Born March 13, 1926, son of the late William and Rose (McFarlane) Gowan of Elmsville Charlotte County, N.B. Jim has been a resident of Ridgewood Veterans Hospital Saint John, N.B. for the past five years.
Jim is survived by his wife, Lorenne (Johnston) Gowan, his children, Allen (Elaine) Gowan, Darlene (Wayne) Carson, James (Roselle) Gowan and Richard (Cindy) Gowan, six grandchildren, two great granddaughters, three sisters and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by eight brothers and one sister.
Funeral service will be held from Christ Anglican Church, Prince William Street, St. Stephen, N.B., on Thursday July 3, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. with Canon John Matheson, Rev. Peter Mills and Rev. Predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Mabel (Bell) Graham, six brothers and three sisters.

Annie L.( Douglas) Hossack
Hossack - at the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen NB. May 05,2004 just days before her 90th birthday. Annie L.( Douglas) Hossack of 2 Porter Street St. Stephen NB. Wife of the late Carman J. Hossack. Annie was born at New Jeruselm on May 9th 1914, she was the eldest of five daughters of William and Margaret (Bates) Douglas. Annie attended Teachers College in Fredericton, N.B. and taught school for several years in southern N.B. she met and married Carman Hossack at Oak Hill N.B.in 1937. together they raised three children and lived in St. Stephen, N.B. all of her life until her death. She and Carman bought Berts Diner in 1953 reconstructing Carmans Diner in 1962 which they operated successfully for many years . Carmans Diner remains a Hossack family business and now a landmark in St. Stephen, N.B. area. Annie was a life long member of Union Street Atlantic Baptist Church, immersing herself in church activities. She taught Sunday School and Bible Classes and was a life time member of the Baptist Guild and Missionary Society. Also a member of the Charlotte County Hospital Auxillary. Survived by one son Royce of Kingston, NY. and one daughter Donna of St. Stephen, N.B. 9 grandchildren,12 great grandchildren, 2 sisters Susie and Grace and several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by one son Dennis.
Rested at the S.O. Mehan and Son Funeral Home Ltd. 23 Main St. St. Stephen. Visitation was held Friday May 07,2004 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM.
Annie has requested a private family funeral service will be held with Rev. Dr. Garth Williams officiating. Carmans Diner was closed on Saturday afternoon May 8, 2004. Annies family invited her friends to join them at Carmans Diner at 4:00 P.M. to help them celebrate her life. Words are failing to express the sadness her death has brought to the family and friends but she knew where she was going and so do we, we will miss her so much.
Interment was in St. Stephen Rural Cemetery, St. Stephen, NB.

1913-2007
Anna Mae Ashley passed away peacefully on October 20, 2007 at the home of her daughter Bette Ashley on the Kingston Peninsula. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur and Margaret (Stanhope) Fairhead. She was born December 23, 1913 in Oak Bay, N.B.
She is survived by 2 daughters, Marcia Smith of Oak Bay, N.B. and Bette Ashley(Cathy Phillips) of Kingston Peninsula, N.B., 6 grandchildren, Albert(Laurie)Smith of Alberta, Margaret(Allan)Raven of Alaska, Jeffrey Smith of Alberta, Lisa(William) McClanaghan of Oak Haven, N.B., Richard(Lori)Smith of Fredericton, N.B., Nancy(Rob Brown) of Gordonsville, N.B.,1 step granddaughter, Valerie(James) of U.S.A.,12 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and also good friends Evelyn MacLeod and Dorothy Phillips. Anna was predeceased by her husband Burton and infant daughter Janice, 5 sisters and 1 brother. Anna was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the Oak Bay United Baptist Church and an adherent to the Bayswater-Summerville United Church, Kingston Peninsula. She was a past member of IODE, Missionary Society and the Monday Night Club.

CARTER-THOMAS JAMES CARTER of Chamcook, NB on Feb 5, 2007, at 88 yrs of age, at CCH. Born in County Durham, England, Tom is survived by wife of 65 years Eunice Carter (Howse), three children: David Carter of Portland OR, Lynette Carter Weinman of Digdeguash, NB, Adrian L. Carter of Vancouver, BC; and their families, grandson J. Nathan Weinman of Maryland, USA and Sara Brown, Maryland, USA, granddaughter Stephanie Carter of Portland, OR, nephews Leonard Carter and Brian Carter, England and all the families; and many, many friends near and far, who knew him as a gentleman and a caring and funny man. Also Shadow, Tillie, Toby.

BARTLETT, Gerald Edward: Valley Road, St. Stephen, NB on February 6, 2007 at 83 years of age. Husband of 60 years of Martha Mary (Locke).
He was a Veteran of World War II, Past President of St. Stephen Royal Canadian Legion Branch #9, lifelong employee of Ganong Brothers and faithful member of Kirk McColl United Church.
A gentle, quiet man who enjoyed life, family, friends and nature.
Survived by his wife, Martha, 4 children, Joyce (Wayne) Crompton, Saint John, Geraldine (Ron) Aiken, Tower Hill, Tom (Holly) Bartlett, Red Deer, Alberta, Stephen (Karen) Bartlett, Nasonworth, NB, grandchildren, James (Debbie) Aiken, Michael Crompton, Michelle Bartlett, Shane (Jodi) Crompton, Natalie Bartlett (Dean) and Nicholas Bartlett, great grandchildren, Erin, Brandon and Mason, great, great grandchild, Maddox, sister, Arlene Bradford, Oak Haven, NB, many nieces, nephews and friends, near and far.

Burton is survived by his wife, Mary Faith (Lever), three sons, Arnold (Terri) RollingDam, N.B., Andrew (Jennifer) Calgary, AB., Aaron Valley Road, N.B., one daughter, Edith Sipprell (Brian) Quispamsis, N.B., three granddaughters, Megan Sipprell, Brittney Cleghorn and Brooklyn Cleghorn, two grand sons, Nicholas Sipprell and Tyler Cleghorn, two special grand daughters, Ashley Holland and Kalisha Coleman, six brothers, Harold, Kenneth, Ronald, Darrell, David and Sheldon, one sister, Doreen Greenlaw, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by two brothers, Wilfred and Ralph and one sister Elaine.
