BROWN, ALICE JEAN 85 of Seal Cove, Grand Manan passed away Wednesday, November 10th, at the Grand Manan Hospital. Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth Hunter of Saint John. Mrs. Brown was a member of the Seal Cove Baptist Church, the Ladies Missionary Society, the Fellowship Group, the Adult Bible Study Group, and the Sunday School. She was predeceased by her husband Borden Brown ( 1972 ), and two sisters Hazel Ricker, and Florence Meisner, five brothers Everett, John, Walter, George and Frederick Hunter. She is survived by one daughter Alice Dean ( Bud ) of North Head, three sons Lewis of Fall River, N.S., Kenneth ( Elaine ), and Paul (Shirley) of North Head, N.B., nine Grand Children, and twelve Great Grand Children.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home on Thursday, November 11th, 2-4 PM, 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held from the Seal Cove Baptist Church on Friday, November 12th, at 1:30 PM with Pastor Robert Trites officiating. Interment to follow in Hillside Cemetery, Seal Cove. Margaret Constance (Connie) Bagley
BAGLEY, MARGARET CONSTANCE ( CONNIE ) 76; of Seal Cove, Grand Manan, passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital, Wednesday morning November 17th, 2004. She was the daughter of the late Harley and Florence Small of Seal Cove. Mrs. Bagley was a devoted mother and wife, a member of the Seal Cove Baptist Church, a member of the Baptist Ladies Missionary Society, Sunday School. Before her retirement she operated Bagley s Bed and Breakfast for several years, and was a member of the Grand Manan Tourism Association. Mrs. Bagley was predeceased by her husband Ernest M. Bagley ( Tag ) in 1995. She is survived by three daughters, Gloria Weagle, Mount Uniacke, N.S., Greta Foster ( Jeff ), Woodwards Cove, Gilda Ryder ( Pastor Scott ), Moncton, N.B. one son Tracy Bagley ( Jill ), Deep Cove, N.B. eight Grand Children, threeGreat Grand children, one sister Jessie McLaughlin, Woodstock, N.B. one brother Lyndon Small ( Ardis ), Seal Cove, N.B. as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by one brother James.

William Stanley Bass
BASS, WILLIAM STANLEY BASS, ( BILL ) 87, of North Head, Grand Manan passed away unexpectedly on Monday afternoon, December 6th, at the Grand Manan Hospital. Born at North Head he was the son of the late Ernest and Jenny (Beal) Bass. Mr. Bass was a retired fisherman. He is survived by his wife Ruth Elsie ( Cann ) Bass at home. Three daughters, Ann Hamm ( Mark ) Kemptville, Mary Baker, ( Thomas ), Charlottetown, P.E.I., Joy Bass, Saint John, N.B., one Daughter in law Judith Bass, North Head, two sons Stephen ( Heather ), and Nathan ( Karen ) both of North Head, three sisters Alma Naves, Alice Cook, North Head, Hazel Titus of Manitoba. Two brothers Lester ( Helen ), Sheldon ( Mary ) both of North Head, eleven grand children. Mr. Bass was predeceased one son David 1998, two sisters Margaret and Frances, three brothers Harold, Charles, and George. And one Grand Child Eli Bass 1993.
The family will receive friends and relatives at the North Head Baptist Church on Wednesday evening, December 8th, 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM .On Thursday a private funeral service will be held at the North Head Baptist Church for immediate family and extended family attending, with Rev. Ray B. Russell
After a lengthy illness Mr. Ray B. Russell of Seal Cove, Grand Manan Island passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Thursday February 3rd, 2005, he was 89. Born of the late George and Ann Russell of Seal Cove, NB. Ray went on to work in plumbing and heating for much of his working life, he was a member of St. Paul s Anglican Church where he was a member of the Vestry, and sang with the Church Choir, also a member of the Mananook Lodge #38 and the Oddfellows Lodge. He is survived by his wife Marie, four daughters Mrs. Mary (Stanley) Green of Seal Cove, NB, Mrs. Joan (Robert) Brown of North Head, NB, Mrs. Sandra (Wallace) MacDonald of Hopewell Hill, NB, Mrs. Frances (Gerald) Bainbridge of Saint John, one brother Mr. Jack Russell of Seal Cove, two stepdaughters Mrs. Albertine (Gerald) Griffin of Castalia, NB, Mrs. Alice Patterson of Moncton, NB, two stepsons Mr. Ronald (Brenda) Fleet of Moncton, and Mr. Bev (Amy) Fleet of Castalia. He was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy (Lakeman) in 1977, and also predeceased by two sisters Alice Jones and Julia Guptill, one brother William, two grand children Jacqueline Ruth and Mitchell Edward, and one stepson John.

Rita Mary Stanley
STANLEY, RITA MARY, 87, of Grand Harbour, Grand Manan, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital, on Saturday evening., Feb 5th, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Rogersville, N.B. she was the daughter of the late Larry and Elizabeth Durant. Rita will be sadly missed by her family and many close friends she was a devoted mother and homemaker. She is survived by one daughter Sharon Mason of Kelowena, B.C., two sons Laurence ( Larry ) ( Phillip ) of Grand Manan, and Joey Mason ( Clara Mahar )of Saint John, four Grand Children and six Great Grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her first husband Fred Flagg in 1988, one sister Annie, and one brother Stanley.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home on Monday evening 7-9 PM and again on Tuesday 2-4 PM, 7-9 PM. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 9th, at 1:00 PM, at the Castalia Baptist Church, Castalia, with Rev. Hazel I. Guthrie
The death of Mrs. Hazel I. Guthrie of Rotary Isle Estates, North Head Grand Manan Island NB occurred at the Grand Manan Hospital Friday February 18th, 2005. Born in Port Midway NS she was the daughter of the late Owen and Lottie Munroe.
She is survived by one daughter Mrs. Linda Ingalls (Terrance) of Pennfield NB, four sons Mr. George Harris (Susan) of Grand Harbour NB, Mr. Stephen Harris (Margaret) of Woodwards Cove NB, Mr. Douglas Harris (Dianne) of Tower Hill NB, and Mr. Brian Harris of Grand Harbour NB, one sister Mrs. Dorothy Lewis of Caledonia NS, and one brother Mr. Cecil Monroe (Jessie) of Windsor NS, eleven Grand Children, and sixteen Great Grandchildren.
Hazel was predeceased by her first husband Mr. John A. Harris in 1980 and her second husband Mr. James N. Guthrie in 1994, also one son Raymond, three sisters Elva, Verna, infant Alice, three brothers Maurice, Howard, and Irvin.

Elizabeth L. McLaughlin
After a lengthy illness Mrs. Elizabeth L. McLaughlin passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Thursday September 4th, 2003, she was 91. She was the daughter of the late John and Mabel (Small) Cossaboom of White Head Island.
She is survived by her daughter Dora McLaughlin of Deep Cove, her son James P.M. (Brenda) McLaughlin of Seal Cove. Five Grandchildren Todd (Jenny), Peter, Toby (Trisha), and Robyn, and Sarah L Aventure, as well as five Great Grandchildren Ashley, Tanner, Jane, Madison, and Mya. Mrs. McLaughlin was predeceased by her husband Mr. Glenn H. McLaughlin and one sister Mrs. Ruby Cleland.
There will be no visitation by request of the family and a private family Funeral Service Saturday September 6th, 2003, with internment to follow at the family plot at Hillside Cemetery, Seal Cove N.B..

John Andrew (Andy) Ross
Unexpectedly at his summer residence on Grand Manan Island NB. Mr. John Andrew Ross (Andy) of Toronto Ontario passed away, he was 83. Born at Orillia Ontario he was the son of the late John and Jessie Ross, he later lived in Toronto and served with the Royal Canadian Core of Signals in the Canadian Army during the Second World War. After he was discharged he moved back to Toronto, married his wife Mona, helped raise his family and worked for Bell Canada until his retirement in 1980. Andy as he was known by his friends was a member of the Westfield Presbyterian Church, and also a member of the Bell Pioneers. He is survived by his wife Mrs. Mona Ross (Green), one son Mr. Blair (Trish) Ross of Markham ON, also his three Grand Children, Veronica, Carson, and Robbie. He was predeceased by one daughter Lisa and one son James, also two sisters Ms. Betty Ross and Mrs. Dorothy Roney, and one brother James.
Visiting hours will be held at Ells Funeral Home on Saturday September 20th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, and the Funeral Service will take place from the Grand Harbour United Baptist Church Sunday September 21st, 2003 at 2 PM with Pastor Troy Dennis officiating, internment to follow in the family plot at Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Myhron E. Tate
Tate - After a lengthy illness Mr. Myhron E. Tate of Ingalls Head NB passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital Saturday September 20th, 2003. He was 89.
Born of the late Lester and Eva (Ingalls) Tate in Ingalls Head he went on to work as a Lobster Fisherman, and also later as warden of Kent Island for nineteen years. He was a member of the Grand Harbour United Baptist Church, a charter member and early director of the Grand Harbour Credit Union, and also a founding member of the Grand Harbour Fisherman's Co-op. After his retirement in the mid 1980's Myhron enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family and his loving presence will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Mrs. Eunice Tate, one daughter Mrs. Mary Green (Burtis), two sons Mr. Mervin Tate (Brenda) and Mr. Robert (Bobby) Tate (Elsa) all of Ingalls Head, also eighteen Grand Children, twenty six Great Grandchildren and two Great Great Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son Paul, one sister Virginia Clift, and two brothers Kenton and Thurland Tate.

Florence Marion Rubin
1926 - 2003
RUBIN, FLORENCE MARION ( PETE ), 77, At the Saint John Regional Hospital on Saturday Nov. 29th, 2003 Florence (Pete) Marion (Garnett) Rubin wife of Nathan J. Rubin of 14 Prince William St, St. George, N.B. passed away unexpectedly. Pete was born in Fairhaven, Deer Island on April 14th, 1926. She was the daughter of the late John Wilkinson Garnett and Mary Elizabeth ( Watson) Garnett.
Pete is survived by her husband Nathan (Nate), four sons Louis N. Rubin (Christine), of St. George, Samuel M. Rubin (Sandra) of St. George, Perri R. Rubin of St. Stephen, John D. Haggart ( Lorna), of Toronto, Ont. Two daughters Mary E. McAdam (James) of St. George, Sari L. Harris ( Tony) of Pennfield, N.B. Sixteen Grandchildren Martin Rubin, Louis Rubin, Isaac Rubin, Hillary Rubin, Benjamin Rubin, Aaron Rubin, Andrew McAdam, Jonathon McAdam, Christopher Rubin, Ashley Rubin, all of St. George, N.B. Samantha Cooke ( Rodney) of Second Falls, N.B. Tony ( Bugsy ) Harris of Pennfield, Jordan Rubin of St. Stephen, N.B., Jason Haggart, Lisa Haggart, Lindsay Haggart, all of Toronto, Ont. As well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her mother and father, as well as three brothers and two sisters.
Pete proudly operated Pete s Dairy Bar in St. George for twenty years, she was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Granite Chapter #15 of St. George, a past Queen of Nereides Temple #78, Daughter of the Nile, Saint John, N.B., she was very active in the past as well as a dedicated worker and supporter of the Atlantic Funeral Directors Conventions over the years, and was a dedicated bingo player.
Beloved wife, Loving mother, Grandmother, and a dear friend to many. She was the last living member of her immediate family.
Resting at the St. George Masonic Lodge Hall, # 2 Carleton Street, St. George, N.B. where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday December 3rd, 2003 at 2:30 PM with Rev. David Genge officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives at the Masonic Hall on Monday and Tuesday, December 1st, and 2nd, 2003, 2-5, 6-9 PM. Interment to follow in the family plot St. George Rural Cemetery, St. George, N.B. The family has requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Shriners Hospital for Children ( Charlote County Transportation Fund), or the charity of your choice.

JEAN ( MADDEN ) MARSHALL STANLEY
STANLEY, JEAN ( MADDEN ) MARSHALL STANLEY, 86, of North Head, Grand Manan, N.B. passed away on Saturday morning at the Grand Manan Hospital, December 13th, 2003. Born at South Maitland, N.S. on June 20th, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Alice Madden, and much loved daughter-in-law of the late Mr. and Mrs. Percy Marshall, of Paradise, Annapolis County, N.S. Mrs. Stanley was a Registered Nurse. She began her nursing career at the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, Yarmouth, N.S., where she trained and later graduated as an R.N. After working there for several years, she accepted a position at the Annapolis Regional Hospital, Annapolis Royal, N.S. In 1956 she accepted a position at the Grand Manan Hospital on Grand Manan Island, N.B. where she worked for the next twenty -five years until her retirement in 1982. Mrs. Stanley was a member of the N.B. Nurses Association, the N.B. Senior Citizens Federation, The Grand Manan Museum, the North Head Wesleyan Church, the North Head Wesleyan Ladies Missionaries Society as well as being very active in the circle of her special friends at Rotary Isle Estates.
She is survived by her daughter Joan Marshall Cannings R.N. of Toronto, Ont., one Grand Son Richard Cannings of Calgary, Alta., one grand-daughter Ella Rebanks ( Alex) of Toronto, Ont., as well as one Great Grand Daughter Zuleika Rebanks of Toronto, Ont. Mrs. Stanley was predeceased by her Husband Hollis Stanley in 1998.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Tuesday, December 16th, at the North Head Wesleyan Church, North Head, Grand Manan, at 2-4, 7-9 PM from where the funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 17th, 2003 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Charles Bain officiating. Interment to follow in the family plot in the North Head Community Cemetery.
The family has requested donations to the Rotary Club Trust Fund or to a memorial of your choice. There will be a reception following the service for all to attend at the North Head Wesleyan Church Hall, North Head, N.B. THEODORE CLYNE HUCKINS
HUCKINS, THEODORE CLYNE, 71, of Woodwards Cove, Grand Manan, N.B. passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital on Wednesday afternoon December 17th, 2003 after a lengthy illness.
Born in Woodwards Cove he was the son of the late Clyne and Elizabeth ( Linton ) Huckins. He was a retired fisherman. He is survived by his wife Doris ( Green ) Huckins at home, four daughters Beverly Brown, Grand Harbour, Shelly Huckins, Ingalls Head, Theo Laffoley ( Rudy ), Deep Cove, Stacey Clinch, ( Todd ), Castalia, two sons Caulder Huckins ( Beryl ) Woodwards Cove, Frankie Huckins ( Vannessa ), Grand Harbour, One sister Pheobe Foster , North Head, one brother Jack Huckins ( Nellie ) North Head, N.B. As well as Thirteen Grand Children, and five Great Grand Children as well as several nieces and nephews.

Scott C. Ingersoll
Unexpectedly on Wednesday December 17th, 2003 Mr. Scott C. Ingersoll of North Head Grand Manan Island NB passed away; he was 58.
Scott worked as a fisherman, and also was a former proprietor of the North Head Irving Convenience Store, he loved his family and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing cards, he was a friend to all with his quick wit and fun sense of humor and will be sadly missed by everyone who was fortunate to have known and been able to spend time with him.
Scott is survived by his wife Sandra, his father Mr. Sherwin Ingersoll of North Head, two daughters Jodi Ingersoll of London England U.K., and Jennifer King of Digby NS, one son Darren Ingersoll (Jennifer) of St. George NB, three sisters Mrs. Barbara Guptill (Sydney) of Seal Cove NB, Jacqueline Monroe (Robert Linton) of Castalia NB, Mrs. Cathy O Neill (Phillip) of Seal Cove, and one brother Stuart Ingersoll of North Head NB, three Grand Children and several nieces and nephews, one uncle Harry Stanley (Marjorie), and one Great Aunt Jeanette Cary. He was predeceased by his mother Alda and one sister Myrna Johnson.
Visiting hours will be held from Ells Funeral Home Sunday December 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 PM, with the Funeral Service being held from the North Head Wesleyan Church Monday December 22nd, 2003 at 1 PM with Rev. Della Marie Ingersoll
DELLA MARIE INGERSOLL, 92, of Seal Cove, Grand Manan, occurred at the Grand Manan Nursing Home on Wednesday, August 4th, 2004.
Born on Wood Island. She was the loving wife of Julius W. Ingersoll, who predeceased her in 1991.
Della graduated from the Chipman Memorial Hospital School of Nursing and worked in the St. Stephen and Calais area as a private duty nurse and also on Grand Manan Island. She later worked with her husband in the grocery business in Seal Cove. A faithful member of the Seal Cove Baptist Church she sang in the Choir and has now gone home to be with her Lord.
Survived by her son Dale (Marjorie) Ingersoll, Quispamsis, one grand-daughter Heidi (Mike) Mew, Saint John, one great grand-daughter Sarah Mew, Saint John, also two step grandsons, Ernest Joy, St. George, Norman (Melanie) Joy, Grand Manan, and four step great grand-children, Sidney, Jerusha, Beverly, and Samantha, one brother Guy (Audrey) Cossaboom, Martinon, N.B. as well as several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ingersoll was predeceased by her husband and two sisters Josie Dalzell, Grand Manan, and Georgia Harding,Fredericton,N.B.

Alta C. Ingersoll
After a brief illness Mrs. Alta C. Ingersoll of Seal Cove, Grand Manan Island passed away Saturday May 17th, 2003 at the Grand Manan Hospital, she was 87.
Born on Wood Island she was the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Leland and Clara Wilcox. Mrs. Ingersoll was a memeber of the Seal Cove Wesleyan Church and also worked at the Connors Brothers Sardine Factory in Seal Cove for many years. She is survived by her husband Mr. Blake Ingersoll, two daughters Nancy Ingersoll of Seal Cove, NB, Lorna Cleghorn of St. Stephen, NB, two sons Larry (Audrey) Ingersoll of Edmonton AL, Verdi Ingersoll of Grand Harbour, NB. Four sisters Mrs. Ester Allen of Blacks Harbour NB, Mrs. Kathleen Wilcox of Pennfield NB, Mrs. Lydia Parker of Castalia NB, and Mrs. Ella (Bev) Cary of Woodwards Cove NB, and four Brothers Mr. (Baker) Manson (Helen) Wilcox of Port Maitland NS, Rev. Walter (Alva) Wilcox of Moncton NB, Mr. Lester (Betty) Wilcox of Pennfield NB, and Mr.Willis (Thelma) Wilcox of Seal Cove NB. Nine Grand Children, ten Great Grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ingersoll was predeceased by one son Dennis.

Louise Ruth (Ingersoll) McLaughlin, 91, of Seal Cove, Grand Manan passed away at the Grand Manan Hospital on Thursday evening, February 27th, 2003, after a breif illness. Born in Seal Cove, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Menerva ( Benson ) Ingersoll of Woodwards Cove, N.B. Louise and Laurence were wed on Grand Manan Island, living in Saint John during the War years. Due to the illness of one of their sons they moved to Boston, Mass. Later they settled and worked in Nobleboro, Maine. In later years during retirement they returned home to Grand Manan and settled in Seal Cove. Louise was an avid reader and she enjoyed people, discussions on any topic, and certainly will be missed by many.
Louise is survived by one daughter Lauren ( Rev. James ) McLaughlin-Butler, Saint John, N.B., Eleven grand Children, ten Great Grand Children as well as several neices and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Laurence Donald, two daughters Thelma and Carolyn, three sons Francis, Cameron and Anthony, two sisters Zelma, and Marie, three brothers Leonard, Nelson (Johnnie), and a twin brother in infancy.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home, Grand Harbour on Saturday 2-4 PM, 7-9 PM, The funeral service will be held at the Seal Cove United Baptist Church, on Sunday, March 2nd, 2003 at 1.PM with Rev. Robert Trites officiating. An Interment service will be held at a later date in the spring at Hillside Cemetery, Seal Cove, N.B. Donations to the Seal Cove United Baptist Church Memorial Fund or to the Arthritis Society would be appreciated. Gerald Burpee Hunter, 76, of 2199 Route # 776, Deep Cove, Grand Manan, N.B. passed away unexpectantly at the Grand Manan Hospital on Wednesday morning, July 16th, 2003
Born at Hunter Lake, Saint John, N.B. he was the son of the late Frank and Mabel ( Smith ) Hunter of Hunter's Lake, N.B.
Mr. Hunter was retired.
He was the proprietor of Hunter's Garage, Seal Cove, and Cliff By The Sea Cottages, Deep Cove, N.B. Mr. Hunter will be fondly remembered by many students of the Grand Manan School system as he was a School Bus Driver for many years.
He leaves to mourn his wife of 54 years, Maude Alva (Wilcox ) Hunter, Deep Cove., two daughters Joyce Marie Harten ( Richard ) of Moncton, Anna-Lisa Vandenberghe ( Stephen ) of London, Ont. One sister Carol- Nina MacLean ( Hazen ) of Hunter Lake, N.B. Four brothers Allen ( Adele ) of Kanata, Ont, Marven ( Jean ) of Kelona, B.C. Donald ( Pearl ) of Hunter Lake, N.B. Carl (Linda) of Bloomfield, N.B. Five Grand Children, Two Great Grand Children as well as several neices and Nephews.
He was predeceased by one brother Royden (Mariam ) Hunter, of Saint John, N.B.
The family will receive friends and relatives at Ells Funeral Home, Grand Harbour, on Thursday, 2-4, 7-9 PM, Friday 2-4, 7-9 PM.
Funeral service will be held at the Grand Manan School Auditorium, Grand Harbour on Saturday, July 19th at 1:30 PM.. Interment will take place in the family plot Maple Grove Cemetery.
Rememberances to the N.B. Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
