Lucile McWhorter Ferguson '18, La Jolla, Calif., Feb. 20. Survivors include her daughter, Jean Ferguson Preish '52.

Leonard Young '25, Pullman, Wash., March 7, 2001.Leonard was a retired administrator at Washington State University.

James Simon '28, Colorado Springs, Feb. 28. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Sargent Simon '28, and his brother, William Simon '31.

Margaret Killian Reid '31, Colorado Springs, Jan. 14. Margaret served on the board of the Colorado College Woman's Educational Society, and chaired the Faculty Wives Club in the 1950's. She was a member of the Fifty Year Club and served as its correspondence secretary from 1982-84. In 1993, Margaret received the Lloyd Worner Award from Colorado College for her dedication to the college. Her husband, J. Juan Reid '32, now deceased, was a longtime administrator at the college. Survivors include her sons, John '63 and Robert '59, her daughter, Judy Reid Finley '58, and her granddaughters, Karen Finley '87 and Laura Finley '89.

Earl Cochran '32, Colorado Springs, Feb. 26. Earl was a retired optometrist.

Margaret Rhoads Minor '32, Denver, Feb. 11.

David Bemmels '34, Ottawa, Kan., March 7. David was professor of physics and mathematics at Ottawa University until his retirement in 1979. He also served as department head during his entire career at OU in addition to serving as dean of the university from 1949 to 1968. Survivors include his wife, Esther Powers Bemmels '36.

Weltha Foster Heinz '34, Buena Vista, Colo., Aug. 21, 2001.

Helen Brady O'Donnell '35, Colorado Springs, Nov. 30. Helen was a registered nurse. Survivors include her sister-in-law, Jane Kimzey Brady '36. She was preceded in death by her brother, E. James Brady '36.

Gene Pelsor '35, Edmond, Okla., Nov. 17. Gene was a retired physicist. Survivors include his wife, Catherine, and his son, Thomas Pelsor '67.

Wilton Cogswell '36, Colorado Springs, Dec. 15. Wilton was a retired dentist. He was an avid supporter of the Colorado College hockey team and was one of nine founding members of the Pikes Peak Range Riders in 1949. Survivors include his wife, Hester Jane Butcher Cogswell '35, daughter, Sally Cogswell Foutch '68, granddaughter, Deborah Donner '83 and grandson, Wilton "Four" Cogswell '87.

Virginia Berger Fries '36, Colorado Springs, Jan. 13. Virginia retired after 20 years as a high school secretary. Survivors include her daughter, Frances Fries Scott '64. She was preceded in death by her sister, Lorena Berger '22, and her husband, Raymond Fries '33.

Joy Adams Niemi '36, Fort Bragg, Calif., Oct. 30.

James Ransom '37, Fort Collins, Colo., Oct. 20. James was a retired chiropractor. He was president of the Colorado Chiropractic Association and a member of the Colorado Board of Examiners. Survivors include his wife, Nancy Dugdale Ransom '38.

Mary Jo Sinton Skeels '37, Littleton, Colo., Dec. 22. Mary Jo retired from Englewood Public Schools after 30 years as a teacher. Survivors include her niece, Mari Ann Sinton '91. She was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas Sinton '55.

Beth Ritter Coons '39, Colorado Springs, Feb. 12. Beth was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Walter.

Barbara White Jones '40, Lacey, Wash., Dec. 15, 2000. Survivors include her husband, Dewitt Jones.

Ivan Stimits '41, Colorado Springs, Nov. 6. Ivan was a member of the Barnes Society at Colorado College.

Hugh Teason '42, Chandler, Ariz., Dec. 21. Hugh retired in 1974 after 18 years as the head of accounting and finance for Air Defense Command. He was also a professional musician and active in the Colorado Springs Lion's Club. Survivors include his wife, Jean, his cousin, Dorothy Teason Burke '41, his sister, Ruth Teason Bailey '43, his brother, Donald '51, and his sister-in-law, Ruth Phillips Teason '51. Hugh was preceded in death by his cousin, vRamona Teason '43.

James Johnson '43, Colorado Springs, Dec. 16. From 1946 to 1978, James was the owner of J's Motel and Restaurant. Survivors include his sister-in-law, Winifred Vessey Metzler '35.

Marilynn Meeker Bochte '44, Arcadia, Calif., Jan. 19. Marilynn was retired as president of Meeker Development Co. Survivors include her husband, Bill Bochte '50.

Jacqueline Lawson Conwill '44, Colorado Springs, Feb. 25. Jackie was an active member of the Fifty Year Club at Colorado College and belonged to the Friends of the Library, the Woman's Educational Society, and attended many of the Aficionado events. Her father, Prof. Jack Lawson, was director of publicity and a professor of journalism at Colorado College from 1926-48. Survivors include her nephew, Alan Bentson '74. She was preceded in death by her sister, Dorothy Lawson Bentson '38.

Doris Blasius Hicks '46, Naples, Fla., June 8, 2000. Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Barret Moxley '45, and her brother, Roger Blasius '51.

Joseph Landry '47, Lake Charles, La., Jan 2.

Richard "Dick" Graham '49, Littleton, Colo., Feb. 17. Dick was an attorney who was known for taking the toughest cases from Arapahoe County Department of Human Services. In 2000, Dick was honored by the Arapahoe County Bar Association for "Extraordinary service in the public interest." Survivors include his wife, Roberta, his brother, Hugh Graham '52, and his niece, Shannon Dillard Mitchell '80.

John "Jack" Sullivan '49, Oak Park, Ill., Nov. 21. In addition to his wife, Jeanne Wise Sullivan '52, and sister, Patricia Sullivan '50, Jack is also survived by six children and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Philip Sullivan '52.

Nancy Stroman Horace '51, Farmington, N.M., Nov. 14.

George Nichol '51, Pittsfield, Ill., Oct. 30, 2000. George was the originator and owner of Viking Engineering. Survivors include his wife, Patricia.

Ronald Schisler '56, Los Angeles, Calif., Sept. 29. Ronald spent 27 years at TRW as an infrared and sensor engineer. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Charlson Schisler '54.

Mary Ann Quillen Cortelyou '57, Dallas, Texas, April 1, 2001.

Neil Stillinger '57, Santa Fe, N.M., Nov. 11. Neil was an attorney.

Edwin Sneider '58, Phoenix, Ariz., Aug. 20, 2001.

Alice Bost '60, Los Angeles, Calif., Dec. 26, 2000. Alice was a physics lab technician/instructor at Los Angeles Trade Technical College.

Arvy Kysely '63, Colorado Springs, Jan. 25. Following a 23-year Air Force career, Arvy served as an intelligence officer at Ent Air Force Base and as a civil engineer at Ft. Carson and the Air Force Academy until his retirement in 1987. Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth "Betsy" Coxe Kysely '55.

Sheila Wears Volkman '65, Colorado Springs, Feb. 7. Sheila was a professional singer and also taught at School District 11 in Colorado Springs. Survivors include her husband, E. Russell.

Eric Petersen '73, Colorado Springs, Oct. 29. Eric was founder and owner of Santa Fe Studios.

David Rooney '85, Monte Vista, Colo., Feb. 6, in a skiing accident. David was an attorney. He was a member of the Rotary Club, the Colorado Bar Association and the San Luis Valley Pro Bono Project. He enjoyed skiing, rock climbing, hiking and bicycling. David is survived by his wife, Karla, and their three children.

John L. Knight, Jr. '90, Vail, Colo., Nov. 24, of complications from diabetes. John was preceded in death by his father, John L. Knight '58.

Gordon Aamoth Jr. '92, New York, Sept. 11. Gordon was an investment banker for Sandler O'Neill in the World Trade Center. Survivors include his parents, Gordon '62 and Mary Aamoth.

Michael Scott Billingsley '92, Littleton, Colo., March 25, of an apparent heart attack. Scott was working as a legislative director in the office of Congressman Tom Tancredo (R-CO). He was active in Republican party politics and was a member of the Federalist Society. Scott was an avid sportsman and athlete, and volunteered at the downhill events at the Salt Lake City Olympics. In addition to his parents, Michael and Diane, Scott is also survived by his grandfather, Audell Billingsley '51.

FRIENDS

Chris Langlois, Colorado Springs, April 11, after a lengthy illness. Chris served for many years as director of advancement services in the Development Office at Colorado College. Among the many things Chris will be remembered for was her deep compassion and her devastatingly funny wit. Survivors include her husband, Steve Langlois, shipping coordinator at the Colorado College Bookstore.

Hon. John A. Love, former Colorado governor, died Jan. 21. He was 86. Love received an honorary degree from Colorado College in 1964. Survivors include his son, Andrew Love '67, and grandson, Scott Love '90. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ann Daniels Love '36.

Jocelyn Sandberg, operations manager and radio personality on the college's National Public Radio affiliate station, was the victim of a campus homicide on April 26, 2002. She was 41. At KRColorado College, Sandberg tutored dozens of volunteers, including students. She also worked at Poor Richard's, a popular Colorado College-area restaurant where she developed an award-winning pizza crust recipe. In addition to her parents, Harley and Evalyn Sandberg of Salt Lake City, she is survived by eight brothers and sisters.
