John Herbert Hampton
John Herbert Hampton, 89, died Thursday, Dec. 11, at the
Montrose Memorial Hospital in Montrose.
He was born in Los Angeles on Jan. 8, 1914, the son of
Milton F. and Anna (Silva) Hampton. He spent his childhood
years, received his education and grew to adulthood in
Calusa, Calif. Hampton was proud to serve his country in the
United States Navy during World War II.
He was united in marriage with the love of his life, Lucille A.
Donner, on July 20, 1946. The couple had the privilege of
celebrating their 57th wedding anniversary this year in July.
Hampton worked as an electrician foreman at Climax
Molybdenum Company from 1946 to 1973. During his
working years, Hampton and his family lived in Climax and in
Leadville.
When they retired, they moved to Homeland, Calif. The
couple then moved to Olathe, Colo., in 1989, where they
made their home until the time of his death.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge.
Hampton especially loved and delighted in his family. He
greatly enjoyed fixing mechanical problems, gardening,
bowling, fishing and boating.
Hampton is survived by his wife, Lucille, in Olathe; two sons,
John Dennis (Ellen) Hampton of Dillsburg, Penn., and Jack
(Marilyn) Hampton of Fallbrook, Calif.; two daughters,
Joanne (Brad) Seaman of Worland, Wyo., and Pamela (Bud)
Keane of Juneau, Alaska; as well as numerous grandchildren
and great grandchildren.
Hampton was preceded in death by both of his parents.
Memorial services were held Monday, Dec. 15, in Montrose,
Colo.
Arrangements were handled by Crippen Funeral Home and
Crematory of Montrose.

Mary Lou (McCartney) Nadon
Mary Lou (McCartney) Nadon, 72, died in her Northglenn
home on Dec. 14.
She was a 1953 graduate of St. Luke’s School of Nursing.
She then earned a bachelor of science degree in 1955 from
Denver University.
She is survived by her husband, Albert C. Nadon; her
children, Margaret (Dan) Meier, Ann (Herman) Kanter,
Michael (Kerry) Nadon, James (Melissa) Nadon, Nancy
(Michael) Burke and Patricia Nadon. She is also survived by
nine grandchildren.
Memorial Mass is Thursday, Dec. 18, at 11 a.m., at Holy
Cross Catholic Church, 9371 Wigham St. Interment is at St.
Joseph Cemetery in Leadville.
Memorial remembrances are suggested to Colorado Public
Radio, 2249 S. Josephine, Denver, 80210, note of donation
to Mary Lou Nadon; or to Hospice of Metro Denver, 425 S.
Cherry St., Suite 700, Denver, 80246-1234.

Marie Kirkpatrick
Former Leadville resident Marie Kirkpatrick, 76, of Pecos,
N.M., died Dec. 16, 2003.
Kirkpatrick was born on Feb. 11, 1927, in Salida to Harry
and Margery Noble.
She was a teacher at the Pecos schools for many years, and
then a receptionist for the Pecos Ranger Station.
After her husband’s death in 2000, Kirkpatrick moved to
Chama, N.M., where she substituted part-time at the local
school. She was also a member of Alpha Chi Omega.
She was preceded in death by her brother Joe Noble; and
husband Jay Kirkpatrick.
Kirkpatrick is survived by her son R.J. (Lisa and daughter,
Tess), Corralles, N.M.; daughter Jennie, Santa Fe, N.M.; son
Jeff (Felicia and sons Austin and Jeff Cole, and daughter
Haley), Las Cruces, N.M.; and brother Harry Noble, Ontario,
Calif.
Per Kirkpatrick’s request, there will be no memorial services.
Her ashes will be scattered along the Frying Pan River in
Leadville.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to
Heart and Soul Animal Sanctuary, 369 Montezuma Ave,
#130, Santa Fe, NM, 87501-2626.
Cards may be mailed to P.O. Box 23754, Santa Fe, NM
87502.
Arrangements are under the direction of Berardinelli Family
Funeral Service of Santa Fe.
