Theresa Rose Videtich Meglen
Theresa Rose Videtich Meglen, 89, died Aug. 7 at Columbine Manor in Salida.
She was born in Leadville on Oct. 14, 1910 to Joseph and Johanna Butcher Kochevar and went to school in Leadville.
She married Martin Videtich, who died in 1939 and then married John Meglen, who died in 1970.
She was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Leadville.
She enjoyed embroidery but her love of small children and animals was notorious. Her family will always remember how she loved her occasional mug of beer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; sons Martin Videtich and Edward "Tess" Videtich; and daughter Madaline Graves.
She is survived by her daughter Marie Tyrrell, Salida; son Raymond (Shirley) Videtich, Westminster; daughters-in-law Rose Videtich, Denver; and Madalyn Videtich, Leadville.
She is also survived by 21 grandchildren and nearly 60 great and great-great grandchildren.
The Rosary was recited on Aug. 9 and Mass of Christian Burial on Aug. 10, both at Annunciation Catholic Church. Father Tom Killeen officiated and Joan Dawson and Beverly Pologar provided the music.
Pallbearers were Steve, Callie, Michael and Jay Videtich, and Susan Welch and John Neel. Honorary pallbearer was Rose Vardaman.
Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery, next to her late husband, John, and a reception followed at the Parish Hall.

James Smalich
James Smalich, 97, died Aug. 3 at the Extended Care Unit of St. Vincent Hospital in Leadville.
He was born on April 20, 1903, in Leadville to Ignatz and Johanna (Nose) Smalich.
He went to school for a while but quit as a young boy to go to work running errands and making deliveries for Zaitz Mercantile. He also ran many errands for the Ladies of "2" Street! As he became older, he began driving a team of horses to make his various deliveries.
In 1930, he went to work as a miner for the Gilman Mine and lived in a boarding house in Minturn. It was here that he acquired the nickname of "Happy," because of his wonderful smile. James retired from the Gilman Mine in 1965.
His family and friends will also remember how he would walk from his home on Elm St. to the mortuary to work services with the local funeral director.
He was a member of the K.S.K.J. Lodge and he loved playing cards with all the locals at the old firehouse.
With his health failing, James moved into the Extended Care Unit of St. Vincent Hospital in 1991 and remained a resident there until his death.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five sisters; one brother; a niece; and a nephew.
He is survived by his nieces Mary Ann (Ed) LeMoine, Kent, Wash.; June Hinzman, Bakersfield, Calif.; and Madaline Lake, Montrose, Colo.; eight great nieces and nephews, and three great-great nieces.

Frances Mildred Stalcar
Frances Mildred Stalcar, 89, died Aug. 10 in the Extended Care Unit of St. Vincent General Hospital.
She was born in Leadville on Feb. 5, 1911 to Matt and Anna Sodja Stalcar. She went to school in Leadville, graduating from high school.
After high school, she became a desk clerk at the old Vendome Hotel. For 36 years, she was at the hotel's front desk and many a Leadvillite will remember how much pride she took in her appearance. Her outfit, jewelry and shoes were always color coordinated right down to her lipstick and fingernail polish. After her desk clerk career, she became a clerk at the Lake County Treasurer's Office.
She was a life-long member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was the Chaplain for the Leadville Eagle's Lodge for many years. She also belonged to the Western Slavonic Lodge, Catholic Daughters, Altar & Rosary Society and the Hospital Auxiliary. She enjoyed playing solitaire and her hobby was her family. She was a member of the Leadville Birthday Club for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Anne Payne and Mary Connors; and brothers Joseph, John and Louis Stalcar.
She is survived by her nephew David (Jeanne) Stalcar, Craig, Colo.; nieces Shirley Rusch, Leadville; Diane (John) Oreskovich, Pueblo; and Beverly (Donald) Hendershot, Westminster.
She is also survived by numerous great and great, great nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Lesta Stalcar, Pueblo.
The Rosary was recited on Aug. 14 and Mass of Christian Burial on Aug. 15, both at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Joan Dawson sang and Barbara Bost played the organ.
Pallbearers were Toby Tekansik, Lance Scott and Mark Stalcar, Ryan Oreskovich and Robb Hendershot.
Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery and a reception followed at the Eagle's Lodge where Frances spent so much time as Chaplain.
Those wishing may make memorial contributions to St. Vincent Hospital, Extended Care Unit.

Sandra Lynne Wohlers
Sandra Lynne Wohlers, 36, of Twin Lakes, a customer service representative for cable television, died July 19 in Denver.
She was born June 10, 1964 in Denver. She graduated from Evergreen High School in 1982.
She is survived by her son, Dylan Brooke, Berthoud Falls; fiance J.J. Johnson, Twin Lakes; two sisters, Kathy Schneiker, Denver and Cindy Harrison-Reed, New Castle; mother and stepfather Julie and Ron Rice, Clifton; and her father, Harmon Harrison, Arvada.
No services were held. She was cremated.
Marvin William Galloupe
Marvin William Galloupe, 65, died Aug. 1 at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver.
He was born in Great Falls, Mont. May 10, 1935 to Morgan and Frances (Downing) Galloupe.
He was in the U.S. Navy and served in the Korean War. He lived in Washington, Canada and Alaska working as a truck driver, lumber jack, on the Alaskan pipe line, and was a home care nursing assistant. He moved to Colorado eight years ago. He lived in Summit County and worked at Breckenridge Building Center for five years. He then moved to Leadville and worked at the Leadville Pawn Shop where he made many friends. He also worked at Gringo's.
He loved fishing and the mountains. He also loved to help others.
He is survived by a daughter, Theresa Galloupe Pagon of Washington and a son, Michael (Kathy) Galloupe; grandchildren Christina, Louis and Angel, children of Theresa. He was expecting the first grandchild from Michael and Kathy in September. He is also survived by his aunts Elsa Belle and Ruby of Washington.
He was to be married to Linda Martin of Leadville Aug. 4.
He adopted children and grandchildren. He had a heart of gold.
On Aug. 4 a memorial was held at the Senior Center, and a tribute was held at the Silver King Lodge where he enjoyed Karaoke.
He was loved and will be sadly missed by everyone that knew him.
He was cremated in Denver and was buried in Tonasket, Washington on August 26.
