy James, great-grandchildren Caroline, Lorissa, Jordyn and Ronny Williams. Audrey was predeceased by her husband Reginald Milfred Cresdee and her parents Delbert and Mildred Paige, her brothers Frank and Don Paige and sisters Dorothy Johnston and Kathleen Bull. Gran was an infinite source of fun and creativity for Alex and Fred Beasley, Jennifer and Claire Donoghue, Nolan, Sara and Sam Hubbard, Jacob Cochrane and Rebecca Linderman. Predeceased by her parents Frank Lashley and Ruby Lashley Valleau (Barbados) and step-father Gordon Valleau (Kingston). FAIR, Justice Ross Harold (Retired) Proud Veteran of World War II Ross Fair, beloved husband, father and grandfather, passed away on Friday, June 22, 2007, at the age of 81. He is survived by his wife Jean, daughters Janet and Judy, son-in-law David, grandchildren Bayley and Zack and by his best friend Dr. Raymond Neill (Bev). The youngest of five boys born to Willard Harold Fair and Helen Frances Fair (nee Westall), he is predeceased by brothers Kenny, Al (Marnie), Jack (Sheila) and Don (Beth). Ross left St. Catharines High School early to join the Navy at 17, and, at war's end, moved to Toronto and obtained his law degree at Osgoode Hall. He was called to the bar in 1952 and subsequently practiced in St. Catharines, Kitchener and Galt. Ross excelled at courtroom work and was a skilled orator. He was appointed to the bench in the Provincial Courts (Family and Criminal Divisions) in 1966, becoming the youngest Judge in Ontario at age 39. In 1977, he was named the Senior Judge for Central-Western Ontario and later became the president of the Ontario Family Judges Association. In 1985, he moved to Kingston to oversee family and youth courts. As a judge, he was recognized as a skilled mediator with a specialty in pre-trial negotiations. Ross was engaged in many community organizations, including The Big Brothers Association, Rotary Club, various youth advisory committees and the Seniors Association. In 1977, he was chosen as Citizen of the Year in Kitchener. Judge Fair's motto was "carpe diem". He loved life and embraced his passions - law, boating, travelling, pets and rare single malt whiskey. He was devoted to his family and friends and will be remembered as a gregarious, gentle and charming man with a warm sense of humour. His family is grateful to the staff at Providence Care, St. Mary's of the Lake site and to Dr. A. Susanto for their kind and compassionate care. A celebration of Ross's life will be held on Friday, June 29, 2007 at 2 pm, in the chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard) with a reception to follow. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations made to the Humane Society or to The Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.

John Fortier, in his 73rd year, beloved husband of Alice (nee Preseault) of Sydenham, (formerly of Ottawa) for 51 years. Loving father of Louise Fortier and her husband Jean Tremblay of Richelieu, QC and Diane Fortier and her husband Pierre Gosselin of Ste. Brigette des Saults, QC. Affectionately known as "Grandpapa" to Robert, Andre and Christine Tremblay, and Melanie and Carolyn Gosselin. Dear brother of George (his late wife Denise), Lucille Fortier (her late husband Paul Lambert), Marie Fortier (her husband Lucien Lamarre), Pierrette Fortier (her husband Fernand Emond), Henrie (his wife Claudette), and Yolande Fortier (her late husband Raymond) . Predeceased by his brother Rene, who died in combat during WW II. GILBERT, Edith Marguerite October 11, 1923 - June 19, 2007 Peacefully in her sleep at Providence Manor on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 in her 84th year, after a difficult struggle with cancer. Survived by her beloved sister Lillian Preston and her cousin Gary Kirby (Carol). Predeceased by her parents Benjamin Gilbert and Annie Hendy and by her brother-in-law Edward Preston. Edie, as she was known to her many friends and colleagues, was a life-long resident of Kingston and a valued employee of the Faculty of Health Sciences at Queen's University, for her entire working career of 47 years. Music, quiet times with a good book and extensive travel occupied her leisure time as well as the company of her close friends. In accordance with Edith's wishes, there will be no visitation. A funeral service will be held in the chapel of the James Reid Funeral Home, Cataraqui Chapel (1900 John Counter Boulevard) on Saturday, June 23, 2007 at 1 pm, The Reverend Timothy Vickery officiating.
