John Ferguson Bennett, March 2, 2010, in Colorado Springs. John, 98, served in the Army during World War II and practiced law in Colorado Springs. He was involved in numerous organizations, including the NAACP, the North End Volunteer Fire Department, KCME radio, the Pioneers Museum, and was chairman of El Paso County Democratic Party. He was predeceased by his wife, Edna Mae, and survived by his brother, Bruce Bennett 42, and two sons, Gael and Hugh of Colorado Springs.

Elizabeth Betty Hollingsworth Glover, Feb. 16, 2010, in Newton, Kan. Betty was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority at Colorado College. She was married for 63 years to Richard Dick Glover 44, who preceded her in death. Every summer, they gathered in Green Mountain Falls, Colo., for a reunion with their Colorado College friends. Betty is survived by five children, Nancy Craig, Meg Henderson 72, and her husband Bruce Henderson 72, Mary Beck, Rick Glover, and Jim Glover. Survivors also include 13 grandchildren, including Scott Craig 95, and his wife Erika Williams 93; and six great-grandchildren.

Anne Calvert Cross, April 20, 2010, in Colorado Springs. After attending Colorado College, Anne worked as assistant to the registrar and assistant to Professor Fred Sondermann. She was helpful in the early days of the Tutt Alumni House in securing donations of furnishings. Anne and her husband, Marshall, bought a bookstore in 1949 and ran it as Their Book Shop until 1959. She later worked at Chinook Bookshop for 18 years. Anne helped establish the docent program at the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center and was instrumental in the 1961 founding of the Colorado Springs School for Girls. Survivors include family members Patricia Taylor Duque 87, Martha Duque MacEachern 85, Gabriel Duque 87, Marilyn Marksheffel Duque 53, and Emma Adams 27. She was preceded in death by her brother, William Marksheffel Calvert 44, and cousin Claude Marksheffel Adams 44.

Patricia Ann Pfeiffer, March 3, 2010, in Colorado Springs, Colo. Pat grew up in St. Joseph, Mo., and as a political activist was an early supporter of the Equal Rights Amendment and Planned Parenthood. She published numerous articles on travel and history and wrote a seminal book on the history of skiing. She was featured in a PBS documentary as an author and worked as historian for the Colorado Ski Museum. Pat was married to Bill Pfeiffer 49, who preceded her in death, for 55 years. The couple had four children, who survive: Jan Hiland of Gypsum, Colo.; Robert Pfeiffer of Parker, Colo; Kristi Pfeiffer Peck of Colorado Springs, Colo.; and Erich Pfeiffer of San Francisco, Calif. She also had 10 grandchildren.

Lewis Brill Peters, Jr., Jan. 31, 2010, in Tulsa, Okla. A retired petroleum geologist, Lewis was married for 58 years to Patricia Stewart Peters 46, who survives. Patricia has moved to Manhattan, Kan., to be near their daughter, Connie Peters Cattell 77, and her husband, Eric Cattell 77.

Don Manzelli, June 14, 2010, in Woburn, Mass. In his late teens, after two years in the U.S. Army, where he was a sergeant and member of the Army Ground Forces Band in Washington, D.C., Don attended Brown University and then transferred to Colorado College. While earning a B.S. in engineering, he developed a deep appreciation for and commitment to the college, which will continue long after his passing. Over the years Don created countless structures all over Massachusetts winning many awards and accolades. His design/construction business began in the 1960s in Arlington and moved to Woburn in the 1970s. Don immersed himself in all aspects of the community by joining the Chamber of Commerce, the Woburn Business Association, the Woburn Redevelopment Authority, the Lions Club, and the Winchester Hospital. In his later years, Don expended endless energy and enthusiasm for many charities including The North Suburban YMCA, The Woburn Library Association, and the Council for Social Concerns. Don was a private pilot, traveled extensively throughout his life, and was an avid fan of jazz, classical, opera, and musical theater. Don is survived by his three adult children Doug, Marta 79, and Jeff 89; their mother Janet Getchell Manzelli; his granddaughter, Alisa; and many loving friends and family members.
