Howard John Seter
Howard John Seter, 82, died July 20, 2004, at Community Hospital in Grand Junction.
Seter was born on Oct. 20, 1921, in Bottineau, N. D., to Carl and Mina (Bakkom) Seter. He spent his childhood in Bottineau and graduated from high school in Carbury, N.D.
Seter served in the Army Air Corps during WW II.
In 1951, Seter moved from North Dakota to Leadville, working at Climax Mine until retiring in 1982; he moved to Grand Junction in 2003.
Prior to moving to Grand Junction, he was an active member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Leadville. In Grand Junction, he was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Messiah.
Seter was an avid rock hound, enjoyed visiting people in nursing homes and hospitals, loved hiking in his earlier years, and enjoyed being in the railroad club. He will be remembered for his zany sense of humor.
He is survived by his brothers Vernon Seter; Gordon Seter; Clair Seter; Calvin Seter; and Art Seter; sisters Gretchen Wick; Shirley Johnson; Marcia Foss; and Margaret Budd; and numerous nieces and nephews
Visitation was July 25 at Callahan Edfast Mortuary with services July 26 at the Lutheran Church of the Messiah; Reverend Gary Buss officiated. Cremation followed and inurnment took place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Leadville.

Elizabeth Marie Diedrich
Elizabeth Marie Diedrich, 74, died Jan. 21 at Presbyterian/St.
Lukes Hospital in Denver.
She was born in Leadville on May 1, 1929, to Norman and
Anna (McCarten) McEachern.
“Beth,” as she was known, went to school in Leadville, first at
St. Mary’s and then Leadville High School. After graduation,
she became a telephone operator.
On June 13, 1953, she married Kenneth E. Diedrich in Raton,
N.M., and together they had three children.
Being a homemaker became her full-time profession and she
took great pride in caring for her husband and family. In
fact, one could say, “She spoiled them all rotten!” Diedrich
loved to cook and bake, spending many wonderful hours in
her kitchen making mouthwatering pies, cakes, bread and
candy. She also enjoyed reading and sewing in her
spare.time.
Diedrich was preceded in death by her parents; husband
Kenneth, who died this past December; sister Margie
Garland; and brothers Norman and Frank McEachern.
She is survived by her daughter Jean (Richard) Bretz,
Wallace, Kan.; sons, Paul (Gigi) Diedrich, Leadville; and Kurt
(Teresa) Diedrich, Azle, Texas; and grandchildren Kelby and
Kury Cox and Blake, Warren and Kaler Bretz.
According to her wishes, Diedrich was cremated and a
memorial service was held on Jan. 23 at Annunciation
Catholic Church. Father Jay Jung officiated and Joan Dawson
sang accompanied by Jean Elliott. Honorary pallbearers were
her grandsons Blake, Warren,Kaler, Kelby and Kury.
Following the services, the family received friends at the
Leadville Elks Lodge.

Lorraine Theresa Rusch
Lorraine Theresa Rusch, 42, died Jan. 16 at the Palisades
Living Center in Palisade, Colo.
She was born in Leadville on Oct. 19, 1961, to Eldon E. and
Shirley (Stalcar) Rusch.
After attending school in Leadville, Rusch worked as a
waitress in several local restaurants before moving to Grand
Junction for health reasons in 1995.
She loved various types of needlework (such as cross stitch
and needlepoint), painting by numbers, watching videos,
listening to music and fishing.
Rusch was preceded in death by her son Michael John
Tekansik, who died in 1988; father Eldon, who died in 1999;
grandparents; great grandparents; and several aunts and
uncles.
Rusch is survived by her sons Toby Tekansik, Leadville; and
Daniel (Stacey) Tekansik, Greeley; mother Shirley Rusch,
Leadville; brothers Randy and Elgin Rusch, both in Leadville;
and granddaughter Alexiss McElwain, Greeley.
The Rosary was recited by Lilly Vigil on Jan. 19 and Mass of
Christian Burial on Jan. 20, both at St Joseph Catholic
Church in Leadville. Father Jay Jung officiated and Joan
Dawson sang, accompanied by Beverly Pologar.
Rusch was laid to rest next to her grandparents in St. Joseph
Cemetery. Pallbearers were Toby and Daniel Tekansik and
Randy and Elgin Rusch.
Arrangements were handled by Bailey Funeral Home.
Hildur Leona McDonald
Hildur Leona McDonald, 96, died Feb. 17 in the Extended
Care Unit of St. Vincent General Hospital in Leadville.
She was born in Leadville on Aug. 3, 1907, to Andrew and
Anna (Johnson) Anderson.
McDonald went to school in Leadville and graduated from
Leadville High School. She later became a secretary for the
school district and also worked as a bookkeeper for
Cummings Brothers Grocery Store in Leadville.
On Oct. 22, 1936, she married Robert R. McDonald at
Annunciation Catholic Church in Leadville.
The McDonalds loved to dance and spent most Saturday
evenings at the Elks Lodge doing just that. She was an
accomplished seamstress and, in her younger years, made
most of her own clothes. She took great pride in her
appearance and dressed impeccably.
McDonald was preceded in death by her parents; husband
Robert, who died in 1995; infant son Robert Russell, who
died in 1938 at just two weeks old; and several siblings.
She is survived by nieces Kathy (Jim) Davis, Lakewood;
Janet (Richard) Vaughn, Arvada; and Karen (John) Tromly,
Greenwood Village; June (Bill) Shook Liddicoat; Sister
Vincent Claire; nephew Dick (Lucy) Anderson, Arvada; and
her long-time friend and guardian, Cindy Corbin.
According to her wishes, McDonald was cremated. The Mass
of Christian Burial was Feb. 20 at Annunciation Catholic
Church. Father Jay Jung officiated and Joan Dawson sang
accompanied by Neil V. Reynolds.
McDonald was laid to rest next to her husband and son in St.
Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Following the service, friends and
family gathered at a reception at St. Vincent Hospital.

William S. Musselwhite
William S. “Bill” Musselwhite died at his home in El Moro,
north of Trinidad, Colo., on Feb. 12.
He was born on March 19, 1941, in the Panama Canal Zone
to William B. and Sally S. Musselwhite.
Musselwhite served 15 years in the U.S. Navy with service in
Vietnam and was very proud of his service to and for his
country.
He worked most of his life in law enforcement in the U.S.
Navy Shore Patrol, Burns Detective Agency in California, and
as a deputy sheriff in Lake County and Las Animas County
(1984-1998), in Colorado.
Musselwhite was a good citizen, friend, brother and will truly
be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and wife Darlene
Musselwhite.
He is survived by his brothers Richard L. Musselwhite, El
Moro; Michael R. (Edith) Musselwhite, Hoehne; uncle Robert
S. Musselwhite, Raton, N.M.; and various nieces and
nephews.
By his request, he was cremated with no services. His ashes
will be buried on the family farm in El Moro.
