HARMON:
Rayburn Donald “R.D.” Harmon, 67, died May 23, 2003, at his home in Fort Collins.
He was born Feb. 16, 1936, in LaPanto, Ark., to William and Ludie Harmon. He moved to Loveland in 1970 from Rockford, Ill., with his former spouse, Jane Harmon-Lynn, and five children.
He moved to Fort Collins and remarried in 1975 to Vickie Woodard-Harmon. There are two children from that marriage.
Mr. Harmon retired from Colorado State University as a roofer/plumber.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. He spent most of his time after retirement at Lake McConaughy, Neb.
He is survived by his wife, Vickie Harmon of Fort Collins; sons Jeremy Harmon and wife Mandy of Fort Collins and Randy Harmon and Russell Harmon and wife Christine, all of Loveland; daughters Amanda Glass and husband Joel, and Susan Beck and husband Charles of Fort Collins and Judy Kindstrom and Shirley Norquay and spouse Joe of Loveland; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and sisters Neva Kennedy of Matthews, Mo., and Dorothy Orr of Bono, Ark.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, sister, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
Private family services will be held at a later date at Lake McConaughy.
HAYS:
Esther F. Hays, 88, of Loveland, died May 23, 2003 after a long, active and enjoyable life.
Esther Louise Frazer was born April 2, 1915 to Mabel Ruth Fink Frazer and David H. Frazer in Brady's Bend, Pa. She attended Kaylor High School for three years and completed her senior year at East Brady High School.
After receiving her registered nurse degree from Butler Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Butler, Pa., she moved to Philadelphia and worked at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children for several years. She remained a caregiver for family and friends into her 70s.
She married Henry M. Hays on Feb. 3, 1939, at Valley Forge Memorial Chapel, Valley Forge, Pa. They were married for 63 years until his death on Aug. 2, 2002. They lived in the Philadelphia area until Henry retired in 1977 and then moved to Sarasota, Fla. In 1997, they moved to Loveland to be near family.
Mrs. Hays was an excellent seamstress and made many of her own and her daughter's clothes, including coats, suits and hats. She enjoyed entertaining, decorating, knitting and had crocheted afghans for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved gardening and had beautiful flowers every place she lived. Mr. and Mrs. Hays enjoyed traveling. They visited Europe, Japan, Hawaii and cruised to the Caribbean, Alaska and through the Panama Canal. They also took many car trips within the United States.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Hays was an active church member, including Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Philadelphia and Trinity Lutheran Church, Havertown, Pa. While in Florida, she was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church and the Sahib Shrine Club Auxiliary serving in the Greeterette Unit, which assisted parents and visitors at Shriners Hospital for Children in Tampa, Fla.
Mrs. Hays was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Loveland and Faith Circle. She was a life member of Lansdowne Chapter No. 441, Order of the Eastern Star, Lansdowne, Pa.
Mrs. Hays is survived by a daughter, Cynthia (Cindy) Tartaglia and husband Louis of Loveland and four grandchildren, Katherine Dumont and husband Frank of Estes Park, Jennifer Klagge and husband Jay of Loveland, Amy Johns and husband Mathew of Parker and Michael Tartaglia and wife Sunny of Thornton. There are six great-grandchildren, Theodore and Galileo Dumont of Estes Park, Zachary and Anthony Klagge of Loveland, Mia Ruth Johns of Parker and Emma Tartaglia of Thornton.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Marshall and friend James Williams of Sarasota, Fla. and a brother, Allan S. Frazer and wife Phyllis of Chicora, Pa., seven nieces and four nephews and many friends in Pennsylvania, Florida and Colorado.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 3333 Duffield Ave.

Steven D. Hoffman, 51, of Fort Collins, formerly of Loveland, died May 24, 2003, at his home in Fort Collins.
He was born July 14, 1951, in Fort Collins, to Rowan and Donna Long Hoffman. He attended elementary and high school in Loveland and graduated from Loveland High School in 1969. He married Patty Irwin-Richardson on Feb. 24, 1995, in Loveland.
He worked in maintenance at Colorado State University for 10 years. A back injury required him to retire in 1982.
He served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. He served in South Vietnam from July 1970 to July 1971. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Action Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, a Purple Heart, and a Certificate of Commendation. One of his most treasured possessions was a small Bible that was given to him by his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Hoffman, that he carried with him always, through boot camp, training, Vietnam and up to his discharge from the service.
He was a lifetime resident of Loveland.
He is a longtime member of the Fort Collins Corvette Club and served as a vice president for two terms. His prized possession is his 1972 Corvette. He also formed a band, “Colorado Country” and played the guitar.
He is a member of the First Congregational Church in Loveland.
Steven loved the mountains, camping and fishing were great pastimes, cruisin’ in the Corvette, and telling jokes. Everyone loved his keen sense of humor. He cherished his grandchildren and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Irwin-Richardson Hoffman; two daughters, Jennifer Alexander of Johnstown, and Monica Meiu and husband Zac of Greeley; parents, Rowan and Donna Hoffman of Loveland; a sister, Cindy Montoya and husband John of Loveland; three grandchildren, Kaitlynn and Kody Alexander of Johnstown, and Dominik Meiu of Greeley; stepson, Trever Richardson and wife Melissa of Fort Collins; special friends, Roger and Judy Anderson of Livermore; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jake and Esther Hoffman and Harvey and Esther Long, a son-in-law, Brent Alexander, and two infant sisters.
Viewing will be 3-7 p.m. Thursday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Chapel.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at First Congregational Church, 800 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland. Pastor Jon Winans will officiate.
Burial will be in Rest-haven Memory Gardens.

McPETERS :
Gilbert “Gil” McPeters, 56, of Fort Collins, died of brain cancer May 23, 2003, at the McKee Medical Center Hospice Unit in Loveland.
He passed away surrounded by his loving family.
Gil was born Aug. 3, 1946, in Harriman, Tenn., the son of Gilbert Roland McPeters Sr. and Helen Christine Briggs McPeters.
He married his high school sweetheart, Linda Kaye Sebben, on Oct. 16, 1965, in Joliet, Ill. They enjoyed 37 years of marriage.
Gil was a former resident of Joliet, Ill. He graduated from Joliet Township High School in Joliet. He’d been a Fort Collins resident since 1978.
He worked as the body shop manager at Ted Benson Dodge in Joliet for several years. Upon moving to Fort Collins, he managed the body shop at Dellenbach Chevrolet for one year before opening a successful collision repair business in Loveland in April of 1979, with his wife, Linda. Linda and their son, Matthew, will continue to operate the business.
Gil was a member of several tennis associations in Fort Collins and Loveland. He coached recreational and The Arsenal competitive soccer teams in Fort Collins.
He loved the outdoors and had a passion for gardening. He enjoyed tennis, collecting British cars and vacationing with his wife, Linda, on Sanibel Island, Fla. He was a devoted father and cherished the time he spent with his family.
Gil is survived by his wife, Linda Kaye McPeters of Fort Collins; two sons, Matthew McPeters and his wife, Heidi, of Denver and Ian McPeters of Fort Collins; three daughters, Melissa Blackstone of Warren, N.J., Meg McCulloch and husband Brian of Denver, and Erin Mary McPeters of Boulder; his mother-in-law, Ruth Agazzi Sebben of Kahoka, Mo.; two brothers, Jerry McPeters of Santa Fe, N.M., and Geary McPeters of Tennessee; one sister, Sandra McPeters of New Lenox, Ill., and six grandchildren, Hayley, Chloe and Noah Blackstone, Connor and Molly Catherine McCulloch and Sophie Bartels.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Jennifer McPeters; his father-in-law, Angelin Sebben; and a brother, Terry McPeters.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life open house, 2-4 p.m. Wednesday, at Gil and Linda’s home.
Cremation will be completed.

Lawrence “Tony” Rael, 45, of Omaha, Neb., formerly of Berthoud, died May 26, 2003, in Omaha.
He was born Nov. 13, 1957, in Roy, N.M., to Lorenzo and Matilda Gallegos Rael. He worked for several construction companies.
He moved to Berthoud in 1973 from Milliken. He moved to Omaha in 1990.
He enjoyed playing his guitar and singing.
He is survived by a son, Jaime Rael of Fort Collins; three daughters, Christa Rael and Antonya Rael, both of Longmont, and Laura Rael of Denver; his mother, Matilda Rael of Longmont; his father, Lorenzo Rael of Clayton, N.M.; one brother, Dominic Rael of Longmont; three sisters, Francis Embree and husband of Anderson, S.C., Barbara Rael and husband, and Rosalie Rascon, all of Longmont; one granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Slager.

Gary Kenneth Roth, 54, of Loveland, died May 24, 2003, at McKee Medical Center’s Hospice Care Center.
He was born May 3, 1949, in Greeley to Rhinie and Lois Snyder Roth.
After moving to Loveland, he attended Washington School and Loveland High School.
He married Judy Ann Peninger on Aug. 2, 1969, in Loveland.
Gary worked for Great Western Sugar Factory, Roth Builders Inc., Troendly Construction, Colony Construction and Kan Build, as a carpenter. He could build a house with his eyes shut.
Gary was an artist in another way. He could draw anything that came to his mind.
Gary loved fishing, or as his grandson said, “More than loved fishing.”
Gary also enjoyed spending time with his wife, his two grandsons and family. His grandsons were his pride and joy. As soon as they were old enough, the first thing he did was take them fishing.
He had a lot of fish stories and the pictures to back them up.
He is survived by his wife, Judy Ann Roth of Loveland; daughter Ruth Ann Wofford and husband Darrell of Loveland; grandsons Skylar Wofford and Clayton Wofford of Loveland; brothers Maren Roth and wife Miki, William Roth, Ronald Roth, David Roth, all of Fort Collins, and Michael Roth and Harold Roth, both of Masonville; sisters, Bula Banks and husband Dan of Washington, Darlene Harding and husband Bob of Loveland, Linda Roth and Jerry of Austin, Texas, Carol Davis and husband J.D. of Fort Collins and Juanita Kurth of Loveland; father and mother-in-law, William C. and Mary Kaiser of Loveland and Jack and Myrtle Pen-inger of Kellogg, Idaho; brothers-in-law, Jim Peninger and wife Kathleen of Challas, Idaho, Jack Peninger and wife Isabel of Windsor, and Bill Peninger and wife Gloria of Kellogg, Idaho; sisters-in-law, Susan Bacca and husband Joe of Raton, N.M., and Christine Haistings and husband Russ of Fort Collins and Betty Kaiser of Loveland; numerous nieces and nephews and lots of extended family and friends.

SVEDMAN:
Clarence James "Jim" Svedman, 76, of Fort Collins died May 27, 2003.
He was born Dec. 4, 1926, in Windsor to Clarence Martin Svedman and Margaret Yancey Svedman. He attended Timnath High School and graduated from Colorado A&M (now Colorado State University) with a bachelor's degree in animal husbandry in 1951.
After Mr. Svedman finished school, he and his father were partners in farming and cattle feeding operations until his father's death. He operated both businesses until he sold the property to developers.
Mr. Svedman was a member of various 4-H clubs, FarmHouse Fraternity, First Presbyterian Church of Fort Collins, Elks Lodge No. 804, Colorado State University Alumni Association and the Colorado Cattle Feeders Association. He served on the Louden Ditch Board and volunteered with Meals on Wheels of Fort Collins.
He was a lifelong resident of Larimer County and a leader in the farming community in and around Timnath and Windsor. He was known as an honest, loyal, and generous friend and father with a keen sense of humor.
He is survived by three daughters, Cindy Kusuno and husband Grant of Berthoud, Deborah Svedman of El Paso, Texas, and Carol Geary and husband Michael of Dallas, Texas; his ex-wife, Shirley "Nean" Trumbauer; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Ida Jean Briggs, and brother-in-law Lawrence Briggs of California.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 531 S. College Ave. in Fort Collins, with the Rev. Richard S. McDermott officiating.

Victory W. Uhl, 87, of Loveland died May 25, 2003, at his home.
He was born Nov. 14, 1915, in Chicago, Ill., to Charles F. Uhl and Elizabeth Kossin. He graduated from high school in the Chicago area and attended Northwestern College.
He married Jeanette O. Henderson on May 25, 1938, in Chicago.
Mr. Uhl worked for U.S. Steel as a clerk and moved to a safety manager position 1937-1945. He worked in Pebble Beach, Calif., as a supervisor for Delmonte Properties for many years.
He moved to Loveland four years ago from Monument. He loved woodworking and watching sports and was an avid golfer.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette Uhl of Loveland; daughters Charlotte Stone of Worthington, Ohio, and Suzanne Bello of Lincolnton, Ga.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by sons Edward and Richard Uhl; brother Charles Uhl; and sisters Hannah Hazzard, Pearl Demos, and Eleanor Lott.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Nazarene, the Rev. Jim Lynch officiating.
Cremation has been completed.

WALL:
Margaret Jean Wall, 78, of Halstead, Kan., formerly of Loveland, died May 29, 2003, at Halstead Health and Rehabilitation.
She was born Dec. 27, 1924, in Sallyards, Kan., to Hoke and Ruby Sanger Smith. She married Cornelius E. "Curt" Wall on June 1, 1947, at Sallyards. He preceded her in death on April 21, 1997. She was a retired Realtor.
She returned to Halstead in 2002 after residing in Loveland and Eureka, Kan.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, co-founder and charter member of the Halstead Hospital Auxiliary and past Worthy Matron, Order of the Eastern Star, all in Halstead.
She is survived by two daughters, Carol Jean Van Bloem of Park City, Kan., and Crystal Wall of Utica, N.Y.; sister, Flossie Wilkinson of Wichita, Kan.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Monday at Kaufman Funeral Home in Halstead. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
Cremation will follow.
Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the First Presbyterian Church in Halstead.
Entombment will be in Halstead Mausoleum.
