ZALISCHUK, Alexander born July 2, 1914, passed away peacefully May 1, 2004 at the age of 89. A Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Alexander's life will be held Thursday, May 6, 2004 at 10:30 am from All Saints Roman Catholic Church, 821 Fairfax St., Coquitlam, BC. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the BC Cancer Foundation in memory of Alexander.

Mona Roberta Gomm
1916 - 2004
GOMM, Mona passed away peacefully May 3rd, 2004 in Burnaby. She was predeceased by her husband Bill, brothers Garth, Allan and sister Ruth. Mona will be lovingly missed by her children, daughter Maureen; son Bill (Theresa); grandchildren Michael, Tracy (Scott), Mona, Bill (Debbie), Louis, and Declan; as well as six great-grandchildren; her brothers Walter (Vera), Tom (Norma); sister Shirley and many nieces and nephews. Mona was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1916, moving to the West Coast after marriage. Mona retired from Vancouver General Hospital in 1982 after 33 years as Supervisor in the Medical Record Dept. Her family values were extremely strong. She kept was current with the activities of her siblings, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, their friends, and her friend s lives. She was an independent woman with a very strong sense of honesty, fair play, and a good sense of humour. Mona was well liked by all whom she met in her long life. She made friends easily and was good at putting people at ease with her interest in them and their families. She loved to travel and always kept up with current events. Heartfelt thanks to : Royal City Manor, St. Michael s Centre, Drs. Payton & Lang for their many kindnesses. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, May 7, 2004 at Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, 3141 Shaughnessy St., Port Coquitlam. Rev. R. Mika - Celebrant.

Harris, Stanley Victor passed away on May 13, 2004 at 70 years of age. Predeceased by daughter Lesley Margret Harris. Loving and Missing him are wife Audree, son Scott, daughter-in-law Shelly, granddaughters Amanda, Samantha, and Jamie-Lee, and great grandson Isaac. Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 18th from Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam, B.C.

Friedrich Wilhelm Dornhecker
1933 - 2004
DORNHECKER, Friedrich Wilhelm, passed away peacefully in his home on May 17, 2004 after a valiant battle with cancer. Fred was born in Germany on January 13, 1933, and came to Canada in 1955. Survived by his wife and schatzi Chris, his brothers Theodor (Wilma) and Bernd (Gudrun); mother-in-law Thelma Mercier; sisters-in-law Sandy Starr (Bob), Eleanor Dufresne, Ginger Mitchell, Michelle Armstrong (Bill), Bonita Baranyi (Steve); brothers-in-law Buster Mercier (Myrna), Chuck Mercier (Paula); many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends. He is predeceased by his brother-in-law Thomas Mitchell. Fred was passionate about international soccer, NHL hockey, old movies, Spanish, gardening, oil painting, travel and music. He had an amazing recall for dates and events, and loved to ponder hours over an atlas or dictionary. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2004 at 10:00 am at Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers donations to The Prostrate Centre at Vancouver General Hospital, or to the Crossroads Hospice Society would be greatly appreciated.

Passed COLLINS, Barbara Jean - Born October 18, 1932 in Stettler, Alberta. away May 23, 2004 in New Westminster, Royal Columbian Hospital. Predeceased by parents Lillian and Frank Nourse; brothers, Clive, John, Clark, Preston; and infant sister Clara. Survived by husband of 51 years, Stephen; children, Sandra (Gregorio Lopez), Lorena (Dan O Grady), and Michael (Teresa); grandchildren Scott Cashman, Hannah and David Collins. Also by sisters and brothers, Verona Kanten, Sylvan Lake; Irene Strader, Harrop, BC; Roy Nourse, Calgary; Neil Nourse, Red Deer; Florence Duncan, Red Deer, Fred Nourse; Fay Byers, Calgary; Judy Roberts, Powell River. Barbara will be sadly missed by her many unofficial family members and close friends from Japan, England and throughout the world. She enjoyed flower gardening and had a keen appreciation of nature, especially bird watching and the simple things of life. Drop-in friends were always welcome at her kitchen table. A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 pm on May 28, 2004 at Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam. In lieu of flowers, donations to the YMCA Healthy Heart Program, 208 - 245 East Columbia St., New Westminster, BC V3L 3W4.

Colleen Tracy Desharnais
1946 - 2004
DESHARNAIS, Colleen (Gummy) passed away on May 25, 2004 at the age of 57. Predeceased by her husband Keith Hawthorne, mother Alice Foden, sisters Linda Dube & Pat Foden. Loving and missing her are her father Joseph Koren, daughters and sons-in-laws Tracy and Bob Jackson, Michelle and Mike Bergen, son and daughter-in-law Arthur and Tammy Desharnais and Paula, grandchildren Tyler, Chelsey, Derek, Zack, Kimberly, Hunter, Wade, Jaxon, Kennedy, Islay and many other family and friends. Gummy had the biggest heart of gold and will be lovingly remembered forever. Watch out Elvis! A Memorial service will be held Saturday June 5, 2004 from Burquitlam Funeral Home, 625 North Road, Coquitlam at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC Heart and Stroke Foundation.

MARR, Dorothy Emily, born July 2, 1915, passed away June 2, 2004. Predeceased by her devoted husband Kevin. Lovingly remembered by her nephew Bob (Carole) Mason; nieces Barbara (Bernie) Treasurer, Maureen (Ted) Farrell, and their families. At her request, there will be no service. Flowers gratefully declined.

ANDERSON, Hazel Burgess (nee Arthur) born in Lillooet, BC, passed away July 29, 2004 at Peace Arch Hospital, White Rock, BC. Predeceased by her husband Maurice and by her two brothers. She is survived by daughters, Caroline (Ross), Dorothy (Bob); sons, John (Kathy-Lynn), Dave (Janice); three granddaughters, Samantha, Julia, and Zoe; cousins, Susan (Ken) Jensen and Bill Gurd; and many loving relatives and friends. She was proud to be a member of the Daughters of the Nile. The family would like to thank the staff at Weatherby 1 Pavilion, PAH for their outstanding care and compassion. Funeral to be held at St. Stephen s Church, Burnaby, BC at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 3, 2004. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Violet Florence Evans
1905 - 2004
Evans, Violet F. died peacefully on July 31st, 2004 at the age of 99. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Jackie, son-in-law Jim and granddaughters Kristin and Kelsey. Her memory will also be cherished by her sister, Sister Margaret Johnson, now of Halifax, and by many other relatives and friends. The family is very grateful to Enid Baird and the many individuals at Royal City Manor in New Westminster who gave Violet wonderful care, friendship and stimulation. The funeral will be in Montreal on August 7.

Patricia O'Riordan
1927 - 2004

O RIORDAN, Patricia (nee Smyth) passed away peacefully on Saturday July 31st at Eagle Ridge Hospital. Patricia arrived from Kildaire, Ireland in 1959 to marry Con O Riordan and start a family in Northern BC. They moved to Port Moody in 1966 and have resided there since. Patricia s background was nursing and homecare. She was a caring and loving woman who volunteered her time in the community. Mainly with the Share Society and the Legion Ladies Auxiliary. Patricia leaves behind her husband, Con and her two sons, Christopher and Patrick. She also leaves her two beautiful granddaughters, Kyra and Kylie; as well as two grandsons, Jared and Keegan. Patricia cared for many people in her life and was especially close to Karen and Rebecca. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, August 6, 2004 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 828 Laval Square, Maillardville. Procession to follow for a graveside prayer at the Port Coquitlam Cemetery, 4150 Oxford Street, Port Coquitlam. A luncheon will be held in Patricia s honor at 1:00 pm at the Royal Canadian Legion #119, 2513 Clarke Street, Port Moody. All who knew Patricia are invited to share with her family.

Louise Marie Kidwell
1936 - 2004
Kidwell Louise Marie (n e Rebiff ). Born in St. Claude, Manitoba on May 7, 1936 (68 years of age), Louise passed away at home on August 1, 2004 after a courageous battle with cancer. She will be sadly missed by her loving husband Jerry; sons Brian (Valerie), Norman (Sharon), Keith, daughter Leanne (Jack), 8 grandchildren, sister Cecile Hammond (Bill), and many other relatives and friends. Her loyalty, compassion and friendship will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege of knowing her. Louise served her community in various capacities, with her many years of sacristy duties being especially dear to her. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Our Lady of Fatima Sanctuary / Sacristy Fund. Prayers will be held 7:00 pm, Wednesday, August 4th and funeral mass will be held on Thursday, August 5th at 10:30 am., both at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, 315 Walker St., Coquitlam with Father Patrick Tepoorten as celebrant.
