Samuel M. Magnusson
The Angels took Samuel Martin Magnusson, 68, of Loveland on Aug. 25, 2005, to be with his parents and his brother in heaven to help pour out the rain.
He was born Oct. 3, 1936, in Bison, S.D., to Lloyd and Ila Magnusson (Sudlow). He attended schools in South Dakota.
He then joined the Army in 1956, where he served in Germany and the Korean and Vietnam wars as a medic. He served at various military bases throughout his Army career.
After his Army career, he then chose to make truck driving his career until his retirement in 2000.
He married Joyce Bren in 1959. They were blessed with Jeffrey Scott. They divorced in 1961. He then married Paula Bohn in 1965, and they were blessed with Kristi Lynn, Kevin Craig, and Derek Lee. They divorced in 1988.
He lived in Loveland for several years. Then he moved to Memphis, Tenn., and returned home to Loveland in 2004.
He loved spending time with his grandchildren, Brandon and Alyssa Gachne of Loveland. They were the lights of his life.
He was a friendly and giving person. He loved sports and country music and had a great and unique sense of humor.
He is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Scott Magnusson and wife Paularae of Pierre, S.D., Kevin Craig Magnusson of Loveland, and Derek Lee Magnusson and wife Angela of Loveland; a daughter, Kristi Lynn Gachne and husband Bruce of Loveland; two brothers, Everett Magnusson and wife June of Wilbur, Neb., and Dale Magnusson of Big Sky, Mont.; six sisters, Naomi Douglas and husband Kelly of Rapid City, S.D., Irma Foland and husband Gary of Hillsboro, Ill., Sharon Lebeda and husband Norman of Loveland, Marilyn McKibben of Rapid City, Emma Lamb of Onida, S.D., and Ruth Ballard and husband Ron of Phoenix, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, George Magnusson.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Resthaven Funeral Home, Fort Collins.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at Resthaven Funeral Home Chapel.

Ruben Sedillo
Ruben Sedillo, 69, of Apple Valley, Calif., formerly of Loveland, died Aug. 4, 2005, in Apple Valley following a long illness.
He was born Dec. 28, 1935, in Monsano, N.M., to Alejandro and Elaine Sedillo. He attended schools in New Mexico and Loveland.
He married Gloria Apadaca in 1958. She died in a car accident in New Mexico in 1972. He married Sandy Stewert in 1980. They moved to Apple Valley in 1980, where he ran his own janitorial service. He retired in 1995.
He worked for Porter Industries in Loveland and later for the city of Loveland. He also worked as an auto mechanic at several different shops. He had a passion for working on and repairing cars.
He is survived by his wife, Sandy Sedillo of Apple Valley; three sons, Manual, Paul and Ernie Sedillo, all of Santa Ana, Calif.; two daughters, Patsy Sedillo and Angela Garcia, both of Santa Ana; a brother, Herman Sedillo and wife Dorothy of Loveland; six sisters, Phyliss Chavez and husband Juan, and Alice Olivas and husband Ramon, all of Belen, N.M., Lupe Guerrero and husband Elmer of Fort Collins, Lucy Hernandez and husband Jose of Evans, Teresa Coulson and husband Dave of Milliken, and Dolly Ambriz and husband Mike of Loveland; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alejandro and Elaine Sedillo, and a brother, Manual Sedillo.
Cremation has been conducted.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 29, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 W. 12th St., Loveland.

Kenneth Dale KNIEVEL
KNIEVEL, Kenneth Dale, husband of Marjorie Knievel, of Berthoud. Memorial service 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 3 at Berthoud First United Presbyterian Church.
Kenneth DaleKNIEVEL passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at McKee Medical Center on Aug. 25, 2005, following several years of failing health.
He was born July 29, 1924, in Plainview, Neb., to William Henry Knievel and Christina Katherina (Hansen) Knievel. His family moved to Loveland when he was 6 months old.
Ken graduated from Loveland High School in 1943. He played on Loveland’s 1942 state championship football team and was named all-state center. He graduated from the University of Colorado, where he was in the Navy ROTC program. He received his commission as an ensign and also earned a degree in mechanical engineering. While at CU he also played football and was a member of the Phi Gamma Delta fraternity. Following his commissioning, he served on the USS Columbia.
He married Marjorie Ann Foote, daughter of Don and Margaret Foote of Loveland, on Sept. 2, 1948. They had two sons, Kenneth Donald and David Allan.
Following graduation, Ken took a job with Creole Petroleum Corp. in Venezuela, working as an engineer in the oil fields in and around Lake Maracaibo. He later worked as a plant engineer with IBM in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. He and his family returned to Loveland in 1952, where Ken taught science courses at Loveland High School, worked part time at Hewlett-Packard and earned a master’s degree at Colorado State University. He then went on to teach at CSU. His favorite years were spent with his sons raising Angus cattle and the years on the family farm near Berthoud.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Knievel; sons Kenneth Donald and wife Karen (McClanahan) Knievel and David Alan and wife Margey (Frank) Knievel; grandson Robb Knievel; granddaughter Melissa Ann; and sister Maxine and husband John Reisbig.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church, 531 Eighth St., Berthoud, the Rev. Vicky Kintzel officiating. Cremation has been completed.
There will be a Chuck Wagon picnic to celebrate Ken’s life following the memorial service at the Knievel home west of Berthoud.
In lieu of flowers, friends who wish may make contributions to the Berthoud First Presbyterian Church or the Berthoud Fire Department Rescue Squad in care of Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home.
George BROWNE

George BROWNE, 76, of Loveland died Aug. 25, 2005, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
He was born Nov. 9, 1928, in Sheridan, Wyo., to Christopher and Louise Stevens Browne. He graduated from high school in Sheridan.
He married Margaret Kelly in October 1949. She preceded him in death in 1971.
Mr. Browne worked at Martin Marietta in Denver from the mid-1950s to 1975. He then went to work as the manager of quality control to the executive/manager involved in the Skylab program and Titan rockets. When he retired, he was involved in motivation in the aerospace industry.
He moved to Loveland 18 years ago from the Denver area. He enjoyed football and other sports and was a master storyteller. He was a tremendous grandfather and great-grandfather. He was a counselor to MS patients and was very interested in nutrition.
He is survived by a son, Chris Browne of Wheat Ridge; two daughters, Kim Browne of Loveland and Karin Davison of Cleveland, Tenn.; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Nora Bender of Sheridan and Betty Nelson of Wichita, Kan.
Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. today at Viegut Funeral Home, with Sister Patricia Kelly, O.C.D., officiating. Burial will be in Golden Cemetery, Golden.

L. Porter Bailey
L. PorterBailey, 91, of Loveland, died Aug. 17, 2005, in the Larimer County Hospice Program at North Shore Health Care Facility in Loveland.
He was born Nov. 15, 1913, in Acme, N.C. He grew up in Tulsa, Okla. He moved to Loveland in 2000 from Florida.
He was a U.S. Army Air Forces veteran of World War II.
He was a trumpeter and played professionally with several bands throughout the Big Band era from 1930 to 1950.
He later was a hairstylist and cosmetologist. He owned four salons and three schools of cosmetology in Florida. He was an educator and leader in the field of cosmetology. He was elected chairman of the Official Hair Fashion Committee (OHFC) three times, the only person in OHFC history to be so honored.
He is survived by his wife, Luella Bailey of Loveland; a daughter, Sandra M. Life of Fort Collins; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 1730 W. 12th St., Loveland.
His body was donated to the CU School of Medicine.
Cremation was conducted and burial will be in Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the St. John the Evangelist Building Fund or The Rosary Shrine of St. Jude.

Dorothy S. FRANK
Dorothy S. FRANK, 80, of Loveland died Aug. 27, 2005, in Firestone.
She was born Aug. 12, 1925, in Firestone to George and Elizabeth Meznar Zadel. She graduated from Frederick High School in 1943.
She married Roy E. Frank on Nov. 11, 1950, in Loveland. They moved to Loveland in 1975 from Firestone.
Mrs. Frank had most recently worked in food service for the school district. She was a member of the Loveland HeartBeats and the Loveland V.F.W. She was
very active as a volunteer at the Chilson Senior Center.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. She loved polka dancing. She enjoyed fishing, crocheting and sewing. She loved gardening and working in her yard. She enjoyed football and baseball and was an avid Broncos fan.
She is survived by daughters Jane Churchill and husband Jeff of Firestone and Debbie Pierce and husband Ron of Murrieta, Calif.; five grandchildren; brothers Franklin Zadel and wife Helen of Fort Lupton and Robert Zadel and wife Phyliss of Fort Morgan; sisters Elizabeth Kovac of Colorado Springs, Mary Tomsick and husband John of Broomfield, Violet Ramsey of Denver, and Janet Karst and husband Kent of Highlands Ranch; sisters-in-law Elaine Zadel of Johnstown and Marjorie Frank of Fort Collins; and numerous nephews and nieces.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Roy E. Frank, Sept. 20, 2001; and a brother, George Zadel.
Viewing will be noon-4 p.m. today at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home. A rosary service will be 7 p.m. today at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Frederick. A Mass of Christian burial will be 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Thomas Edward SNYDER
Thomas Edward SNYDER 77, of Berthoud, died Friday, Aug. 26, 2005, in his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born Dec. 12, 1927, in Auburn, Neb., to John Cleveland Snyder and Joy Pearl (Briggs) Snyder.
He served in the Army with the 43rd Cavalry and was honorably discharged in 1947.
He married Evelyn Grace Zorn on Nov. 8, 1950. In 1957, they moved to Loveland, and then in 1960 to Berthoud.
He was a volunteer firefighter and worked as an electrician. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers 68.
Over the years, he was a baseball coach and umpire for Berthoud youths, served as a neighborhood handyman and created the Halloween/harvest yard sculptures. In his free time, he enjoyed making tools and the love of his family and grandchildren.
Mr. Snyder is survived by his wife, Evelyn G. Snyder, a retired nurse; sons John and wife Sheri Koschene of Loveland, Jeffrey and wife Patrice Leer of Berthoud, James and wife Shayleen of Loveland, Thomas Jay and wife Vicki of Berthoud, and Joel and wife Angie of Loveland; brother James and wife Sally of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; sisters Martha Muse of Auburn, Neb., and Shirley Pavey of Lincoln, Neb.; sister-in-law Edus Snyder of Nebraska City, Neb.; 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Mr. Snyder was preceded in death by his brother John, brothers-in-law Warren Muse and Carl Pavey, and grandson Zackary A. Snyder.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Episcopal Church, 3448 N. Taft Ave., with the Rev. Sathi Bunyan presiding.
Arline Dick
Arline Dick of Loveland, 90, beloved wife of Avery Dick, passed away Thursday, Aug. 25, 2005, in her home, surrounded by her family.
She was born Sept. 24, 1914, in Campbell, Minn., to Allen and Alta Hurst McTaggert.
She married Avery Dick on June 8, 1938, in Campbell.
Mrs. Dick and her husband were Seventh-day Adventist Church missionaries to China and the Philippines. They also lived in Canada before moving to Loveland in 1977.
She taught home economics and English in Seventh-day Adventist high schools and colleges.
She enjoyed painting in oils and sewing. She belonged to the Campion Seventh-day Adventist Church had been a deaconess for many years.
Mrs. Dick is survived by her husband, Avery Dick of Loveland; her daughter, Ardis (Dick) Stenbakken of Loveland; two grandchildren, Eric Stenbakken of Greeley and Rikki Welch of Burtonsville, Md.; a great-granddaughter, Aubrey Stenbakken of Greeley; and her sister, Lois Pegal of Walla Walla, Wash.
Mrs. Dick was preceded in death by her son, Aubrey Dick.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2005, at 7 p.m. at the Campion Seventh-day Adventist Church, 300 S.W. 42nd St.

Janet Catherine McGOWAN
Janet Catherine McGOWAN was born on June 2, 1914, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and passed away on Aug. 28, 2005, under Hospice care at McKee Medical Center. She was 91.
Janet was married to Al McGowan on Feb. 28, 1942 in Cedar Rapids. They were married for 37 years before he passed away in December 1979. Janet was a homemaker and together the couple raised five children in Lakewood, Calif. Janet lived most of her life in Lakewood, Calif., and had been at Spring Creek Nursing Home in Fort Collins for the past 13 years.
Janet is survived by her four daughters and their husbands: Pat and Charles Owen of Fullerton, Calif., Barbara and Dwight Page of Loveland, Mary and Dennis Peery of Loveland, and Kathy and Drago Daic of Houston, Texas. She also is survived by daughter-in-law Joan McGowan of Garden Grove, Calif., many grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Al; her mother, Cora; her father, Roy; her brother, George; and her son, Ralph.
Janet’s family would like to send their deep appreciation for the kind and loving care the staff at Spring Creek has given to their mother for so many years and for the incredible gift the wonderful professionals of Hospice of Larimer County have given to them and to Janet in the last few days of her life. All of you have touched our lives deeply and we will be forever grateful to you all.
Family graveside services will be held Friday from Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.
Fredi KIRK
Fredi KIRK, 50, of Estes Park, formerly of Loveland, died Aug. 25, 2005 at her home.
She was born Oct. 14, 1954, in Miami, Fla., to Louis and Sophie (Besvinick) Kirk. She was a former resident of Loveland for seven years prior to moving Estes Park.
She worked at The Office Grill. She worked for Nicky’s Restaurant for many years prior to that.
She enjoyed leather work and had her own business, “Painted Leather By Fredi.” She loved her dog Maizy, who was her best friend.
She is survived by her parents, Louis and Sophie Kirk of Boca Raton, Fla.; a son, Sean Meeks of Boca Raton, Fla.; a daughter, Ali Ross of Estes Park; a sister, Judith Cascone of Hastings on the Hudson, N.Y.; and a granddaughter.
Cremation has taken place.
