Gertrude Klein Saxtorph '23, Denver, Oct. 13.

Glenn McLaughlin '25, Washington, D.C., June 28. He received an honorary degree from Colorado College in 1961 and served as a class agent from 1974-86. Survivors include his daughter, Joann McLaughlin '58 and niece, Dorothy Emmerson '60.

Gertrude Hamilton Cunningham '28, Colorado Springs, Oct. 14. She taught for 38 years in Colorado Springs School District 11 before retiring in 1967.

Ruth Ratner Matthews '32, Colorado Springs, Aug. 10.

Henry Wershing '33, Sun City, Ariz., March 11, 1997. Survivors include his wife, Marian.

Ruth Laughlin Peters '34, Camino, Calif., June 8.

John Sims '35, Colorado Springs, Oct. 18. He was a retired physician. Survivors include his brother, Robert Sims '36.

Eugene Franklie '36, Littleton, Colo., July 30. He is survived by his wife, Ruth.

Elynor Galloway '37, Mancos, Colo., July 14.

James Roberts '37, Denver, Jan. 29, 1997.

Berta Trotter Sherwood '37, Racine, Wisc., Sept. 3. She was a well-renowned artist throughout the midwest and received many awards for her talent. Survivors include her sister, Patricia Trotter Jackson '45.

Dorothy Lawson Bentson '38, Lakewood, Colo., Aug. 8. Survivors include her sister, Jacqueline Lawson Conwill '44, her son, Alan Bentson '74, and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Leech Bentson '76.

Beth Gleason Arthur '41, Denver, Feb. 22, 1996. Survivors include her husband, L.J.

Robert Chapman '42, Turlock, Calif., May 3, 1997. Survivors include his brother, Ronald Chapman '37.

Robert Loffler '42, Flagstaff, Ariz., July 30. Survivors include his wife, Dorothy.

Harry Scurr '47, Salt Lake City, Sept. 25. He was active in the Lions Club, chairman of the Urban League, served as a Colorado Springs councilman and vice-mayor. Survivors include his first wife, Suzanne Anderson '50.

Helen Stevenson Meyner '50, Fort Myers, Fla., Nov. 2. She received an honorary degree from Colorado College in 1973 and served as a charter trustee from 1983-89. She was a former governor of New Jersey and served two terms as a member of the U.S. Congress from 1974-78. Her husband, former governor of New Jersey, Robert Meyner, preceded her in death.

Patricia Crossin Anderson '61, Redding, Calif., Oct. 30. She was a city council member for several years in Redding, and at the time of her passing, held the position of mayor. Survivors include her husband, Conrad.

Gary Gappert '61, Akron, Ohio, Nov. 8. He was the director of the University of Akron's Institute for Future Studies and Research and professor of public administration and urban studies. Survivors include his wife, Mary Ellen, and his brother, Bill Gappert '59. Anyone wishing to donate to a scholarship in his memory may contact the University of Akron.

Charles Meece '61, Fort Morgan, Colo., Aug. 6. He was an insurance executive. Survivors include his wife, Margaret.

Ray Wilbur '64, Palo Alto, Calif., March 23, 1997, of leukemia. He was a property manager. Survivors include his wife, Anne.

Hank Wilmer '67, Highland Park, Ill., Oct. 24, in a car accident. He was self-employed. Survivors include his wife, Lynn.

Lee Beckner Strouse '82, Edgewood, N.M., July 25, of cancer. Survivors include her husband, Alan, and their children, Adam and Stacie.

FRIENDS

Walter Robert Brossman, Colorado Springs, Nov. 10. He served at Colorado College's first vice president of development from 1956-1981. Packard Hall, Armstrong Hall and Tutt Library were all built on the fruits of his labor. Survivors include his son, Robert Brossman '83, daughter, Beth Brossman Hollowell '86. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Ann Brossman'81.

Dorothy Printup Bryson, Colorado Springs, June 7. A longtime Colorado College instructor and community activist, Dorothy began teaching Latin and Greek in 1921. She was head resident of both Montgomery and McGregor Halls, on the staff of the dean of women, executive secretary of summer session, and member and past president of the Woman's Educational Society, an organization she was voted an honorary life member of in 1977. She received an honorary doctorate of humane letters from Colorado College in 1989. She was preceded in death by Archer Butler Hulbert, chairman of Colorado College's history department and a Western Americana scholar, whom she married in 1923. Colorado College honored the two for their work together by establishing the Archer Butler Hulbert School of Southwestern Studies on campus. Her third husband was A. Earl Bryson '11. Survivors include her step-daughters, Marian Hulbert Parks '24 and Nancy Bryson Schlosser '49, a Colorado College trustee; daughters Nancy Hulbert Olson and Joanne Hulbert Yeager and her husband, Robert W. Yeager '58; granddaughters Jeanne Parks Werrell '60 and Helen Powell '64; and great-grandson, Ashton Powell '00. She was preceded in death by her step-daughter, Katharine Hulbert '31.
