John F. Kurie 34, Clover, S.C., March 11. John was vice-president of the M&M Mars Candy Corporation and an executive with Look Magazine and the Association of National Advertisers. In retirement, he acquired the Mecklenburg Times in Charlotte, N.C., and remained publisher until his death. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles 35. Dr. Robert W. Rasor 35, Colorado Springs, Dec. 27. At Colorado College, he was a member of Phi Gamma Delta. He graduated from the University of Colorado School of Medicine, trained in psychiatry, and practiced for 65 years. He is survived by his wife, Celia; children, Amy Rasor Blackwell 66, Robert Jr., Sue Nalapa, and Sally Phelan; cousin, Nancy Schlosser 49; and six grandchildren. More than 20 of his relatives have attended, graduated from, or taught at Colorado College; someone from his family has been on campus all but two decades of the past century. Bob and Celia have been active in Colorado Colleges Fifty Year Club and Friends of the Library, and have been hosts in the Adopt-a-Student program for out-of-state students.

Harold Keith Blubach 36, Colorado Springs, Jan. 27. Keith was a postal supervisor in Colorado Springs for 30 years. He is survived by two children, Victor and Leticia, and two grandchildren.
Hobart M. Corning Jr. 37, Golden, Colo., March 8. Hobart worked for Mountain Bell, entered the Navy as an officer, received a Purple Heart, and returned to Mountain Bell, where he worked until he retired. He loved horses and the West, gardening, volunteering, writing poetry, and working for his church. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn; a daughter, Holly; and a son, Hobart. He was preceded in death by his sister, Catherine Corning Packard 36.

George M. Boyden 41, Albuquerque, N.M., March 11. He studied pre-medicine at Colorado College while playing on Colorado Colleges first hockey team, then earned a medical degree at the University of Colorado. He served in the Navy and Naval Reserve for more than 20 years, including tours of duty in China and Japan. He opened a private practice, then served as assistant dean of the University of New Mexico School of Medicine and was medical director at First Presbyterian Hospital in Albuquerque until he retired in 1983. He is survived by his wife, Dona Lawhead Boyden 43; children, Barbara Boyden Walters 69, George Boyden, Ann Smith, and Tom Boyden; sister, Elinore Boyden Brewer 45; brother, James 47; nephews, David Brewer 68 and Mark Boyden 73; and seven grandchildren. George and Dona were active in the Colorado College alumni club in Albuquerque.

William C. Killerlain 46, Colorado Springs, March 17. Bill served in the European Theater in World War II, was wounded in action, and later worked as a civil servant. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, and is survived by his daughters, Gail Levinson, Eleanor Cooper, and Cynthia Murphy.
Harry E. Missildine 46, Moscow, Idaho, Dec. 23. Harry was a sports columnist for Eastern Washington state newspapers for 25 years, and had been news editor of the Spokane Chronicle and sports editor of the Spokesman-Review. He served in Iceland for the Army Air Corps in World War II, and in the Washington National Guard during the Korean War. A former golf pro, he played to a seven handicap at age 83. He is survived by his wife, Helen, and his daughter, Joanna.

Charles D. Hawley 54, Bethesda, Md., March 26. After earning a law degree at Harvard University, Charles was an officer in the Navys Judge Advocate Generals office, a lieutenant commander in the Naval Reserves, and later an assistant general counsel for the United States Postal Service. He taught law at the University of Idaho and Case Western Reserve. With professors Earl Juhas and Albert Seay, he composed Colorado Colleges alma mater, O Colorado College Fair. Fritz Friant 60, Gloucester, Va., Dec. 21. Fritz served in the Army for 26 years in locations including Okinawa, Thailand, Vietnam, and Brazil. He retired as a colonel, and purchased a commercial printing company, where he worked until his death. He was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Gailon, and two sons.

Gabriel E. Pando 92, Fort Collins, Colo., March 25. After graduating from Colorado College, Gabe earned a masters degree in mechanical engineering at Colorado State University. He co-founded software company IntegWare, a software consulting company that was named by Deloitte and Touche as one of the Fast 50 in 1998 for fast growth. He was diagnosed with ALS in 1999, and began converting some of the profits from that firm to fund an endowed scholarship for four Latino students each year at Colorado College. He is survived by his wife, Abby Balfany; parents, Edward and Carmen; and a brother, Matthew.

Rosalie Yerkes Figge, Timonium, Md., April 10. Rosalie established a fund to support undergraduate biology research at Colorado College. Rosalies interest in biology was sparked by managing a colony of 10,000 lab mice while her husband Frank chaired the anatomy department of the University of Maryland Medical School. She later became a nationally known iris grower; one of her protιgιs named a deep-violet iris in her honor. She was preceded in death by her husband, and a son. She is survived by two daughters, RosalieAnn Figge Beasley and Barbara Figge Fox, and seven grandchildren.
