Henrietta (Etta) Boutilier, 88, of Seaview Manor, Glace Bay, a former resident of Maple Ave., Glace Bay, passed away December 27, 1998 at Seaview Manor.
Born in Glace Bay she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lila (Simmons) Kinslow. Etta was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church Glace Bay, a former employee of the General Hospital and the Post Record in Glace Bay. She was a member of the Army and Navy Ladies Auxiliary of Glace Bay.
Etta was survived by one son, Wilfred (Sue) Georgia, USA, four brothers, Harold, Glace Bay, Ernest, Port Morien, Tom and Russell, both of Ont. six sisters, Thelma Morgan, Kate MacDonald, both of Glace Bay, Phoebe Boudreau, L'Ardoise, Dollie Balcer, Florida, Nellie Harris, Kitchener Ont. and Hazel O'Neill, Ottawa; several nieces and nephews.
Etta was predeceased by husband Arthur Boutilier; one brother, Albert and one sister Mae Milley.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St. Glace Bay. Arrangements are incomplete at this time and will be announced at a later date.

72, Little Lorraine
Mary (Campbell) Burke, 72, of Little Lorraine passed away December 26, 1998 peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family, after a brief illness.
Born in Main-a-Dieu she was the daughter of the late Elias and Loretta (Lahey) Campbell.
Employed by Parks Canada until her retirement, she was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish, Main-a-Dieu.
She is survived by her husband, John Will; daughters, Sally (Mrs. David Bussey) Louisbourg Highway, Linda (Mrs. John MacDonald) Donna, Louisbourg, Loretta (Mrs. Mike Maloney), Sackville, N.S. and Jacqueline (Mrs. Stephen Rafuse), Cple Harbour; sons, John Wayne (Joan), Ormocto, N.B., Adrian (Marlene), Sydney, Chris (Trina), Catalone, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Catherine Blackwell, Priscilla (Mrs. Gordon Foster ), Nonie (Mrs. Frank Gibson), Lucy (Mrs. Pat Solazzo), Elizabeth (Mrs. Tom Campbell), Delores (Mrs. York Coles), Eileen (Mrs. Robert Lavin), Loretta (Mrs. John Parsons), Naisha (Mrs. Jack Richards), Patricia Ciacomini; brothers, Thomas (Martha), Elias (Charlotte) Aloysius (Betty) and Angus (Lilly).
She was predeceased by daughter, Bonita Germaine on January 26, 1998; and nine children in infancy; a sister, Philomena; and a brother, Victor.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Immaculate Conception Parish in Main-a-Dieu. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Peter Leblanc officiating, assisted by the Rev. Thomas Lathigee and Rev. Everett MacDow. Interment in the parish Cemetery. Under the direction of W.A. Chant Funeral Home.

Lorna Marcella Campbell, 65, of 3331 MacLeod Ave. New Waterford, passed away Saturday, December 26, 1998, in New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford she was the eldest daughter of the late Ronald and Violet (Burke) Morrison.
Survived by five sons, Wayne "Butch" (Avila) Brian, Angus (Glenda) all of New Waterford and Dwayne and Gerald (Belinda) both of Halifax; grandchildren, Kristopher, Alysia, Jason, Holly, Kimberly, Adam, Amanda, Brianna, and Nolan; sisters, Marie (Ossie) Marsman, Ann Campbell, both of Sydney, Colleen (George) of Dominion, three brothers, Arthur (Rose), Adrian (Neila) both of Sydney and Ronald (Rita) of New Waterford and an aunt, Theresa Marsman of Sydney and several nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her first husband, Angus Campbell; a daughter Ann and her second husband, Gerald Mugridge.
Visitation will be in the McLellan Brothers Funeral Home, 3183 Plummer Ave., New Waterford on Tuesday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in the St. Michael's Church, River Ryan, with Fr. Lester Marchand officiating. Burial in parish Cemetery.
Cora Beatrice Duchemin
91, Sydney
Cora Beatrice Duchemin, 91, a resident of the Cove Guest Home, Sydney, died Sunday, Dec. 27, 1998 at the home.
Born in Glace Bay, Nov. 29, 1907, she was the daughter of the late William and Amy (Frost) Derbyshire, England.
She was a member of First United Church, where she was a longtime member of the senior choir. She appeared in 20 Rotary shows starting in the 1950s. She was a longtime member and former president of the ladies division of Lingan Golf and Country Club.
She is survived by two sons, Richard (Trudy) and Robert (Susan), both of Sydney; four grandchildren, Rob and Leanne, Coralie and Gordon and four great-grandchildren, Cheryl, Christopher, Roy and Brooke.
She was predeceased by her husband, Roy D., in 1991, and sisters, Phyllis MacDonald and Clarissa Lawseth.
Visitation will be in Sydney Memorial Chapel today (Monday) from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Rev. Doug Pillsworth officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
No flowers by request. Memorials may be made to a charity of choice.
Mary (Adele) Isabella Horyl
81, Scotchtown
Mary (Adele) Isabella (Roach) Horyl, 81, of 5239 Union Highway, Scotchtown, died December 27, 1998, at the Northside General Hospital, North Sydney.
Born in Inverness, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Delphine (Poirier) Roach. She was a member of St. Michael's Church, River Ryan.
She is survived by her niece Tena (Roach) Leblanc, whom she thought of as a daughter; two brothers, Edgar (Margaret) and John (Cecelia), both of New Waterford.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Joseph, and daughter, Priscilla, in infancy; two brothers, Fosh and Willard, and a sister Elizabeth (Betty) Gale. She was also predeceased by brothers and sisters in infancy and childhood.
Visitation will take place on Monday and Tuesday at 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in St. Michael Church, River Ryan, with Fr. Lester Marchand officiating. Cremation will follow and burial will take place in St. Michael Cemetery, River Ryan.
Mary and her husband Joe were wonderful people and they will always be remembered and loved by many. Memories never die.
Sophia Theresa MacDonald

Sophia Theresa (Blanchard) MacDonald, 57, of 243 Bentinck St., formerly of Gardiner Mines, died Saturday, December 26, 1998, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born at New Waterford, she was the daughter of the late John Edward and Mary (Trainor) Blanchard. She was a former member of the of Mt. Carmel Parish, New Waterford. She was a member of the Crossroads Club and loved to travel. She was employed for several years at Crowells and prior to this she worked as a hairdresser.
She is survived by one daughter, Susan Dawn; two sons, Chad Edward and Kevin Louis; three sisters, Leona (Mrs. William Wareham), Helen, both of New Waterford, Bernadette (Mrs. Jack Shelton) California; two brothers, Pius (Helen), Halifax and Vernon, Toronto; one granddaughter, and by her special longtime friend John MacDonald, Gardiner Mines.
Predeceased by a brother, Vincent, and a sister Corrina.
The late Ms. MacDonald's visitation will be held at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday in Parkview Chapel. Interment will be in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
Donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or Cape Breton Palliative Care Society.

A. Elsie MacKay, 86, a former resident of 353 King Edward St., Glace Bay, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998 with her granddaughter, Tammy, by her side at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late John Leo and Christine (MacNeil) Delaney.
Elsie was a member of St. Anne's Church and a former employee at Dan Gillis' Market, Glace Bay.
She leaves to mourn her loss, one granddaughter Tammy MacKay and one great-grandson, Kelly Gerard, both of Glace Bay; two sisters, Josephine Delaney and Dorothy (Mrs. Phillip Farrell), both of Sydney.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Adrian MacKay, one son, Gerard and three brothers, Thomas, Eddie and Redmond.

John A. MacMillan, 81, of Breton Bay Nursing Home, formerly of Louisbourg passed away Friday, December 25, 1998 at Breton Bay, Sydney.
Born in New Boston, he was the son of the late Daniel and Flora (Burns) MacMillan. Employed by Devco until his retirement, he was also a member of the First United Church, Main, St. Louisbourg.
He is survived by a brother Burns, Louisbourg, and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three sisters, Rachael Munroe, Lexie MacLeod, and Margaret Kendall.
Visitation has taken place Sunday, December 27. Funeral services will take place today at 11 a.m. from the First United Church, Main St., Louisbourg with the Rev. Clayton Austin officiating. Burial in Loch End Cemetery, Catalone, under the direction of W.A. Chant Funeral Home.

Murdock Angus "Tud" MacQuarrie
79, New Waterford
Murdock Angus "Tud" MacQuarrie, 79, of Gillis Lane and a former resident of 354-9th Street, New Waterford died Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998 at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital.
Born in New Waterford, he was the son of the late Alex and Euphemia (Fraser) MacQuarrie. He was a member of Calvin United Church and also served as an elder of the church. He was a retired coal miner having worked in No. 12 and Lingan Collieries. He was an avid horse racing fan.
He is survived by his stepsister, Helen MacLeod of Dingwall and six nieces and nephews, Jim Furey, Benedict Furey, Murdock Furey, Noel (Mrs. Ray MacDonald), Darlene (Mrs. Mike Leblanc) and Pam (Mrs. Reid Taylor).
He was predeceased by one sister, Mary Furey, and one niece, Mrs. Joan (Furey) MacDonald.
Visitation took place Sunday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. today (Monday) in Calvin United Church. The body will be removed to the church at noon. Rev. Duncan E. Roach will officiate. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery, Scotchtown.
Ann Elizabeth Peori

Ann Elizabeth Peori, 76, of 1 Peori St., Dominion, passed away Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998 at the Glace Bay Health Care Centre.
Born in Reserve Mines, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Joseph and Elsie (Rose) MacLellan. Ann was a member of St. Eugenes Church, Dominion and in her younger years, she was a member of the CWL.
She is survived by her daughter, Debbie (Mrs. Kenneth Leon), Dominion; two sons, Dan (Carol), Dominion and Wayne, Vancouver, B.C. and five grandchildren.
Ann was predeceased by her husband, Ronald Peori, two sons, Ronald and Patrick, two brothers, Daniel and Angus and one sister, Rosie.
Visitation will take place Tuesday from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. in the V. J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. Funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Eugenes Church, Dominion with Fr. Jim Oliver officiating. Burial in the parish Cemetery.
