The death of David Stiles, age 61 of Lakeville occurred Saturday, January 6, 2001 at the Moncton City Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Dorchester Cape he was a son of the late Ralph and Barbara (Houghton) Stiles.
An automotive sales and service person he retired after more than 30 years of service. A lover of country music he was an avid hunter, outdoorsman and a woodworker.
David will be sadly missed by his wife, Linda (Brown), Lakeville, a son Gordon (Heather), Lakeville, a daughter Lori (Trevor), Moncton, a brother Robert (Pat), Riverview, 3 sisters, Dorothy (Douglas) Beed, Riverview, Jeanne (David) D'Antimo, Brampton, ON, and Susan (Robert) Scott, Mississauga, ON, 2 grandchildren, Katrina and Samantha, as well as by his close friend and mother-in-law, Vera Brown, Lakeville and several nieces and nephews.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visiting hours Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, January 10, 2001 at 2 PM, Pastor Rick Marsters officiating. Burial in the Dorchester Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the Heart and Stroke Fund would be appreciated by the family.
Lillian Martin
The death of Lillian Martin of Sackville, occurred suddenly at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on January 31, 2001.
Born in Springhill, NS, she was a daughter of the Late Charles and Viola (Campbell) Ashe. Very active in her community she was a member of St. Paul's Angliican Church, the Sackville Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Sackville Seniors Club. Lillian was one of the oldest and an active member of the Nova Scotia Black Cultural Society. She participated in the Salvation Army Home League. She was an avid traveller, and an enthusiastic bingo player.
She will be sadly missed by 3 sons; Brent (Bertha), Ottawa, ON, Arnold (Joanne), Amherst, NS, Wayne (Betty) of Shediac, 3 daughters; Brenda (Herbie) Belliveau, Shediac, Shirley (Butch Lamerou) Lecelle, Sudbury, ON, Gloria (Jim) Gushue, Manitouwadge, ON, 17 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 1 sister; Sadie Allen, Springhill, NS. She was predeceased by her husband Henry in 1982, 2 sons; Clifford and Raymond, 2 brothers; Irvin and Raymond, 1 sister; Eleanor.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville, NB (364-1300) with visiting hours Friday from 7 to 9 pm. The funeral will be held from St. Paul's Anglican Church on Saturday, February 3, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring. Donations to the donor's choice.
Jessie Primrose Langille
April 6, 1902 - January 3, 2001
The death of Jessie Langille, age 98 of Sackville occurred at the Drew Nursing Home, Sackville on Wednesday, January 3, 2001.
Born in Tatamagouche, NS, she was the daughter of the late Gavin Bell and Elizabeth (Campbell) Clark.
A graduate of Nova Scotia Teacher's College she taught in schools in Canso, Hopewell, Tatamagouche and Liverpool. She was a member of the United Church of Canada and served with her husband in the United Churches of Liverpool, NS, Trinity St. Stephens United Church, Amherst, NS, Cochrane Street United Church in St. Johns Nfld, Portland United Church, St. John, NB and in Chalmers United Church in Windsor, Ontario. She was also soloist while in Trinity St. Stephens. She shared a love of music with her husband Warren and established the Dr. Warren L. Langille Music Bursary in his memory at Mt. Allison University.
She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Warren Langille,, Sisters; Nan Windeler and Mary McCurdy and Two Brothers; Arch and John Clark. She is survived by one sister, Elizabeth MacLellan, Halifax, NS and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) on Thursday from 2 to 4 PM. A Memorial Service will be held at the Drew Nursing Home, Main St., Sackville on Friday, January 5, 2001 at 2 PM. Burial in the Amherst Cemetery in the spring. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Sackville Memorial Hospital or Charity of the donor's choice.
Bill Johnstone
January 30, 1949 - January 14, 2001
The death of Bill Johnstone, age 51, of Sackville occurred at the Moncton City Hospital on Sunday, January 14, 2001.
Born in Sackville he was a son of George and Eileen (Scott) Johnstone.
A well known businessman, Bill was the owner of Johnstone Save Easy in Sackville. An active member of Main Street Baptist Church he operated the audio equipment, was involved with the Sunday School and all activities in the church. Bill was a recipient of the Paul Harris Fellowship from the Sackville Rotary Club and was a philanthropist to the community groups and people of the area.
Bill will be sadly missed by his wife of 32 years, Starr (Wheaton) Johnstone , a son, Troy, Sackville, 2 daughters, Stacy, Moncton and Alana of Sackville, as well as his parents, George and Eileen (Scott) Johnstone of Sackville,5 brothers, Douglas, Donald (Debbie), Brian (Marlene), and Stephen, all of Sackville and Paul (Faye) of Surrey, BC as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Tuesday and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 18, 2001 at 2 PM at the Mount Allison University Convocation Hall, Sackville. Reception to follow at the Main Street Baptist Church. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring.
Because of Bill's love for his Lord Jesus, and his community, contributions in Bill's memory may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church, the Tantramar Regional Civic Centre or the Sackville Memorial Hospital.
John A. W. (Jack) Fox
January 16, 2001
The death of Jack Fox, age 71, of Sackville, occurred at the Drew Nursing Home on Tuesday, January 16, 2001.
Born in Yarmouth, NS, he was a son of Ashford and Jean (Pickrem) Fox. A graduate of McGill University he was a physical education teacher , teaching in Tatamagouche, Digby and Amherst, NS. Leaving education, he became a fund raising consultant. An outdoorsman, Jack devoted his life to sports and hunting. He was outstanding as a coach of track and field and gymnastics. He was a volunteer for the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Jack is survived by his wife Sandra (Latta), 2 daughters, Ruth (Richard) Cottingham, Halifax, and Chris Ashley Fox, Iowa State University, and a son Jason of Moncton.
The remains have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St, Sackville, NB (364-1300). A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday and Thursday evening from 7 to 9 PM. A memorial service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home on Friday, January 19, 2001 at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
Marjorie Georgia Dykeman

The death of Marjorie Dykeman, age 95 of Sackville, widow of Ralph Dykeman, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, January 15, 2001.
Born in Acton, NB she was a daughter of the Late William and Fanny (Rosborough) Thompson.
Marjorie was a life long member of the Atlantic Mission Society (WMS), St. Andrews Presbyterian Church and an honorary member of the Village Club in Westcock, an avid flower gardener and a quilter.She will be sadly missed by her 2 daughters, Juanita Robinson and Florence Cple, both of Sackville and 2 sons Wm. Hazen (Myrna) Dykeman of York, PEI and Dr. Winston (Doreen) Dykeman, Hillsborough, NB, 15 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren and one niece Hazel LaPlante, Florida . She was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 1990 and by 2 brothers, Sandy and Alfred Thompson and a sister Mary Davis.
The remains of the Late Marjorie Dykeman have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) from where visiting hours will be held Thursday from 6 to 10 PM. The funeral service will be held at the St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 19, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Ruth Houtby officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
Sterling Stephen Allen
January 12, 2001
The death of Sterling Allen, age 77 of Sackville occurred suddenly at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Friday, January 12, 2001.
Born in Cape Tormentine, he was a son of the Late Dana and Georgina (Allen) Allen.
An active person throughout his life he was a farmer, fisherman and carpenter . The past 20 years he was a garage attendent at Rod Allen's Shell, Sackville. He was a member of the Sackville Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion by affiliation.
He is survived by his wife Marguerite (Allen) of Sackville, a son Rod (Brenda) of Sackville, 2 daughters, Thelma Allen (Boyd) of Barrie, ON and Shirley Wilson of Amherst and 1 sister Evelyn (Raymond) Hicks of Sackville, 11 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother Vance.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, (364-1300) with visiting hours Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, January 14, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Dr. Jamie Gripton officiaiting. Burial in the Bayfield Cemetery in the spring. A time of tea and fellowship will be held in the reception room of the funeral home immediately following the funeral service. Ruby (Oulton) Withers
June 22, 1908 - December 12, 2001
The death of Ruby (Oulton) Withers, age 93, occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2001. Born in Ford's Mills, Kent County, NB, she was a daughter of the Late John and Isabell (Beers) Oulton. She was a member of Main Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son Gerald (Rosemary), New Maryland, NB, and 2 grandchildren, Derrick and Jason. She was predeceased by husband Ralph, and brothers George, Nash, Ralph, and Larry.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visiting hours Thursday from 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home on Friday, Dec. 14, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Barry Todd officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery.
Lloyd George Sprague
1917-2001
The death of Lloyd George Sprague, age 84, occurred at his home on Friday, December 28, 2001.
A son of the Late Joseph and Grace (Bugley) Sprague, he was a fisherman, stone mason and well driller.
Lloyd will be sadly missed by his daughters, Christella (George) Newcombe, Amherst, Ella (John) Raphorst and Evelyn (Tom) Strong, both of Oshawa, ON and Ruby Sprague of ON., Bonnie (Mike Spence) Goodwin and Gail (James) Chapman, both of Baie Verte, a step-son Robert (Pauline) Goodwin, Port Elgin, step-daughters, Patricia (Alan) Goodwin, Baie Verte and Virginia May (Dewey) Schow, Wolfboro, NH, a brother, Peter (Louise) Sprague, ON a sister, Aletha Allen, Port Elgin as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by wives, Dorothy and Hilda, step-son Milton, step-grandson, Tracy, brothers, Wellington, William, James, Leslie and Ira and sisters, Dora, Olive, Hilda and Devona.
The remains have been forwarded for cremation. A memorial service will be held at the Jones Funeral Home, 3 West Main St., Port Elgin on Wednesday, January 2, 2002, 2 PM, Ms. Sue King-Darby officiating. Burial in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin in the spring. Donations to the Lung Association or charity of the donor's choice would be appreciated.
Doreen Bembridge Snowdon
Feb. 14, 1920 - Dec. 16, 2001
The death of Doreen Bembridge Snowdon, age 81 occurred on Sunday, December 16, 2001 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Sackville she was a daughter of the late George and Susie (Goodwin) Bembridge.
Doreen and her husband Roy ran a country store for a number of years. She also worked at the Sackville Laundry. She was a member of the Wood Point Baptist Church, having lived in Wood Point for many years and the Drew Nursing Home for the last 4.
Doreen will be sadly missed by her children; 6 daughters, Eileen (Fred) Estabrooks and Donna Snowdon, both of Sackville, Barbara (Jack) Siddall, Wood Point, Marilyn (Roger) Richard, Oshawa, ON, Susan (Jim) Hennessy, Bathurst, NB and Bonnie Snowdon, Guatemala, 2 sons, David, Halifax and Michael (Isobel), Sackville, 16 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Roy in 1992 and was the last surviving member of her immediate family being predeceased by brothers, Art, Ken, John, Ralph, Ray and Harold and sisters, Lucy, Sue, Kelly and Grace.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville with visitation Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 19, 2001 at 2 PM, Pastor John Kiehn officiating. Burial in the Westcock Cemetery.

Devona (Bonnie) O'Connell
The death of Devona (Bonnie) O'Connell occurred at the Gables Nursing Home, Amherst, NS on Friday, December 28, 2001.
Born in Port Elgin, she was a daughter of the Late Michael and Annie (Chapman) O'Connell.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Her remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St. Sackville (364-1300) from where the funeral service will be held on Monday, December 31, 2001 at 11 AM. Visiting hours will be held from 10 AM until the time of the funeral. Burial in the Fernwood Cemetery, Port Elgin in the spring.
Clinton Roy Field
The death of Clinton Field, age 51 of Port Elgin occurred on Friday, December 28, 2001 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital.
Born in Little Shemogue he was a son of Reginald Field and the Late Betty (Agnew) Field.
A fisherman's helper he worked from the Petit Cap Wharf for the last several years
He is survived by his father Reg Field, St. Andrews, NB, 2 daughters, Tracy (Chad) Cameron, Haley Station, ON and Megan Field, Great Shemogue, a grandchild, Brady, a brother, James, Ottawa, ON, and 3 sisters, Carolyn Fagan, Port Elgin, Wendy Silliker and Susan (Arthur) Corning, both of St. Andrews, NB.

William "Bill" Crawford
The death of Bill Crawford, age 56, son of Marjorie (Paulsen) and the Late Dr. William S.H. Crawford occurred following a lengthy illness at his home on Thursday, December 6, 2001.
Bill was a 20 year employee with Caterpillar Equipment working as a world representative in North and South America, Russia, Southeast Asia, Australia and the Caribbean. A man of varying interests he had been a school teacher, real estate agent and a mechanic. He was a member of the Sackville United Church, a gourmet cook and hobby fisherman and was a recent student of NB Community College.
Bill will be sadly missed by his wife the former Maricarmen (Martinez), Sackville, his mother, Marjorie Crawford, Sackville, a daughter Katarina, at home, 5 step-children in Colombia and Chile and 13 step grandchildren, a brother Fred (Barbara) Crawford, Lower Coverdale and a niece Shelley Crawford, Riverview.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the Mount Allison University Chapel on Monday, December 10, 2001 at 2 PM. Rev. Jamie Gripton and Rev. John Perkin officiating, Burial will follow in the Sackville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heart or Kidney Foundation.
Sarah Akey
The death of Sarah Akey, age 83 of British Settlement occurred at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, December 19, 2001.
Born in British Settlement she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Olive Lerette Duncan.
Sarah will be sadly missed by 3 sons; Ervin, Amherst, Alvin, Sackville , and William , Stanford, California, 5 daughters; Yvonne Nye, British Settlement, Carol, Linda, Daphine and Audrey all of Amherst, NS, 2 brothers; Frank Duncan, British Settlement and Earl Duncan of Hamilton, On, 1 sister; Mrs. Hester King, British Settlement, 20 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Ralph in 1987, a son, Alan, 2 grandsons, 2 brothers; Ralph and Edmond, and 1 sister, Florena.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) with visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, December 21, 2001, at 2 PM Rev. Father Kevin Stockall officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery.
Annie Wilma Trenholm
December 1, 1914 - December 22, 2001
The death of Annie Trenholm, age 87 of Sackville occurred at the Drew Nursing Home on Saturday, December 22, 2001.
Born in Bayfield, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and (Emma Ashe) Trenholm.
Annie was a cook for 25 years with Mount Allison University, and she was a faithful member of the Main Street Baptist Church.
She is survived by 2 daughters; Jean Pye and Eileen Bennett both of Pugwash, 16 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren, a sister Agatha Stillman of Port Elgin. She was predeceased by son Floyd and Daughters; Marie & Judy by her husband Judson, 2 grandchildren, 2 brothers; Ivory Trenholm and Melvin Trenholm and a sister, Carman Leard.
The remains rested at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville (364-1300) from where the funeral service will be held Sunday December 23, 2001 at 2 PM, Pastor Barry Todd officiating. Reception to follow in vestry of Main Street Baptist Church. Visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 12 to 2 PM. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Main Street Baptist Church or a charity of the donor's choice. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery.
June Blacklock
March 2, 1948 - December 23, 2001
The death of June Blacklock, age 53 of Port Elgin occurred at the Highland View Hospital on Sunday, December 23, 2001.
Born in Springhill she was a daughter of Bennie and Lillian (Chapman) Bacon.
June was a homemaker, a mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her husband Ralph, Port Elgin, 4 sons, David, Douglas and Joseph Blair, all of Truro, and Darren Blair, North Bay, ON., also by 8 step-sons, Larry Blacklock, Edmonton, AB, Kencil, Kevin, Ashley, Timothy and Keith Blacklock , all of Port Elgin, Hazen Blacklock, Amherst and Michael Blacklock, Robichaud, and 3 step-daughters, Karen Blacklock, Little Shemogue, Tanya Stright, Murray Corner and Stacey Blacklock, St. Stephen, 2 grandchildren and 8 step-grandchildren, a twin sister Joyce Ibbitson, Baie Verte, a half-brother and four half-sisters, a brother-in-law Joseph Kenny, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one infant daughter and one step grandchild.

Florence L. Wheaton
January 8, 1911 - April 8, 2001
Florence L. Wheaton passed away peacefully at her home in Upper Point de Bute on Sunday, April 8, 2001.
Born in Middle Sackville, she was the daughter of the Late James & Annie (Morton) Anderson. She was married to Wilfred Wheaton in 1938, had three children and they moved to a farm in Point de Bute in 1952.Florence was predeceased by her husband in 1992 and by two brothers, Josiah and Donald Anderson.
She is survived by one brother, Charles (Glenara) Anderson of Middle Sackville, her daughter Bertha Douglas of Point de Bute (Robert, Mahone Bay, NS) and sons James (Shirley) Wheaton of Point de Bute and Roland (Louise) of Calgary.Florence played a loving part in the lives of her grandchildren, Roberta Douglas, Rosemary MacEachen, Margaret Anne Wheaton, Michael Wheaton and Philip Wheaton. Also, her great grandchildren, Megan Sears, Stacy, Daniel and Chelsey Wheaton were fortunate to be an important part of her life.
Throughout her life, Florence played an active role in church activities. She was church organist at the United Baptist Churches in Middle Sackville, Upper Point de Bute and Midgic. She will be remembered for her musical contributions at many weddings, funerals and community events.
Florence and Wilfred enjoyed retirement winters in Florida for several years. She had a great interest in her extended family and in completing the Anderson family history that her mother had started. Her marshland home fascinated her and she enjoyed painting and photographing scenes and activities there. She will be missed.

The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, April 10, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Allan Griffin officiating. Burial in the Four Corners Cemetery in the spring.

Mabel Gertrude Ward
February 14, 1909 - April 25, 2001
The death of Mabel Ward, age 92, of Sackville occurred at the Drew Nursing Home on Wednesday, April 25, 2001.
Born in New Waterford, NS she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Isabella (Robertson) MacKay.
Mabel was a member of the Sackville United Church, the UCW and the Salvation Army Home League. She was a former employee of Mount Allison University.
She is survived by 2 sisters-in-law, Elsie and Gladys MacKay of New Glasgow, NS and by several nieces and nephews. Mabel was predeceased by her husband Percy, and being the last surviving member of her immediate family she was predeceased by sisters, Anna and Danella and brothers Edward, Dunbar and John W.
The remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (364-1300). The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Saturday, April 28, 2001 at 2 PM, Rev. Dr. Jamie Gripton officiating. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery. Friends and relatives are invited to a time of visitation to be held on Saturday from 1 PM until the time of the funeral.
