Galan Dean Elijah, 41, formerly of Loveland, died Feb. 9, 2004, in Bismarck, N.D.
He was born March 19, 1962, in Loveland to Mike Elijah and Analene Prull. He graduated in 1980 from Thompson Valley High School, where he was a varsity wrestler for four years. He set several school records and placed second in the state championships his senior year.
Mr. Elijah spent the last 12 years in the state of North Dakota. He helped construct the first carbon dioxide pipeline between the United States and Canada and helped replace the electric generation turbines in the Garrison Dam in North Dakota.
He was creative in wood and metal sculpture. He enjoyed fishing and helping people and had a compassion for the American Indian people. He loved animals, especially dogs, and was a loving father, son and brother.
He is survived by his parents, Mike Elijah and Jane Staples of Loveland and Analene Torgerson and husband Jim of Ray, N.D.; sons Travis Duwayne Elijah of Loveland and Jake Collins of Powers Lake, N.D.; daughters Nikita Nicole Elijah of Powers Lake and Roberta Odden of Towner, N.D.; stepbrothers Brad Torgerson of Bismarck and Scott Torgerson of Fargo, N.D.; sister Jeana M. Elijah-Asnicar and husband Scott of Westminster; and fiancée Deanna Odden of Towner.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at King of Glory Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Tom Glossi officiating.
Cremation has been completed.

FISHKO:
William Howard Fishko, 83, died Feb. 11, 2004, in the Hospice Unit at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
Howard was born April 27, 1920, to William and Elizabeth Rohwer Fishko on a farm at Millard, Neb. In 1941 he married Marjorie Peterson. Following their marriage they farmed west of Millard. To this union one son, Gary, was born.
In 1947 he and his father purchased the Chevrolet dealership in Millard. In 1950 the dealership was moved to Papillion, Neb. There he also sold Oliver/White Farm Equipment.
In 1967, the Chevrolet dealership was sold, but he kept the implement business until the mid-’80s. Howard continued farming until 1979, when they sold the farm and moved to southwestern South Dakota to be near their son and family, who were in the ranching business.
In 1995 after selling the ranch they moved to Omaha, and in July 2003 moved to Loveland.
Howard was involved in 4-H as a youth and later really enjoyed helping his granddaughters with their 4-H cattle projects.
He was a lifelong Lutheran and was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Millard and St. John’s Lutheran Church in Hot Springs, S.D. He was a 50-year member of Masonic Lodge No. 39 of Papillion and a member of the B.P.O.E. Elks and the S.D. Stockgrowers.
He is survived by his son, Gary, and wife Sandra of Loveland; grandchildren Janelle Lewis of Loveland and Leslie Voxland and husband Stan of Lander, Wyo.; great-grandchildren Zach-ary Lewis and Colby Voxland; and extended family.
Cremation has been conducted. A private family service will be held in Loveland and a memorial service in Omaha at a later date.

HERBERTSON:

Jessiebelle Elliott Herbertson, 98, of Loveland died Feb. 8, 2004, in the Hospice Care Center at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
She was born April 6, 1905, at Talihina, Okla. (Indian Territory), the fifth of 10 children born to William T. and Eliza (Blake) Elliott. The family later moved to Osage County, where she graduated from Hominy High School. She was active on the basketball and debate teams. She attended Northeastern State Teachers College in Tahlequah, Okla., for one year.
She lived in Oklahoma for many years; then, during World War II, moved to California, where she worked on Mare Island for the U.S. Navy. Following the war, she homesteaded in Alaska with her husband, D.C. Walker, who died in later years.
After moving to Loveland in 1973, she met William “Bill” Herbertson, and they married Nov. 30, 1975. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1979.
Her life was filled with adventure, generosity, good humor and a love of family and friends. She was a supporter of the arts and many musical events in Northern Colorado, and a longtime member of Trinity United Meth-odist Church.
Jessiebelle is survived by two sisters, Carol Dean Adams and husband Pat of Loveland and Lucyle Canepa of New Cuyama, Calif.; a niece, Angel Street and husband Floyd of Loveland; a stepson, Jack Herbertson of Fort Collins; a stepdaughter-in-law, Reta Ralph and husband Charles of Fort Collins; three step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; and many nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at Trinity United Methodist Church.

JAHNS:
Franz “Otto” Jahns, 54, of Greeley died Feb. 10, 2004, at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
He was born Aug. 7, 1949, in Hanau, Germany. He came to Kimball, Neb., at the age of 9 from Germany. He married Barbara Muz-quiz on Jan. 27, 1973, in Bridgeport, Neb.
He was employed at Boulder Scientific for several years.
He loved the Black Hills and the mountains.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Jahns of Greeley; two daughters, Nicole Jahns of Evans, and Ami Jahns of Greeley; and two grandchildren.
Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. today at the Adamson West Chapel, 2000 W. 47th Ave., Greeley.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at the Adamson West Chapel.
Cremation has been conducted.

Viggo H. Kruse, 93, of Loveland died Feb. 13, 2004, at a local nursing home.
He was born April 23, 1910, in Herman, Neb., to Anton and Martina Christensen Kruse. He attended Washington County, Neb., schools.
He married Lola Behrendt in Papillion, Neb., on Feb. 16, 1935. They farmed and fed cattle in Washington County until 1960, when they moved to Loveland. He sold real estate for Big Thompson Realty in Loveland until his failing health caused him to retire. They spent their winters in Mesa, Ariz.
He loved to fish, hunt and hike and was an avid golfer.
He attended Evangelical Cov-enant Church in Loveland.
Survivors include his wife, Lola Kruse of Loveland; a son, Duane Kruse and wife Louise of Loveland; two grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and a sister, Dagmar Kruse of Fremont, Neb.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Chapel. Viewing will follow the service on Wednesday.
Interment will be at Loveland Burial Park.

Helen R. Lasson, 87, of Loveland died Feb. 12, 2004, at a local nursing home.
She was born July 5, 1916, in Tingley, Iowa, to Herbert and Julia C. Ambrosier Duffy. Her father had moved to Tingley in 1913 and became a leading builder who constructed many of Tingley’s finer homes. He built the Tingley Methodist Church, which still is standing, and the Tingley school that Helen attended.
She graduated from Deaconess Evangelical School of Nursing in Marshalltown, Iowa, in 1937.
She married Leon “Duke” Lasson on Feb. 3, 1940, in Marshalltown. He preceded her in death in August 1991.
Mrs. Lasson was a private-duty registered nurse. She moved to Loveland in 1991 from Chiefland, Fla.
She was a member of the Methodist Church. She enjoyed crafts, playing bingo and cards and spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading.
Mrs. Lasson is survived by her son, Lee Lasson and wife Sandy of Glen Haven; two grandchildren, Tony and Cassie Lasson of Glen Haven; and seven nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a brother, Horton Dufty; and two sisters, Florence Demling and Loretta Cheney.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Loveland Good Samaritan Village Chap-el, with Wes Pixler officiating.
Final graveside services and burial will be at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Chiefland Cemetery.

LEJA:
Tina-Marie Leja. Funeral 10:45 a.m. today, Friday, February 13, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, Fort Collins.
Tina-Marie (Germanowski) Leja, 41, of Fort Collins died Jan. 31, 2004, as the result of an automobile accident in Fort Collins. Her dog, Ellie, died with her in the accident.
Born in North Adams, Mass., on April 1, 1962, she was the daughter of Bernard Vincent Germanowski and Mary (Florini) Germanowski. She was educated in city schools and graduated from Drury High School with the class of 1980. She was class salutatorian at graduation. She also graduated from Smith College in Northampton with the class of 1984, majoring in English with honors.
Following graduation, she joined the Hewlett-Packard Co. Following her company training, she was employed with the company in Fort Collins-Greeley for the past 19 years, specializing as a learning system architect.
She was a communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Fort Collins, and taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine (CCD) at the church. While a resident of North Adams, she was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church.
She was a member of the Rocky Mountain Society for Technical Communications and the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Association of Computing Machines Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (ACM-SIG-CHI.)
Besides her parents, she leaves a brother, John B. Germanowski and his wife Deborah (Bourquard) Germanowski of Lenox, Mass., and a nephew, Matthew J. Germanowski of Lenox.
Services and burial were in North Adams.
Recitation of the rosary will be 10:45 a.m. Friday, followed by a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 5450 S. Lemay Ave., Fort Collins.

Gladys Proctor, 99, of Loveland, died Feb. 13, 2003, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
She was just more than six weeks shy of her 100th birthday.
She was born March 29, 1904, in Lenox, Iowa, to Earl Russell and Alta Lena Moffitt Proctor.
She never married.
After graduating from high school, she and her sister taught for six years in a one-room schoolhouse.
Her family moved to Loveland from Lenox in the spring of 1926.
For many years, her family made and sold alabaster items from their home on East Eisenhower Boulevard. The home was demolished last year, but parts of it were moved to the Loveland Museum and Gallery.
Miss Proctor and her sisters enjoyed flower gardening. She and her sister, Hazel, made floral arrangements for the First United Methodist Church for 13 years.
During World War II, she and her two sisters drove to Fort Collins then rode the bus to Cheyenne, Wyo., each day to install machine guns in aircraft.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by nieces Ramona Kirklin, Donna Weitzel and Marilyn Proctor, all of Denver; cousins Cecil Proctor and wife Shirley of Loveland and Sylvia Fitch of Bellingham, Wash.; and sister-in-law Ruby Proctor of Littleton.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Roy E. Proctor; and sisters, Madge and Hazel Proctor.
Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Kibbey-Fishburn Funeral Home with the Rev. Olon Lindemood of the First United Methodist Church officiating. The family has requested no viewing.
Interment will be at Loveland Burial Park.

STEVENS:
David C. Stevens, 91, of Loveland. Widower of Dorcas Stevens. Cremation has been conducted. Memorial graveside services 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 17 at Loveland Burial Park, Paul Holdeman officiating. David C. Stevens, 91, of Loveland died Feb. 9, 2004, at McKee Medical Center in Loveland.
David was born Dec. 14, 1912, in Niagara, Wis., to Clifton and Hazel Arnold Stevens.
David graduated from high school and Colorado A&M, now known as Colorado State University, in Fort Collins, receiving his degree in forestry. He served in the U.S. Navy and then returned to Colorado State University to receive his master’s degree.
David worked for the U.S. Forest Service as a forest supervisor and was stationed in Arizona, New Mexico, Illinois and Iowa, retiring in Texas.
David married Dorcas H. McClintick on Sept. 12, 1937, in Colorado Springs, and they moved to Loveland from Texas in 1974. She preceded him in death Jan. 21, 1997.
David enjoyed building model trains, visiting with his friends and spending time at the Chilson Center.
He is survived by a daughter, Carole Mason and husband Dale R. of Loveland; grandchildren Leanne Olson of Englewood, Colo., and Karen Paterson and husband Steve of Mount Annan, Australia; three great-grandchildren, Kersten Olson of Englewood and Jake and Anna Paterson of Mount Annan; and a sister, Mary Jane Hensch of California.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorcas H. Stevens, and a brother, John Stevens.
Cremation has been conducted, with graveside services 11 a.m. Tuesday at Loveland Burial Park, with Paul Holdeman officiating. A reception will be held following the graveside services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Salvation Army or the Arbor Day Foundation.
