WILSON, Captain Milton LeRoy (Retired) CD passed away peacefully the morning of February 3, 2003 at the age of 78, surrounded by his loving wife of 48 years, Rachel and daughter Marie-Lise. WILSON, Daniel Harold It is with great sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Dan on Monday, February 3, 2003 at the age of 48. Dan was born in Vermilion, Alberta on November 27th, 1954 to Harold Carlton and Naomi Ruth Wilson and completed his junior and senior high schooling in Edson, Alberta following the death of his father. He is survived by his loving wife Deborah D.L. Wilson; brother Paul (Carmen) Wilson; half brothers Franklin (Irene) Wilson, Carlton Wilson, all of Calgary; half sisters Edith Sarin of Edson, Dorothy (Harold) Larsen, Dollye (Basil) Cooper of Grimshaw, Gladys (Charles) Stanley of Niles Mi. USA; a son Shane (Ronda) VanderKooi of Edson; daughter Sheena (friend Nathan) VanderKooi of Edson; father and mother-in-law Al and Joyce Hallgren of Eckville; step daughter Shannon (Jason) Sherriffs of Cremona; step son Jamie (friend Tasha) French, of Edmonton; sisters-in-law Donna (Harry) Thomas, Ruth Wilson; brothers-in-law Darrell (Jacqueline) Hallgren, Kelly Hallgren; sister-in-law Sandra Hallgren, Allen (Salina) Hallgren, all of Eckville; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Dan and Deborah moved to Wizard Lake in 1999 and quickly developed many friendships in the community. His friendly smile and always willing to help attitude will be sadly missed in the area. CABRAL, Maria Joanna passed away at the age of 89 years on April 16th, 2003. She was born on the Island of Sao Miguel, Azores, in the hamlet of Ginetes. CEPENDA, Marie On Thursday, April 17, 2003 Mrs. Marie Cependa of Vegreville, formerly of Vancouver, B.C., passed away at the age of 89 years. HAUG, Eldon Hicks On April 16, 2003 Eldon Haug of Edmonton passed away peacefully at the age of 94 years. Eldon is survived by his loving family including his wife of 57 years Hilda Irene (Harper), son Philip and daughter-in-law Lorna Thomas, grandchildren Alex and Cayley, sister Evelyn Wood of Fort Saint John, nephew Eldon (Lynda) Haug and numerous other relatives. HORRICKS, Alvin Russell Mr. Alvin Russell passed away in Phoenix, AZ, on February 23, 2003, two days after his 70th birthday. The son of Hazel and Henry Horricks, Alvin was born February 21, 1933 in Daysland, AB, and grew up in the Wetaskiwin area. He lived the majority of his work life in Edmonton and divided his time in his retirement between Stony Plain and Arizona. He will be missed by friends at his Yuma winter golf paradise, particularly Yvonne MacCubbin of Kamloops. At his summer home in Stony Plain he will be remembered by his cats, Smoky, Satan and Silver; good friend Joe Shennan; co-workers from Celanese Canada; his buddies on the golf course; and Gold Wing motorcycle enthusiasts. Alvin was predeceased by his wife Eunice in 1984 and is survived by siblings Deanna Tannas (Kelowna), Ferne Lentz (Tappen, BC) and Willard Horricks (Belleville); two children, Barbara (Victoria) and Russell (Edmonton); four grandchildren, Katherine, Sarah, Oscar and Ryan; several nieces and nephews; and many cousins. JAMISON, William Ernest (Ernie) February 27, 1924 - April 11, 2003 On April 11, 2003 Ernie Jamison of St. Albert passed away at the age of 79, with his family at his side. He is survived by his beloved wife Shirley; son Duff (Sandy); daughters Mary, and Sarah Kosloski (Todd); and grandchildren Evan and Ellery Jamison and Taylar Kosloski. He leaves his sister Audrey Joly (Frank) of Victoria; and brothers Spence (Betty), Jack (Dorothy) and Jim all of Edmonton and area. He was predeceased by his sister Doreen. Ernie is the former owner and publisher of the St. Albert Gazette and served as MLA for St. Albert between 1971 and 1979. He was hospitalized at the Cross Cancer Institute in August 2001, spent time at the Glenrose, Sturgeon and Grey Nuns hospitals and resided at the Dickensfield nursing home from June 2002 until his passing. The family extends its thanks to doctors, nurses and staff at all these facilities. Memorial Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 21 at the St. Albert United Church, 22 Green Grove Drive. JOHNSON, Gene With sadness the family announces the passing of Gene Johnson on April 15, 2003 at the age of 73 years. Gene is survived by his loving wife Isabel, his children Mona, Brian, Lloyd, Stan and their families, 12 Grandchildren, 9 Great-grandchildren, two sisters, Lil and Edna as well as two brothers Bob and Carl and sister-in-law Lois. Gene was born and raised in the Edmonton/Westlock area. He spent all his adult life working in the oilfield industry and made his home in Slave Lake and Widewater. His family and friends will sadly miss him. At Gene's request there will be no funeral or memorial service. MADILL, Eric Brian Unexpectedly, Eric B. Madill, husband of Linda (McCready) Madill passed away in Edmonton, Alberta on April 19, 2003. Born September 10, 1949 in Edmonton, Eric was the eldest son of Bert Madill and the late Florence Madill (Peterson). In addition to his father and his wife, Eric is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Greg Madill (Lorena) of Victoria B.C., Doug Madill (Melanie) of Edmonton, Bev Milton (Dave) of Edmonton and several nieces and nephews. PAHAL, William Ralph (Bill) "Gone To Be With His Beloved Wife, Evon" It is with great sadness that the family of William Ralph Pahal (Bill) announce his passing on April 25, 2003 at the age of 94 years. Bill passed away peacefully at St. Joseph's Hospital where he and Evon shared their last days together. PETERSON, Shirley (Pat) On April 23, 2003, one year to the day of her husband Bill's passing, our mother, Pat, joined him at peace, with her family at her side. She is once more with her husband of 58 years, the lonely days are over. Shirley Patricia Bird (Pat) was born September 12, 1925 in Winnipeg and grew up there and at Winnipeg Beach. She met and married Bill in 1944, and moved to his family farm in Nanton and was a helpmate to Bill for 20 years there. The family subsequently moved to Toronto for five years before returning to Alberta (Edmonton) in 1969. Pat was predeceased by her sister, Alice Weitman and leaves to mourn her passing Joyce (Buddy) Cawston, William (Bill) and Jeanette Bird, Fred Weitman, Loyal, Winnie and Dan Gilbert; numerous nieces and nephews and lifelong friends. She will be most dearly missed by her son, Thomas (Tom); daughter, Kathleen (Kathy) and John Holt and her grandsons, Shawn and Chris Holt. ROBERTS, John (Jack) 1921 - 2003 We are deeply saddened to announce the sudden death of Jack Roberts on Wednesday, April 23, 2003 at the age of 81. Jack is survived by his loving wife, Helen; son, Reginald (Elsie); daughter, Helen (Doug) Neil; his grandsons, Bradley Roberts (Joanna Cunsolo) and Cody Woitas; granddaughter, Stacey (Nick) Culo and great-granddaughter, Cassia; a brother, Bill (Barbara) Roberts and sister, Eva Gerdson, both of Truro, NS. Jack is also lovingly remembered by his stepchildren, Darlene Andrews, Dallas (Russ) McKeever and Dale (Daryl) Springer; eight step-grandchildren and nine step-great-grandchildren. To know Jack was to love him. There were no strangers in his life, only friends. Jack loved the outdoors, especially fishing and the time spent with family at Pigeon, Long and Candle Lakes. Jack worked for Hobbs Concrete in Edmonton for many years before venturing into gold mining in B.C. Jack and Helen then moved to Grande Prairie where he worked for Consolidated Concrete for ten years. They retired to Edmonton in 1985. A Service of Remembrance of Jack's life will be held Saturday, April 26, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Appel Funeral Home/Central Memorial Chapel, 10530 - 116 Street, Edmonton with Pastor Tim Posyluzny officiating. SANDOMIR, Harm Wilhelm On April 23rd, 2003 Harm W. Sandomir of Edmonton, Alberta and formerly of Hinton, Alberta passed away at the age of 86 years. Harm is survived by his three grandchildren, Stephanie Harris and her children, Casey, Darcy and Lance all of Dawson Creek, BC, Melisa Horner and Lori Horner of Edmonton, Alberta. He will also be missed by his extended family and friends in Germany and Canada. Harm was predeceased by his loving wife, Hilda in 1993, his sons, Wilhelm in 1963 and Martin in 1973, his daughter, Annhild in 1999 as well as his grandson, Erich in 1991. SCHMIDT, Grace Morva January 27, 1925 - April 25, 2003 Known to many as Peggy, she passed away as she lived, with strength and dignity. Peggy leaves to keep her memory alive, two daughters, Linda Morgan, Louise (Andy) Herrewynen; six grandchildren, Diane Mintram (Ken), David (Tammy) Morgan, Donna Krupa (Dean), Derrick Morgan (Tammy), Don (Debbie) Herrewynen, Tracy (Marty) Gunderson; 15 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, one brother, Raymond (Carol) Williams; niece, Cheryl (Bill) McCrachen, nephews, Roy (Diane) Lerohl and Doug (Loa) Deschamps. STEMPNICK, David Samuel Peacefully on April 23, 2003 David passed away. Left to mourn his passing are sons, Michael and Damian; mother, Rose; brothers, Gary (Joanne), Philip (Leslie); sister, Chris Mikolayenko (Vic) as well as numerous nieces, nephews and special friends and neighbours. He was predeceased by his father, Michael. Dave enjoyed fishing and outdoor recreational activities. He had a passion for classic cars and music. He took pride in his home and garden and mostly in being a good father to his two sons. In his travels through work for Shilling Optical, Dave leaves behind many good friends across Western Canada. She was predeceased by her husband, Herbert "Pete"; one daughter, Sandy; one son, Rodney; one grandchild, Kenny; one brother, Willy Schoenknecht.
