He was predeceased by his loving wife Edna Muriel Hilyard,of nearly 61 years. They were so devoted it's amazing how he managed to keep his spirits up after her passing. He worked as a fisherman all his life and during the last years he spent many hours in his boat shop. The small boats he built can be seen around the area being used as life boats for larger vessels. His talents were many and in his later years he was well known for his hand crafted baskets, rocking horses and rocking chairs many of which were given as gifts or donated as fund raisers for various churches. Some of his favorite highlights were the family get togethers, hot dog roasts and taking everyone fishing. He especially enjoyed gardening, flowers and vegetables, and making bread in his bread machine, labours of love which he proudly distributed to his many friends along with his ever popular SMOKED FISH. He was a longterm member AF~AM #37 Washington Masonic Lodge in Lubec, Maine. He'll be sadly missed, but has left us with many happy memories. In accordance with his wishes, after cremation, a memorial service and Interment will be held at a later date......as he said, 'When it's convenient for everyone, sometime in the summer, just put me down beside Mamma.' True to form, he has always thought of everyone else. As he always said of all the children, we can now say of him ,'Bless his Heart . They don't come any Better.'
The family is very grateful and appreciative to all the nurses and staff of the Campobello Lodge Nursing Home, for not only providing excellent care for Victor, but, also, for extending their thoughtfulness to the family. Donations may be made in his memory to the Campobello Lodge Nursing Home to establish a Palliative Care Unit,(a special unit that provides end-of-life care) 640 Route 774, Unit 2 Welshpool, N. B., E5E 1A5
