Hector Joseph Godin
Hector Joseph Godin, husband of Kathleen Godin of South Esk passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital ,Sunday morning at the age of 65.
Born in Beaverbrook ,he was the son of the late Joseph and Eva (Coyouette) Godin. Joseph was a self employed carpenter and attended St. Mary s Roman Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen; two daughters Kim Morrissey( Louis) of St.John, Roni-Sue Mullin( Kenny) of Edmonton ; four sons Joseph Jr.(Janice) of Edmonton, Louis (Leona) of Nelson , Camille (Heather) of Riverview , Willie (Myra) of Burnt Church ; two sisters Emelda Malley (Alvida ) of Miramichi, Geralda Benoit of Dalhousie ;four brothers Robert (Edna) of Miramichi, Peter (Geraldine ) of Beaverbrook, Edmond( Sherry) of Beaverbrook and Norman of Quebec and 13 grandchildren and a special friend Tydas Matchett and several nieces and nephews . He was predeceased by four brothers Emery, Pat, James and Gerald and one grandaughter Robyn Mullin.
The remains will be resting at Northumberland Funeral Home on Monday from 7-9 and on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Mary s R.C. Church Wednesday June 6,2001 at 2:30 pm with Father Joseph Arsenault officiating. Burial will be in the Church Cemetery.

Frank Garrish
Mr. Frank Garrish of South Esk passed away at Miramichi Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 22, 2001 at the age of 83.
Born in Quarryville he was a son of the late Caleb and (May Dickson) Garrish.
He was a veteran of World War 11 and served overseas with the 12th Field Regiment . He was an employee of McInnis in Toronto. He was a life member of the memorial lodge #652 F& AM Toronto, member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 and he was a councillor for the former Village of Douglastown.
He is survived by his wife Doreen (King) Garrish, two daughters; Brenda of St. Andrews, Sandra (Jack) Wentworth of St. Andrews, two sons Brent (Lori) of Toronto Ontario, Barry (Ginette) of Napan, stepmother Bertha Gerrish, four sisters; Esther Underwood of Douglasfield , Yvonne Jardine of Quarryville, Edith (Mel McKnight) of Massey Ontario, Stella (James Stewart) of Georgetown Ontario, four brothers Herb (Marie) of Toronto, Lawrence (Nancy) of Quarryville, Lindsay (Lois) of Miramichi, Glenn (Anna) of Quarryville, five grandchildren John, Bob, Brent, Frank and Blair and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers Joe and Ben and three sisters Janet ,Elsie, and Mildred.
The family will receive visitors at Northumberland Funeral Home ,102 Pleasant St. on Saturday March 24th,2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 and on Sunday March 25th,2001 from 2-4 and 7-9 .Funeral services will be held on Monday March 26th at 2pm at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jennifer Balls officiating. Burial will be later in the spring. Please note this will be a legion funeral. Donations to the diabetic association would be appreciated by the family. Frederick Angus Craig
Mr. Frederick Angus Craig of Lower Derby passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Thursday March 15, 2001 at the age of 85.
Born in St. Stephen's NB he was the son of the late Mark (Mildred White) Craig. He was retired from the St. John Hydro. He is survived by his wife Rosella (MacDonald), one daughter Katherine (James Mullin) of Shediac, four sons Bernard (Valerie) of Abbotsford BC, Donald at home, Frederick Jr. of Abbotsford BC, and Stephen of BC, three sisters; Mary of Saint John, Helen of Texas, and Shirley of Brantford, ON, one brother Edward (Rose Marie) of Halifax, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He was predeceased by two sisters; Edith and Pearl, four brothers Clifford, Allan, Mark and Bernard.
The family will receive visitors at his home 5217 Rte. 108 Lower Derby on Saturday evening March 17, 2001 and on Sunday March 18, 2001. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 19, 2001 at 11 am at the Lady of Good Council Roman Catholic Church in Millerton with Monsignor Joseph Woods officiating. Burial will be in Our Lady Of Good Council Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring.

Loretta Clancy
Loretta Clancy wife of Cecil Clancy and sister of the late Hubert Creamer of Derby Junction ,passed away March 20th,2001, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 93.
Born in Nelson she was the daughter of the late David and Mary Ann{McMahon} Creamer. She was a cook and homemaker.
She is survived by her husband Cecil and two sons Neil of Derby Junction and David of B.C,two sister -in- laws Inez Morneau of St. John and Stella Wood of Miramichi and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by six sisters Lena May,Susan{Dolly}Burns, Hebertha{Bertie}MacIntosh, Cecilia Buckinghen, Kathleen, Beatrice Connell and six brothers Hubert, Nicholas, Charles, Manuel, Lee and Hubert J.

Alma Marie Richard passed away at the Miramichi Regional Hospital on Thursday, March 15, 2001 at the age of 101.
Born on August 14, 1899 in Prince Edward Island, she was the daughter of the late Francois and Anne (Gaudet) Arsenault. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary Branch #38 of Rogersville. She is survived by two daughters Reina (Marcial Daigle) of Richiboucto, and Lillian of Rogersville and two sons; Lloyd (Orelie) of Robertsville and Norman (Colette) of Dartmouth, 12 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She is predeceased by her husband Pierre and two sons Lloyd and Francois.
The family will receive visitors at the Slumber Room in Rogersville on Friday March 16, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francois de Sales Roman Catholic Church on Sunday, March 17, 2001, at 11 am with Father Denis Belliveau officiating. William (Billy) Joseph McEvoy
William (Billy) Joseph McEvoy passed away on Friday March 16, 2001 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 69.
Born in Renous he was the son of the late Douglas (Clara Singleton) McEvoy. He was a diamond driller and carpenter. He was a Third Degree Knight of the Father Barry Council #7481 of the Knights of Columbus Renous.
He is survived by nieces and nephews Tom (Kathy) Hayes of Saint John, Vivian (Peter) Tucker of Miramichi, Cheryl (Michael) Buggie of Renous, Kenny Hayes of Windsor, ON, Burtis (Nancy) Hayes of Riverview, NB, Ronnie (Cynthia) Hayes of Renous and several great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother Burtis and a sister Analea.
The family will receive visitors at the Father Murdock Memorial Room in Renous on Saturday, March 17, 2001 from 7 to 9 and on Sunday March 18, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday March 19, 2001 at 2 pm at St. Bridgets Roman Catholic Church in Renous with Monseigner Joseph Woods officiating. Burial will be in St. Bridgets Roman Catholic Cemetery in the spring. At the request of the family donations to the cancer society or of the donors choice.

Gail was a homemaker and attended St. Mary s Roman Catholic Church in Miramichi. She was a past president of the Lioness Club. Besides her husband Lyman Hartery, she is survived by three daughters Colleen of South Esk., Karen Blackmore (William) of Connecticut U. S. A. and Jennifer Curtis (Robert) of Maple Glen; one son Jonathan at home; two sisters Betty Clancy (James) of Derby and Lynn McKay (James) of Quispamsis; and four grandchildren Lucas, Christopher, Rylan, and Kacey Gail.

Allan Edward Banks, of Miramichi passed away at his residence on Thursday morning at the age of 64. Born in Fredericton, Allan was the son of Mavis (Wade) Banks and the late Allan S. Banks. Allan was a millwright and was employed with U. P. M. Miramichi, until his retirement. Allan was retired member of C. E. P. Local 689. Besides his mother Mavis and wife Bernetta (O Toole) Banks, Allan is survived by four daughters Karen Howe (Doug) of Miramichi, Cathie Loggie (Lloyd) of Miramichi, Crystal of Halifax N. S., Treena of Riverview, four sons Darren (Lynda) of Riverview, Troy (Krista) of Miramichi, Wallace (Kim) of Fredericton and Timothy of Fredericton; three sisters Brenda Perry (Neville) of Woodstock, Bonnie Merriam of Fredericton, Carolee Flewelling (Terry) of Kentucky; one brother Dale (Marlene) of Fredericton; ten grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Besides his father Allan was predeceased by an infant sister.

In Moncton, NB, Rita Florence Ross passed away on November 21st, 2006 at the Moncton City Hospital with family close by her side. Born in Blackville in 1917, she was the daughter of the late James Underhill and the late Ellen (Stephens) Underhill. Rita was the last surviving member of her immediate family. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by three brothers, Roy, Burton and Hilton Underhill, her husband Harold (Hally) Ross and one granddaughter Angela. She was a long time member and Past President of the CWL, a member of Saint Raphael s Parish Council, as well as a dedicated volunteer with the Saint John Ambulance Brigade receiving the Priory vote of thanks and Most Venerable Order for volunteer services rendered. Rita is survived by two sons, Gilbert ( Jill ) of Halifax, Rodney (Debbie) of Blackville, five daughters, Carol Nesbit(Wayne) of St. John s Newfoundland, Judy Cavanaugh (Ron ), Bathurst, Ellen Underhill ( Daryl ) Moncton, Janice Ross of Saint John, Deborah Landau ( Peter ) of Fredericton, as well as 22 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She is survived by three daughters Paulette Warren (Byron), Evelyn Nash (James), Claudia Coughlan (Reginald) all of Doyles Brook; two sons Daniel (Dale) of Cambridge Ont., Paul of Elliot Lake Ont.; one sister Shirley Finney (Stan) of Fredericton; one brother Rev. Laurie Munn (Doris) of Fredericton; 32 grandchildren; 34 great grandchildren; nine step grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Daniel, she was predeceased by three sons Irvine Roy, Frederick, Beverley; two daughters Gloria and Shirley and five grandchildren.

Bernetta is survived by three daughters, Jenny Tozer (Herb) of Saint John, Mary Ross of Saint John, Florence McGraw (John) of Chatham Head Miramichi; two sons Mervin Jr. (Marie) of Saint John, William (Billy) of Miramichi; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, one great great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Mervin, she was predeceased by one daughter Theresa; two sisters, Veronica Doran, Genevieve Hachey; four brothers Carl, Joseph, Isaac, Charlie and one grandson John Ross.

Besides his wife Premilia (Vienneau) Clark, he is survived by three daughters Linda (Barry MacDonald) of Moncton, Joanne of Airdre, Alberta, and Karen of Montreal; one son James (Samantha Hines) of Calgary; five grandchildren Michael, Danielle, Andre, Julien and Willow; one great grandson Alex and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son Gary and two brothers Jack and Harris. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Father AA McKinnon Memorial Room in Blackville on Wednesday January 10, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and then on Thursday January 11, 2007 at Frenettes Funeral Home in Shediac from 2 to 3:45 with Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 4 pm. at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Shediac with Father Arthur Bourgeois officiating. She is survived by three daughters; Liona Underhill of Blackville, June Sullivan (Cameron) of Grey Rapids, and Rita MacDonald (Elmer) of Grey Rapids; eight sons, Leroy (Doris) of Blackville, Ronald (Cathy) of Blackville, John (Treva) of Grey Rapids, Hal (Edith) of Grey Rapids, Boyd (Lois)of Grey Rapids, Robert (Linda) of Moncton, Donald (Althea) of Winnipeg, and David (Mary) of Stanley; and one sister, Geraldine of Blackville. Besides her husband Loman, she was predeceased by two sisters, Beatrice Underhill and Lula Mountain; two brothers, Howard and Eldon; and one son-in-law, Gerald Underhill.

Miss Mamie Coughlan, of Blackville, passed away at the Miramichi Hospital on Sunday April 8, 2007 at the age of 77. Born in Blackville she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Sarah (Sturgeon) Coughlan. She was a teacher and taught at the Vocational School in Saint John N. B. She was a member of St. Andrews United Church in Blackville. Mamie is survived by one sister Margaret O Neil of Fredericton; one brother Robin (Ardyth) of Lakeville Corner N.B.; one brother in-law Robert Sturgeon; one sister-in-law Grace Coughlan and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by two sister s Myrna Coughlan and Pauline Sturgeon; three brothers Leland, Elgee, Aubrey and his wife Laura.

Carl Frank Watters

Watters Carl Frank of Miramichi, NB passed away on February 4th 2007 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Carl was born on January 16, 1936 in Stellerton, NS. He grew up in Westville, NS and upon leaving school worked at the Trenton Car Works and then attended the Industrial Training Center school in Halifax, NS where he completed training as an aircraft sheet metal technician. In 1954 Carl joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served for 23 years at bases in Germany and across Canada. Following his retirement from the Canadian Armed Forces Carl had a second career at Repap Pulp Paper as a journeyman metal worker. Throughout his life Carl participated in sports, especially football and hockey. He played junior hockey with the New Glasgow Rangers. While in the RCAF Carl was a member of numerous hockey teams an played throughout Europe and Canada. He dedicated himself to Armed Forces Hockey and led teams to Armed Forces Championship as a player/coach with the CFB Golden Hawks of Chatham, New Brunswick in 1969 and again with CFB Packers, of Cold Lake, Alberta in 1972.Carl was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed both hunting and fishing. For a brief period of time, Carl held the position of secretary/treasurer for the Miramichi Salmon Association. Carl is survived by his wife of 48 years Stephenie Watters of Miramichi, NB; and his family, Carl (Suzanne) Watters of Miramichi, NB and their daughter Kirsten; Susan (Gordon) Penner of Warman, Saskatchewan and their son Caleb and daughter Sarah; one sister Janet Fraser of Westville, NS; two brothers John Garfield (Anne) Watters of Westville, NB and Kenneth Robert (Shirley) Watters of Antigonish, NS. Carl was predeceased by his parents, John Patterson and Hazel Watters and one sister Jean Watters.

Born in Matthew Settlement, he was the son of the late Frederick and Mary (Matthews) Hamilton. He worked for North Shore Construction and attended Little Southwest Baptist Church in Silliker s. Freeman was a life time member of the Little Southwest Baptist Church, and a member of the North & South Esk Regional School Board and Northumberland County Assessors Board. He is survived by his wife Mary Jane (Travis);two sons Winfield (Faye) of Whitneyville and Fred (Barb) of Miramichi; one sister Nina McKibbon of Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home; one brother Blake (Vera) of Whitney; three grandchildren Paul, Kristy and Mari Anne and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four brothers Vernon, Lyman, Harold and Cecil and one brother-in- law Leo McKibbon.

Mr. Zorko Zigante of South Esk., passed away on Tuesday February 13, 2007 at the Miramichi Hospital at the age of 71. Born in Italy, he was the son of the late Victore and Antoinia (Cerneka) Zigante. He was a millwright and attended St. Mary s Roman Catholic Church in Miramichi. He is survived two daughters Nina Zigante (Greg Stewart) of South Esk, and Denise Michelle (Claude Connors) of Waasis; one brother Sylvanio (Anita) of Italy; two grandchildren Alexandra and Francesca and several nieces and nephews. Zorko was predeceased by two brothers Ivan and Bruno.

With sorrowful hearts we announce the death of our mother Margaret (Marg) Bowes which occurred at the Mount St. Joseph Nursing Home on Friday March 2, 2007at the age of 90. Born in Newcastle she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Regan) Richardson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. After raising her children, she was employed with Eaton s Catalogue Office and later at Whites Pharmacy in Miramichi until her retirement. She attended St. Mary s Roman Catholic Church in Miramichi and was a past president of the Columbian Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the C. W. L. She is survived by three daughters Mary Bowes Butler (Charles), Elva (Bob Hare) and Peggy (Donald Phillips) all of Miramichi; three sons George (Elsie) of Miramichi, Edward (Hilary) of Fredericton and Reginald of Miramichi; 17 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by one sister Peggy O`Kane and three brothers Joseph, George (Bunny) and Albert.

Michael Marsland Husband, Father, Grandpa and Great Grandpa It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mike Marsland, who passed away peacefully in the early morning Thursday March 29, 2007 at the Miramichi Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. His life and memory will continue to be celebrated by his large and loving family and his friends; his best friend and wife of 53 years, Ruth; daughters Kathleen (Ron) and Kimberly (Larry); sons, Andrew (Loraine), Scott (Heather) and Robert. Sixteen grandchildren and one great grandchild will also miss him. He will be reunited with his daughters Patricia and Debra. China Mike as he was known to many of his friends in Kingston, was retired from Correctional Services and had worked for many years at Kingston and Millhaven Penitentiaries. He retired from Renous Penitentiary in 1995. He was past president of Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 9 in Kingston, Ontario and was an active member of the Lion s Club and Royal Canadian Legion Branch #10 in Miramichi. At Mike s request, there will be no visitation. The memorial service will be celebrated at Northumberland Funeral Home Chapel at 10am on Saturday March 31, 2007. A reception will follow at the Lion s Den in Miramichi. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Palliative Care Unit or to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Born in Rogersville he was the son of the late Siffroid and Francoise (Bourgeois) Johnson. He was a woodsman and attended St. Francois de Sales R.C. Church. Antoine is survived by one sister Therese Jodoin of Montreal and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by three sisters Catherine, Marie Anne and Edmee and two brothers Francois and Gerard.

Joseph (Ti Pitt) Michael Duguay, of Nelson passed away at the Miramichi Hospital on Saturday March 31, 2007 at the age of 64. He was a woods worker and attended St. Patrick s Roman Catholic Church in Nelson. He was the son of the late Theophile and Margaret (Robichaud) Duguay. Besides his wife Rolande (Herbert), he is survived by one daughter Michelle (Raymond Saunders) of South Nelson; two sons Wallace (Daphne) of Renous and Tony (Cathy) of Miramichi; four sister Clara Connell of Sussex, Alice Beaulieu of Moncton, Joanne Young (Norman) of Upper Derby and Patsy of Halifax; one brother Arthur (Wilda) of Chatham Head; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son Gary.

Lucie Babin

The death of Lucie Babin, aged 97, occurred at Miramichi Regional Hospital on April 1, 2007. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Elzire (Roy) Boudreau of Petit Rocher. She is survived by one daughter Precille Dionne; half-sister Elzire and half-brother, Dorien; her grandchildren Martin (Andrew), Jacqueline Kippers (Steven), Matthew (Jeanette), Nicole Lagace (Richard), and Sean (Sarah), as well as great-grandchildren Aaron, Natasha, Renee, Dominik, Nicholas, Adrian, Joelle, Luke, Jamie and Malachi. She was predeceased by her husband Peter; her sisters Hectorine, Martha and Precille, and brothers Legere, Rheal, Adelard, Herbie, and Augustin as well as half-sisters Doris and Aline and half-brothers Leo and Victorin. Lucie met and married Peter in Charlo, where she spent her entire married life. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was renowned for her cooking, sewing and gardening. She even dabbled in carpentry and upholstery.

Susan Walls

Susan Marlene Walls of Fredericton, formerly of Blackville, passed away on Sunday April 8, 2007 at the Cardiac Unit of the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Blackville N.B. on September 11, 1953, she was the eldest daughter of Roland (Doad) Walls and the late Ida (Grady) Walls. She is survived by two sons, Noah and Matthew (Kristen) and their father Steven Whitenect; one sister Carla (Paul ) Brophy; one brother Randy (Joy) Walls and their children, Charity and Jonathan. She was a graduate of the N.B. Teachers College and the University of N.B. and later trained as an interior decorator and gemologist. Sue had a wide circle of friends and despite her health challenges, maintained her sense humour and zest for life and was always fun to be with. Following her recent heart surgery she voiced her renewed appreciation for the many blessings of family and friends. She was most proud of her beloved sons, Noah and Matthew.

Born in Tabusintac, she was the daughter of the late James W and Ella Mae (Hornibrook) Johnston. She was a member of St. Andrew s United Church, Order of the Eastern Star, a former member of the U. C. W. and she was the first president of the Tabusintac Senior Citizen s. She is survived by one sister Elva Avery (late Leonard) of Moncton; brothers Earl Johnston (Late Geraldine Beattie) of Tabusintac Arthur (late Vicki Badducke) of Lower Coverdale, N.B., James (Sandi) of B.C.; sister-in-law Dorothy (Smythe) Johnston; brothers-in-law Alfred Blake and Graydon Marshall and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Harold, Janet was predeceased by two brothers Harry and Winson; four sisters Emma MacKenzie (Ross), Violet (Cooper Knowles) Jackson, Agnes (Basil Ross) Marshall and Reta (Buddy MacDonald) Blake.

Mr. Edmund J. Lanteigne

Mr. Edmund Lanteigne passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Friday May 18, 2007 at the age of 69. Born in Nelson he was the son of the late Eli and Elizabeth (Comeau) Lanteigne. He worked for REPAP in Miramichi until his retirement. He was a member of C. E. P. local 689 and the Golden Age Club of Chatham Head. He attended The Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in Chatham Head. Besides his wife June (Blackmore), he is survived by one daughter April of Miramichi; three sons Todd (Diane) of B.C., David of Miramichi and Karl of B.C.; five sisters Leona Henry (Fred), Geraldine McIntyre, Libby Fallon, Doreen Lanteigne all of Miramichi and Stella MacDonald (Kenneth) of Toronto Ontario; three brothers Norman (Alice) of Toronto Ontario, Bobby (Charline) of Miramichi and Donald (Maureen) of Miramichi; two grandsons Bradley and Destin and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Rita and brother Jerry.

Mrs. Betty Forrest of Mount Saint Joseph Nursing Home passed away at the Miramichi Hospital on Monday May 7, 2007 at the age of 68. Born in Miramichi, she was the daughter of the late James and Ruby (Trevors) Murphy. She was a retired school teacher and attended St. James & St. John United Church in Miramichi. She is survived by two sons Kevin (Carol) of Miramichi and Gary (Leah Savage) of Miramichi; two sisters Mona Matthews(Fred) of Chatham and Jessie Howard of Chatham; two brothers Randall (Rita) of Lower Newcastle and Bobby (Margaret) of Chatham; four grandchildren Benjamin, Gillian, Joey and Lynn and several nieces and nephews. Betty was predeceased by her husband Everette and one sister Alta Greenough.

Besides Edward's wife Mable, Edward was predeceased by two sisters Bella Murray (Lorne) of Moncton, Roberta Matchett of Moncton and one brother Eldon Matchett (Annie) of Moncton.
